  1. If I had to give my opinion, I would say: -2002/2003 (in those days his style gave the impression of a "simple guy" enjoying music, which mirrors the inner reason why he started his career) -VLV (in that era he seemed to be a solid "character", as if he was part of a story) -Ghost stories (I appreciate the simplicity of the outfits, which fitted well into the low-key atmosphere of the album). Despite appreciating X&Y, his style in that period isn't among my favourites (except for the curly hair, which of course I love). However, I can understand the choice to prefer dark and plain clothes to give more space to the music and lights during the shows. In this sense, it worked pretty well.
  2. Toronto 2006 and Isle of Wight festival 2006 stole my heart💘
  3. Not among my favourite songs, but not a song I would skip if it came on while listening something else. Obviously, that's my opinion🥰
  4. @Thesunmustsettorisewelcome on the forum!🥰
  5. Hi Lucia! Welcome💛 I am Italian as well!
  6. I feel this!
  7. That's impressive as a change!🤣 I don't know if this counts as a misread lyrics, but in 'Always in my head' at the beginnings I always hear "portami via", which in Italian means "take me away"
  8. I think one of the issues is that it is a challenge to create a cohesive setlist, because they have recordered albums which are very different from each other in terms of style. For example, transitioning from a song from Parachutes to the ones of AHFOD/MOTS in the same concert clearly requires some sort of pianification. So, more VLV or X&Y songs would definitely imply a reorganization of their setlist, but I agree that it would be great to add them, even if they were performed occasionally or on rotation🙂
  9. It's a bit weird to me. I think that if they have chosen to delete at least temporary Coloratura from the setlist, it would be even more weird to close the concert with a song from a previous era... Therefore, the choice for the closer boils down to the songs of MOTS, and given that many are already included in a "fixed" position in the setlist, this is the one which seems to be available for this purpouse. However, I still find it weird (probably because the song itself hasn't grown on me that much) Feel free to disagree🙂
  10. I don't have the impression it was pre-planned. Chris was trying to buy time because of the onstage fire; that fan in that moment was the best chance Chris had to distract the audience and therefore to avoid panic. However, pre-planned or not, honestly, I don't care... I mean, they played Gravity live in front of an audience for the first time in almost 20 years. And to me it sounded so good, that I'm a bit upset they have waited for so long before performing it live😅 Feel free to disagree, but it's one of my favourites I was wondering if they would have played Gravity regardless of the fire during this show, if they were reharsing the song for future shows or simply for themselves...
  11. Same for me. The first time I listened to it, it was a gut-wrenching experience. I remember having difficulties in listening the album from start to finish for the first time. The opener, Always in my head, really sets the tone for the whole album. It was like peeping into someone else's private issues, so not that easy to digest for me. Overall I think that in this album they achieved a good balance between songs which are uplifting and songs which are emotionally darker. To me the strength of the album is that, being developed from personal experiences, it is definitely sincere. I also appreciate the thematic cohesion and the risks they have taken on in terms of musical experimentation.

  13. Hi! I've also decided to tell my story, because I enjoy reading all your answers! The first songs I can remember are Coldplay songs of AROBTTH (Clocks in particular). My dad plays the guitar and at that time he had some interest for Coldplay music; however, I was only 5 yo, so a bit too young to really get consciously into Coldplay. In 2008/2009 my interest for the band became a conscious curiosity, and I started to follow them more and more. I remember as if it happened yesterday that a friend of mine during a school trip in 2009 made me listen to VLV and Fix you and that for me it was mind blowing. I actually lost a bit of interest during the Ghost stories era, not because of the band itself, but because of personal issues which were going on in my life. During those years I remember listening to X&Y a lot; the music of that album really got me through a very hard period, the lyrics could speak to my soul as nothing else could... and that's also why X&Y is my favourite album. At university (so, during the last 5 or 6 years basically), I've found again my passion for the band, and here I am 😉 I recently discovered that a collegue which works with me is a fan, so we have some common interest 😌
  14. Oh well I didn't actually know about this performances of Politik during their last tour, good news anyway! Thanks for sharing😁 Yes, I know that the lenght of the song is an issue to deal with especially with Coloratura at the end, but I I'll keep my fingers crossed for some occasional performances of it🤞
  15. I feel you, especially for Moving to Mars and TKC lol 😅 @Coeurli I agree with your setlist, but to me the chances of a live performance of Politik are limited; it's quite an heavy song in a certain sense, so I can't really imagine it being played along with the rest of the setlist, but maybe I'm wrong... needless to say, if Politik were perdormed live, that would be awesome😍 Everything's not lost doesn't seem so unlikely to be performed, at least on rotation with other songs, because it was played in Seattle some months ago (I think it was in Seattle, but I'm not sure about this)
  16. @The Jordanator who knows, really. The last thing humanity needs is a war. I'm sick to death of living in a state of permanent anxiety due to what happens in the world. The pandemic was unpredictable, but still it happened, and now we have a war in Europe. Yesterday I felt devastaded by the news. I'd like to tell you "Tomorrow everything will be ok (or at least better than today)", but I fear the situation is a bit more complex than I can understand. Chris will forgive me for stealing one of his favourite sentences. I don't know if there is on this forum someone who is directly affected by the war (on both sides), but I send you all my love. Unfortunately there is not much more I and millions of people can do at the moment, but praying for you💛 As for the band (and in general, for the whole music industry), I obviously hope that the upcoming tour will be regular. Probably in some weeks we will have a more defined idea about this. I'm trying to be positive about this aspect
  17. What I hope is that, at the end of the day, their commitment to the causes they have supported throughout these years could give results which are more relevant than the incoherences. As we've already said, compromises are somehow embedded in the system the band is in; however I'm still hoping for a positive outcome of some of their choices, even if, of course, their positions sometimes come across as a bit debatable Which type of connection do they have with Amazon exactly? I don't know that much about this...
  18. @lennyrott1 yes, it's incredibly difficult to evaluate such a complex matter from an outsider perspective. But I basically share most of what you have written. I'd also like to point out, as you mentioned, that Coldplay as a band are part of a system and so, for obvious reasons, their choices are at least partially shaped by the need to survive in this system. To me this explains the reason why sometimes their positions seem a sort of compromise between supporting a relevant cause (eg the environment) and embracing the current state of things. Beside this, there are also personal factors which play a different role in collective and in individual choices. When people decide as a group, there is the tendency to balance each other's positions; when you decide alone, your choices are generally more heavily influenced by your personality, experiences and expectations.
  19. I've a question. I've had a terrible day and as usual in such cases, I've decided to listen to music to improve a bit my mindset. Now, I've just listened to The Scientist, the official live version in Madrid uploaded on their official YouTube channel. I've noticed that there is now the infinity sign in the corner of the video. So, I've checked other videos (randomly, actually) and the same thing happens. I've not watched their official YouTube videos for a while, so I was wondering, is this sign new and means something? Or was it already there weeks ago, but I didn't notice it?
  20. Yeah, I think it would've been a bit weird to see the whole band in this video. I was actually expecting a Chris-only video for this song, even before the teaser. But maybe if there'll be a video for POTP there will be some more chances to see all the members.. Definitely agree... another iconic one with only Chris to me is the video for Magic
  21. @CP-EST thank you for answering! 😊 You're right, there's also a car as a common theme, I didn't notice it! my guess was simply about some kind of possible relation between the two acronyms, just because we know that the guys (Chris particularly) are fans of the films. So I thought that the acronyms could be somehow related and that maybe there is also a connection between this and the musical album. In all sincerity, I agree with you and I also think this is more possible as an option (plus I would love an album of unreleased songs). Howver in October we didn't know about the musical project, so there wasn't any chance to speculate on the connection film-acronyms-musical album at that time. As I was saying, mine is a random guess based on the pattern of the acronyms. Anyway, I can't wait to come back in this thread in two years time to read if any theory was near to what will happen😁
  22. I'll try a random guess. My dad was watching "Back to the future" yesterday and this though came to me... "Back to the future" initials: BTTF. We have had a FFTF. I couldn't avoid finding the connection. Also because if I'm not wrong Chris mentioned the film in a recent interview. Any ideas?
  23. I may be completely wrong of course, but so far I don't really think we have any kind of hint at a possible solo career for Chris, or at the fact that they are going to split up... I can't relate to this possibility at the moment simply because there isn't any official (but also unofficial, actually) statement now. Maybe in the future they will say something about this. However, I agree with you about the idea of a tour after their last album, as well as about the fact that the guys will find other businesses for their future spare time; but this doesn't necessarily equate their end as a band (at least, that's what I hope and what I think) This is my personal opinion, so feel free to disagree😌
  24. I think that all boils down to what we intend with the word "masterpiece", because there are several albums in their production which could share that title. I find it tricky to think about this in absolute terms. Plus the album is the final outcome of an era, and this makes things more complex. To me, Viva was their masterpiece. However there are other albums which are gems in their own ways and come close second. I don't like every album of theirs, but I want to think that for every album they have tried their best. I know that they will never give a definitive answer, but it would be cool to ask what the band thinks about this. After all, it's their work, so they could give quite a different vision from the generally shared one! (but I suspect their answer wouldn't be x and y, as far as we know😅). Or maybe they would say their masterpiece is yet to come, who knows
  25. Either they have decided to be a bit more low-key this time in the promotion, or also the following album will get a huge promotion and it's probably a matter of time. I'll go for the second option (personal opinion)
