Yeah, I'm not overly impressed with this song either. But lets face it - it's a b-side for a vinyl which will only be availible for one week and wasn't featured on any lists of songs that would potentially make the album (unless it's been renamed, but it's not on the album anyway)

Haven't actually gotten a proper chance to listen yet though on first glimpse Letting You is brilliant.

Well we don't know that for sure, though it's highly possible due to the Japanese edition of VLV having a different version of Lost as a bonus track. I guess when the Germans get this CD and there's a big hip-hop beat we'll know. :P

Yeah, it will be released as a CD in Germany but nowhere else to my current knowledge. Certainly not the UK.

First I'd like to defend and say that both Speed Of Sound and Fix You are AMAZING and underrated. But I agree. The first single never has the habit of being strongest, it's usually 2nd or even 3rd which defines the brilliance of the album. Which is why I'm not worried by Violet Hill. In fact I'm really excited!

With the combined songs, what are the transistions between song a and song b like? And what about Cemeteries of London? I'm certain I've heard that was considered as a single.

The promo CD and the commericial CD are different, the promo cd will have 1 track (Violet Hill) and should be internationally availible though only on eBay and record collecting sites like that. The other CD is German and is more or less a normal CD single with a preview of Lost as the b-side. It wouldn't be fair to exclude certain regions from gaining certain b-sides hence no new ones with this release. Though I'm confident the next single (42?) will have a proper international CD release with proper b-sides.

According to amazon.de there will be a continental europen single of Violet Hill on CD - http://www.amazon.de/Violet-Hill-Coldplay/dp/B0018DCGLY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1209537226&sr=8-1 It says it's gonna be released May 9 and the b-side is Lost (though that may not be true). Still it's interesting enough for speculation! And just so you know, it is very rare for Amazon to stock promo CDs so this might be the real deal! (just not released in the UK)

Dont worry I just found out - that's a link to the Uk and rest of the world store. There are seperate Australian and American Coldplay stores. And no, they dont have Viva La Vida yet, at least last time I checked.

Yeah it looks like a promo CD, usually only 1 track and given to radio stations. All singles released to radio have promo CDs. Sometimes it's just a white card or something but sometimes they do it like here and make it look extra nice. However it wont be a UK release, though you can import it from overseas. It's not uncommon for bands to release different singles in different regions.

But since we know about the NME 7" already, can we discuss the VLV LP? I've seen pre-order links for Gatefold CD and Standard CD but no LP as of yet.

What I thought of Coldplay albums Parachutes - meh AROBTTH - Great X&Y - Amazing! And hopefully judging by Violet Hill VLVODAAHF - Even better!
