  1. We paid £40 for the London Eye. I think it's only worth it if the weather's nice so don't buy your tickets in advance. You should also try to see a musical in the West End if you can.
  2. I don't really get why all the tourists go there. Yeah it's cheap but everything breaks after a couple of days. Plus it's always crowded and the queues for the changing rooms are ridiculous. Portobello Market is amazing, I really like Notting Hill in general. You should also go to Camden market. And Brick Lane, especially if you wanna eat out.
  3. Because you don't have to find a job straight away. Many British people can't find graduate jobs, I don't think you've got much of a chance if your English isn't fluent (and by that I mean at a near-native level).
  4. I moved to the UK five years ago. Would I recommend it? I'm not sure. I'd say if it's something you really want to do, go for it. Personally, I'm glad that I moved there but it certainly hasn't been easy. It's really tough to find work, even more so if you're foreign (although London employers are a bit more open-minded when it comes to this). The longer you stay here, the easier it will get but most people don't stay long enough. Most Europeans I know moved back at some point because they felt that they had more opportunities back home. I don't think that's necessarily a UK thing, it's probably the same everywhere but the high unemployment certainly doesn't help. If you're serious about it, I'd do it as soon as possible. It's so much easier to move to another country as a student. I wouldn't bother with the Cambridge Certificates by way, I think they're a bit of a waste of time and money. No one ever asked for mine.
  5. Go to a lot of freshers events, go out if people invite you, try not to miss out on social opportunities.

  7. It's better to be single than to be with the wrong person. I went on a date last night and it was a complete disaster. He seemed nice when I met him on a night out (we were both drunk) but we had nothing to say to each other so it was really awkward.
  8. He has grown up! He looks much better now and I can see why many girls fancy him but he's way too young for me haha
  9. Try to go on a few dates and you'll probably realise that being single isn't so bad.
  10. Slow walking people
  11. It's wrong, it's like asking for the password to your email account or something. Also some people use the same password for different things so the employer might get access to other information too. I'm sure some employers do it and as someone else mentioned, they can often get away with it because people desperately need a job. Some employers would probably still do it even if it's illegal. I once worked somewhere that treated their staff really badly (they didn't pay minimum wage, docked people's pay, sacked people for no good reason) yet hardly anyone ever complained about it because they were scared that they might lose their job.
  12. You can wear make up and still look natural. Definitely not a fan of fake tan, fake eyelashes etc.
  13. I always wear make up when I go out (unless I'm just going to the corner shop). I'd feel naked without it. I always go for a quite natural look though.
  14. They have to have an Irish passport, I think. I would have to ask my Canadian friend who is applying for it if you really want to know :)
  15. Yes, they do. If you are a commonwealth citizen and you have one grandparent who is British or Irish, you can apply for an ancestry visa.
  16. This is my last week of lectures. :( I did a Masters so I've got no excuse now, I will need to start working this year! So scared that I won't be able to find a job/ end up doing something I hate.
  17. It would make no difference whatsoever! They're just trying to show their support, that's all. Hope he's gonns be ok.
  18. Good luck, hope things will work out for you!
  19. I know it's not ideal but you could always live in a shared flat and you might not need a car if you live in the city.
  20. Aww she's adorable! And the Collie's lovely too. I really want a dog.
  21. Fair enough! I prefer the BBC too but I'm quite impressed with Sky's coverage so far. They're showing every practice live as well which is brilliant. It's a lot of money but it will hopefully be worth it. Just don't wanna miss any races because the Internet connection's too slow/ not working properly.
  22. I have to admit, I really like the Sky F1 channel so far!
