  1. Affluenza. Seeing people queueing for hours at 6am or whatever last week when Currys and PC World and everyone else said they were slashing prices and having huge sales was bonkers, as was Sky News talking about cheap property in the USA and how now might be a good time to invest. Or will spending actually help this at all? I don't know, it just seems a bit ironic and a sad reflection of the times we're living in. Actually I guess it does make sense to want to buy stuff when it is cheaper than usual. Now I'm really confused and don't know what I'm going on about at all. Biscuits.
  2. Manchester turned their Christmas lights on yesterday. Now, call me a pedantic party pooper if you want, but that is a total waste of electricity/money considering it's still f**king October.
  3. She used to sing (*ahem*) in a s**t vocal harmoney group (girl band). She left for some reason, then went on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and... I don't actually know what else she has done. Typical Big Brother-esque 'celebrity' for doing f**k all, a blister on the face of the earth.

Well, I always try but usually fail - just been lucky these last 2 last nights. I have a total of 4 now - Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane, Elbow, Seth. And Richard Ashcroft, but that was given to me, so that doesn't really count. Actually, I might have a Coldplay one too. I can't actually remember (must check...)

Jesca's 'genre' on MySpace is down as "Mad Music". Quite quirky, dreamy - acoustically anyway, not listened to the full band CD yet. Guy introduced her and said, "It's only her becuase we couldn't afford to bring the rest of her band!" - bless. Have a listen here... http://www.myspace.com/jescahoop Guy: "Mark's kid did his first poo in a potty today! It'll be 'Here's a tenner now f**k off to the cinema' before you know it" :P Fan to Guy: "I want your kids!" Guy: (In shock) "You have my kids or you want my kids?!"
  6. Seth was absolutely incredible tonight. The support band were excellent too - I got their CD signed after the gig :D Can't remember their name (began with B...) but they were 3 lovely Swedish girls who played Sexy-Stockholm-Folk-kinda-thing. No idea how Seth does that every night - such a fast, energetic performance (with a few slightly slower ones here and there in between for him to catch his breath) - I actually got a stitch at one point from all the clapping, stomping, head-bopping - mad! I bagged one of the setlists so I shall post it when I recover it from the car later (it's currently pouring down).

I was there too Alison, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Newborn was gorgeous, Weather To Fly was amazing, Leaders Of The Free World was mental, as was Grounds For Divorce. I got a set list at the end too - I'll post it... unless anyone who's going to see them soon doesn't want it spoiled?
  9. It's like studying Shakespeare!

What time have Jessica Hoop and Elbow been coming on at?
  11. I'm not an expert, but if it's editing/recording software you're after to record yourself playing then you'll need Audacity, Cubase, Cakewalk, Garage Band, Pro Tools or Logic. If you're looking for composition software then Finale Notepad/Song Writer/Allegro should do the job, as Tnspieler1012 suggested. If you're after drums then download Tabtrax, tab the drum part out and play/record it using Audacity or similar. EDIT: Ahh free... well then Audacity will be your best bet. I'm not sure if any of the others I mentioned have a free downloadable version do they? And Finale Notepad is free too.
  12. That video is closer to what Chris plays in the acoustic version. The actual notes that Jonny plays are: E E E D E E E G F# F# F# A D D D F# http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3024/lostguitarwm1.png
  13. Do you mean something like Audacity?
  14. Would that be the back door?
  15. Poor Man's Heaven - Seth Lakeman Great lyrics, great stories, great voice, great musicianship, great instrumentation, great harmonies, great drums, great handclaps, brings a smile to your face, will make a s**t day not so s**t, will make a good day even better. Listen to this! These are my other favourite albums from this year: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2575865post2575865
  16. I went to Steve Coogan's live show on Monday night. Twas fabulous.
  17. Won't spending even more in these sales at Currys etc do more damage?
  18. Did someone say Christmas? Ah yes, that great time of year when we purchase material goods as symbols of love because marketers tell us to. Hang on, don't we do that anyway? Everyday is Christmas Day!
  19. When it's played live the actual beat is played as a backing track. Guy plays that big bass drum, but he isn't sticking to the conventional bass drum pattern on the track, he's adding a few extra hits here and there, and Will plays on his middle tom to make it look like he's doing something, even though I don't think there's any tom in the actual recording of it.
  20. Just pick out however many songs you intend to use at random. There'll be loads more opportunities to share the rest :) I hope the person that got mine found at least 1 track they like. I put a couple of unconventional tracks on mine!
  21. It's NME, people. I'd take that review and her opinion with a pinch of salt.
  22. I'm sure you're song choices wouldn't ruffle any feathers. Just go with your gut feeling. You can always upload the rest and post the links to them separately.
