The Official Club Football 2014-2015 thread
Would be great to see Walcott at Liverpool! I didn't mean it wasn't exciting, I just don't think it would have been that popular. I think there's generally a lot more people who follow the World Cup (with the exception of very few events maybe). I didn't see any screens outside four years ago and it wasn't the main conversation topic at work. As for John Terry, I wouldn't know how Chelsea fans feel about this. Pretty much all Londoners I know support Arsenal.

Advice for college freshman?
Don't be afraid to talk to people, most people don't know each other and they'll be just as nervous as you. Go out when people invite you. The people you spend the first few weeks with might not become your best friends but you're more likely to meet like-minded people that way. Join societies, go to freshers events. Actually attend lectures, you'll probably regret it later on if you don't. Most lectures give you too much reading to do. Don't freak out, they'll know that very few people will have read everything. Talk to your lectures if you're having problems with your assignments. Also talk to them if you're struggling because of personal problems, work commitments etc. They might give you an extension. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Favorite College team?
Why would it matter? You might not care about all sports but you wouldn't be supporting a different university/ college (unless you've got a friend who plays for them or something). I think it's more of an American thing, no one at my university seems to care.

The Official Club Football 2014-2015 thread
Sorry I never replied, been very busy with uni. It does matter though, do you really think there would have been a huge interest in the Olympics if they had been in Australia and Team GB had absolutely failed? There's people who always watch it of course but I doubt everybody would be talking about it at the end of the year. They might be talking about the men's 100 metre final but that's about it. It's obviously an issue that some footballers are bad role models but this doesn't really mean that people can't relate to them. When I lived in Liverpool, people at work mentioned to me all the time that Robbie Fowler grew up in the same area as them and they were obviously proud that a local guy from a working class background managed to become a successful footballer. I'm sure some Londoners will feel the same way about John Terry.

Fair enough, you didn't mention it but surely that's why we're having this discussion (in the media I mean, can't talk about you personally). Your second point definitely wouldn't be valid if England had won the European Championship though, everybody would be talking about it at the end of the year... and in a few year's time. It may be unfair that footballers get paid a lot more than Olympians, who train just as hard but this isn't really their fault. You could argue the same about golfers, tennis players and F1 drivers. There will always be sports that attract more sponsorship money but the fact that there was a huge interest in the Olympics this year will hopefully change this to some extent.

How do I get recognized as a singer?
I would have thought you should try to play wherever you can? (At least when you're starting off.) Also try small local festivals/ events if there's any in your area?

The Official Club Football 2014-2015 thread
They've all done amazingly well at what they're doing. Fair enough, you might wanna compare winning a gold medal at the Olympics to winning the World Cup but surely this doesn't make football a lesser sport? I don't get the comparison at all. Team GB have been extremely successful whereas England failed to impress at the European Championship (and the football team at the Olympics) therefore footballers are useless and overpaid? What about Spain then?

Everything Olympics 2012
I think they should have mentioned the Paralympics in the Closing Ceremony. I know they're two different events but they're very much related and many people won't even know about it.

Heading to london...
There's quite a few mobile phone apps that will tell you exactly where to go and some of them are free. I don't get why people don't use them if they can't read the map.

We don't wanna see Murray cry again. Federer's won Wimbledon, it's Murray's turn now. Sadly it doesn't work that way and Federer will probably win, he always does. :embarrassed:

Everything Olympics 2012
People in London were quite negative about the Olympics but everyone's getting really excited now. Didn't think I'd watch much of it but I'm kind of getting into it now. It's really nice to see Team GB do so well! I watched an interview with her earlier, it sounded like she's had a difficult time recently. She seemed lovely, I was really made up for her! Shame about the football though, I guess some things never change.

I want to go on holiday....but where?
The Lake District is very nice, it's quite far from London though.

I'm sure you'll have a great time, there's loads to do in London! Just don't use the tube when it's particularly busy unless you absolutely have to.

Heading to london...
It's crowded, it's expensive and people aren't particularly friendly. I don't dislike London but I don't love it either. I'd love to move back to Liverpool but there's a lot more jobs here in London so I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon.

Fashion etc.
Thanks a lot! I've got the same problem, I'm normally a size 8 but I sometimes have to get a 10 (or occasionally even a 12) because some dresses won't fit around the chest area. Think I'll go for a 10 then!
