Kurt Cobain voted as biggest rock 'n' roll hero
Awwww, thank you Steph! That's quite a compliment, for me! :nice:  You know what's really scary and sad about this? The top two heros are/were both deeply disturbed. Cobain killed himself, Doherty is destroying his body and mind. And people are looking up to this?! That is SO sad. :( I hate to see that...

Interpol
I haven't seen any recent pictures of him, so I couldn't comment... Unless someone would want to post some... :wink3: Or direct me to them... I don't know, my nose sort of is like Paul's... LMFAO It's got that flat part up near the top and it's a LITTLE off kilter. (I fucking hate my nose, anyone want to chop it off for me? :( ) But I've never done coke. I'm not saying I think they have never done it and they're absolutely perfect. But I don't think it's that bad. I don't know though. Just thinking out loud ;)

Kurt Cobain voted as biggest rock 'n' roll hero
My top 10 heros, and I really don't know who can argue with these people's greatness. Maybe their ranking (that's personal, for me)... But they're a lot better than NME's top ten. Jesus... 1. Bob Dylan 2. Bono 3. John Lennon 4. The Edge 5. Johnny Cash 6. Bruce Springsteen 7. Elvis Presley 8. Jimi Hendrix 9. David Bowie 10. Mick Jagger/Keith Richards (equal love for both of them, lmfao) They've all altered our social, political and mental conscience. They've all had some major impact on the music industry. Whether they grace the covers of NME week after week shouldn't matter. Whether they shoot heroine into their eyeballs shouldn't matter. Whether they're cool and fuck a lot of chicks shouldn't matter. The fact that they've all had an impact on us (whether we know it or not) should matter. For ME, this list is just sad. And it's the last nail in the coffin that just shows me how blind society has really come. People would rather listen to something, or look up to someone, who fills an imediate void, instead of investing themselves into something more (like, say, listening to Dylan's lyrics). Idiots. Wow. Yeah. I'm so done.

So much beauty in the world....
A few weeks ago I finally saw the movie American Beauty. Now, whatever you think about the film doesn't matter. I thought it was very good. But there was one part that completely stood out to me. Lester Burnham: [narrating] I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time... For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars... And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street... Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper... And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird... And Janie... And Janie... And... Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. Have you ever had that feeling? Just a moment of utter peace, happiness and calm where you realize that hey, this world isn't THAT bad. Infact, it's quite beautiful.

Kurt Cobain voted as biggest rock 'n' roll hero
So true. 3/4ths of the people on that list (and I would even argue ALL of them) wouldn't be there without him. Or Elvis. Or even The Beatles as a whole. I like to see Bowie on there, glad to see that people still remember him... but what the fuck? Sacrifice legends for today's hot items. And don't get me wrong, I actually love Alex Turner. Legend? No. My future husband? Yep. LMFAO wtf. Why am I so pissed off about this????

Kurt Cobain voted as biggest rock 'n' roll hero
Oh and EXCUSE ME NME, but WHAT ABOUT BOB FUCKING DYLAN?! *moans* People have no taste anymore! EDIT: lmfao. NME. More like "NME to Good Taste" *bitching is fun!*

Kurt Cobain voted as biggest rock 'n' roll hero
What a pile of processed shit. *big yawn* And frankly, I don't see why people pee on themselves with excitement everytime it comes to Kurt Cobain. Sorry guys, hope I don't insult anyone, but I hate him. And Nirvana. A lot. Rock 'n Roll hero? No. Definately not. I won't insult the music, I swear I won't do that because I know how personal people would take that... but god. He never did any good for me. No hero of mine. Also featuring in NME's Heroes Poll are stars including Liam Gallagher, Morrissey, Pete Doherty, David Bowie, Ian Brown, Joe Strummer, John Lennon, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl and Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner. Fucking idiots. Doherty? So killing yourself slowly is an atribute for a "Hero"? John Lennon should win, the fact that he is even LISTED with those other people is an insult to him and his memory. And I love half those people (Liam, Alex, Ian, Bowie, etc) but... John Lennon and Doherty on the same list. Christ. I might just go cut my eyes out right now. Unbelievable.

Is bush the worse president in Amreican history ..
I read about that (someone posted it in the CCC section), I had no idea the Senate was so strongly opposed to the plan. It's one of the few things that I'm proud of our president about. AIDS and the humanitarian crisis' in Africa and other third world countries cannot be political issues. Sadly, they are. And because of the war between the left and right, the real purpose is lost. I blame our Senate and Congress for that.

Blab list-
I voted for U2. People are annoying. At least I'm intelligent about my choice. Hmph.

Is bush the worse president in Amreican history ..
I saw her, Camille, interesting you mention that. I was impressed by her, definately. Very, VERY impressed. She definately knows what she's talking about, and she's incredibly smart. My only problem with her (and the reason I would never vote for her if she ran for President) is that she's too much of a "yes sir" person. I respect her devotion to the administration, but... If she's going to run herself, she's going to have to start stepping out AS herself and not just continue to be the go to girl for yes answers. You know what I mean? I was really impressed by her though, wow. What a great speaker.

Bush Proposes New Amendment to Congress
My beef that I've always had isn't about people's morals (because believe me, I realize how hard and almost impossible it is to completely change your belief system), but the fact that people can't realize that it's not really about that... It's about the legality of it. It just goes against what this country was "supposedly" founded on, equality for all, etc etc.

Favorite Subject (academic)
I absolutely DESPISE math and science with such a passion. Mainly because of the teachers I've had, who've killed any desire towards the subjects that I may have had. It's really a shame. But I'm struggling to pass chemistry as it is this year, and luckily I'm taking neither of those subjects next year, my senior year. I looove english, I've never gotten a grade in that class lower than a B+. I love history as well, and any social commentary/humanities class. I do well in language as well, for me it's Spanish. I know people who struggle SO much in these classes though, and sometimes I find it hard to understand. For me, writing a 10 page essay on British imperialism in the Congo is a breeze. But for others it could take years and 200 panic attacks to do. It must be something to do with the brain's makeup...? Huh.

Bush Proposes New Amendment to Congress
Glad to hear that, Nick! I like to see people come to realize how wrong it is to deny people their rights based on such a little thing as sexuality.

Best concert other than Coldplay?
Hey, welcome to the forum! Awesome taste in music, by the way. I'm going to see Arctic Monkeys in concert in just about a month, I'll tell you how it is ;)

Lessons from Africa...ONE.org
Thanks so much for posting this! I checked out the links and signed the petitions. I can't believe our Senate would cut AIDS... aid. That's one of the few things I thought Bush had really done well.
