That's true, both Violet Hill and Viva la Vida were released before the album. Surprised no-one else mentioned that.

It always has been in the past. I agree 100%. Coldplay are at their best when they're darker and slightly heavier I feel.

With all due respect, it's a bit ridiculous to write off a song before you even hear it. As I said, I'm not a fan of the artwork, title or lyrics either but lets reserve final judgement for when we hear the whole song, yes?

So glad I found this thread. Pitchfork probably got it right with this quote - If there's one band that shouldn't be releasing lyrics before people hear the actual music, it's probably Coldplay. I mean lets be honest, Chris has never been the greatest lyricist in the world. Just listen to Viva la Vida. But they usually manage to get away with less-than-amazing wordplay because of the way the music sounds and the melodies flow so I tend not to care. But releasing all the lyrics before the song itself was a bad move for them. Reading the words without having any sort of melody going along with it just makes them seem awful. And I'm sure knowing these lyrics before actually hearing the song is going to be quite distracting when I finally hear it on Friday. The cover artwork is disappointing too, the tacky use of fonts looks like something I could've done at home. A real shame given how great I thought the Multicolour Man looked. If the graffiti theme is what they're going for then they probably could've just graffiti'd the song tag on a wall and taken a photo of it or something. Though that might prove too similar to the Viva la Vida single artworks. Who knows. The new look... couldn't care less really. Though I would prefer it if they dropped all this costumes nonsense and just go back to looking like a normal rock band. It would make it easier to take them seriously. And "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" is a terrible terrible song title no matter how you look at it . However, hopefully none of this will matter too much when it comes to finally getting to hear the song. It could sound like anything for all we know, though I'm hoping it won't be a Christmas Lights II or anything like that.

Mnemonics & Murals might not be the greatest title in the world, but bear in mind the last album was called "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". Anything is gonna be an improvement over that. Anyway, the only thing I'm believing at the moment is that we're going to get a new single in the next couple of days. Heh, I was about to do that. Though you've done a better job than I would've. Has anyone else tried singing the lyrics over it?

I'm listening to the Pulp song of the same name right now.

I'm more interested in whether or not TV on the Radio are still gonna be included on that bill.

My friend was cranking their tunes when I was in the car with him yesterday. I know of The Jezables but never really bothered to get properly aquainted with any of their tunes. But I was really struck by how incredible the drumming on these tracks were. And the vocalist has quite the range, too. Should listen to more from them.
