  1. Brian Eno did help them stretch their boundaries, but improve? I'd say no.
  2. That would be awesome - some much needed love for Low too :)
  3. I would LOVE a darker and heavier album by Coldplay, with songs similar to Square One, White Shadows and Politik. Although I do still love the 'poppier' Coldplay we have now!
  4. Round 1: Life In Technicolor Round 2: Hurts Like Heaven Round 3: Paradise Round 4: Major Minus Round 5: Charlie Brown Round 6: Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall Round 7: Princess Of China Round 8: 42 Round 9: Us Against The World Round 10: U.F.O. Round 11: Don't Let It Break Your Heart Round 12: The Escapist Final Round: Up With The Birds
  5. After some listens... MX/HLH: 10 Paradise: 10 Charlie Brown: 10 UATW: 10 MMIX/ETIAW: 10 Major Minus: 10 UFO: 10 POC: 10 Up in Flames: 10 AHT/DLIBYH: 10 UWTB: 10 Perhaps a bit exaggerated but wow, even songs such as Up in Flames and Major Minus which I didn't like at first have grown on me. Fantastic album.
  6. Mine's probably bad and will never happen - but it's just what I'd personally love. More realistically, it'd be similar to the festival setlist, but with more songs I imagine. I just wish they'd substitute Lost, Life is for Living (even though I love it), In My Place and maybe Violet Hill with different songs.
  7. 1: MX/Hurts Like Heaven 2: Clocks 3: Paradise 4: Yellow 5: Charlie Brown 6: The Scientist 7: Us Against The World 8: Til Kingdom Come 9: Warning Sign 10: U.F.O 11: Princess of China 12: Politik 13: White Shadows 14: Talk 15: Lovers in Japan 16: Viva la Vida 17: Don't Let It Break Your Heart 18: Death and all his Friends 19: Life in Technicolor II 20: Moses 21: Fix You 22: MMIX/ETIAW 23: Up With The Birds I'd love to add Amsterdam and Low somewhere in the mix though
  8. I LOVE Things I Don't Understand :) all the b-sides from the Parachutes/AROBBTH/X&Y era are amazing.
  9. Viva is the weakest IMO, but that's just personal opinion. And despite me considering it the weakest I still think it's bloody fab :) so I think 'worst' is a bit strong Love how AROBTTH hasn't got any votes yet. That was a masterpeice
  10. Not got the figures but probably DLIBYH is top (apart from ETIAW and Paradise which I've of course had for longer). But (very strangely for me), I listen to the album as a whole on my commute to and from work :)
  11. Totally sounds like something from the X&Y era, which is why I think it's one of the best on the album. I love the energy of it!
  12. Well, I hated it at first...but wow, after listening a few times I think it is one of the best on the album. I love how it picks up on the 'concrete canvas' verse - epic!
  13. Great: Up With The Birds AHT/Don't Let It Break Your Heart Charlie Brown Princess of China UFO MX/Hurts like Heaven Us Against The World Good: Paradise MMIX/ETIAW Not so good: Up in Flames Major Minus
  14. Man tears were very nearly shed when hearing the 2nd part of Up With The Birds for the first time
  15. Clocks in the style of the HWSTW performance would be EPIC
  16. 1: Politik 2: The Scientist 3: Charlie Brown 4: A Rush of Blood to the Head 5: Life in Technicolor II 6: Clocks 7: Shiver 8: Square One 9: White Shadows 10: Fix You 11: Warning Sign 12: Don't Let It Break Your Heart 13: Low 14: Death and all His Friends/The Escapist Not really in any particular order though.
  17. I love it - totally sounds like something from the Parachutes era, which is fantastic in my books. What's most amazing is the mix of sounds on MX, they really have created a masterpiece.
  18. Totally sounds like a song written and recorded in the X&Y era, which is why I love it so much.
  19. 1: MX/X&Y 2: AROBTTH 3: VLV/Parachutes X&Y was fantastic imo, Coldplay at their very best. But MX may also be my new favourite - time will tell :)
  20. 10/10. This songs has such an effect on me that it's stupid. One of the most emotional songs ever written.
  21. I love the story of MX - but I think its full meaning is open to interpretation by the listener. Here's my take: 1: MX/Hurts like Heaven - introduction to Mylo 2: Paradise - introduction to Xyloto 3: Charlie Brown - both meet each other, and fall in love (the 'falling in love' is the piano outro at the end) 4: UATW - simple love song between them both (from Mylo to Xyloto?) 5: MMIX/ETIAW - the climax of their relationship - them realising how happy they are with each other 6: Major Minus - things start to turn sour between them for some unknown reason... 7: UFO - Mylo, trying to figure out what to do with his life and this relationship 8: PoC - Basically, the breakup - a big, heated argument between them both 9: Up in Flames - Mylo realising just how much Xyloto meant to him, and brooding over the demise of the relationship 10: AHT/DLIBYH - Mylo finally realising that any mistakes that have been made cannot be changed, and realising that life goes on. 11: UWTB - I picture this song taking place some time after AHT/DLIBYH, and Mylo is now hundrds of miles away and lamenting over his breakup with Xyloto and missing her strongly. But as the second half kicks in, he decides to do whatever he can find her again, even though they may never be in a relationship ('And I won't show I feel any pain, even though all my armor might rust in the rain). The piano outro shows how he has found her Whatever the story goes like, I've realised over the last day or two just how amazing this album is.
  22. 1) Up with the Birds (11/10) (:D what an amazing song) 2) Princess of China (10/10) 3) AHT/Don't Let It Break Your Heart (10/10) 4) UFO (9/10) 5) MX/Hurts like Heaven (9/10) 6) Charlie Brown (9/10) 7) Us Against the World (9/10) 8) Paradise (8/10) 9) ETIAW (8/10) 10) Up in Flames (7/10) 11) Major Minus (6/10)
  23. The 'oooh's in Hurts like Heaven, especially after the 'down with the spray can soul' verse The huge, erupting chorus of Paradise The last minute or two of Charlie Brown The beautiful intro to UATW How U.F.O is so beautifully simple The distorted synths and guitar in PoC, and the 'I could have been a princess...' verse How AHT blends so well wih DLIBYH The heartbeats in DLIBYH The 'ahhs' in UWTB, and the entire second section of it Songs I previously thought I wouldn't like (studio version of HLH and CB) are really growing on me. This is one FANTASTIC album.
  24. After listening to the leaked version a lot today, I've just realised that most of the time that 'something missing' on the songs for me is relating to the volume. In HLH, CB, DLIBYH and perhaps even UATW the volume seems a little off. Notably in CB, the vocals seem to be really, really quiet and muffled, then the guitar kicks in about twice as loud. I'm not sure if they intended it like this but it just doesn't seem...right. Also Chris' vocals go extremely quiet in parts of Hurts like Heaven, then suddenly get louder. I'm not expecting any major changes to the songs, but I do think the leaked songs aren't quite finished, as there seems to be a lot of post production tweaks to be made.
  25. Yup :( it's really sad because the songs are excellent - Hurts like Heaven and Major Minus live are fantastic, but on the record they've lost all their soul and character - Chris just sounds lifeless
