Manic Street Preachers
I don't really get what his point is. Good band, but he's a bit of an idiot really. Case of pot calling the kettle black, what makes it ok for him to jump on the political bandwagon but when others do it it aint cool? Oh well, every idiot must have his day.

Singles 1999-2006 = only 1 more EMI CD?
Does the release of the 1999-2006 Singles Boxset mean that Coldplay will only release 1 more album with EMI/Parlophone, as the contract is 5 - does the Singles count in this contract? Because Embrace had a 4 album contract with Hut so released Fireworks: The Singles to quickly complete the deal and get another management label...

The Offical "The Killers" Thread
Brandon Flower's voice sounds quite different on Sam's Town compared to Hot Fuss, anyone else noticed that? It's that facial hair I think... Great albums either way.

Gun laws
Is it any wonder why things like this happen: Posted by a student on facebook.com: Mr. Cafferty, from CNN, posed this question. Are gun control laws likely to change in the wake of the Virginia Tech shooting? I am a proud graduate of Virginia Tech's Mechanical Engineering Department and currently a distance learning graduate student. We all must admit that our current society has issues and problems. Acts of violence seem to continue to occur every few years and the media states opinions and jumps to conclusions. Let us think outside the box for one moment. Police officers are trusted to carry hand guns everyday and many police officers retire without ever discharging their weapon. However, in my opinion the old adage “it’s better to be prepared and not need it than not be prepared and need it” applies in today’s society. I believe one way to deter senseless mass killings and terrorist threats is to increase the number of trusted members in society, who are willing and trained to meet force with force. Imagine changing one parameter in the events of 16 APR 07. Let us imagine that a local police officer was going to school part time at Virginia Tech working on earning a degree in engineering. Imagine the officer was carrying his off duty weapon. Imagine this officer had a 9:05 class on the second floor of Norris Hall when a heavy armed gunman began chain the doors. Would today’s events have been altered? Empowering civilians to defend themselves is a fundamental necessity in today’s society. I believe the only way our society can deter violent acts is to give trusted civilians within the community the tools needed to deter these horrific acts. All comments and thoughts are welcome. God bless the entire Hokie Community! "I believe the only way our society can deter violent acts is to give trusted civilians within the community the tools needed to deter these horrific acts. " - RIDICULOUS!!! F**KING BAN GUNS FULL STOP!

How you see the world?
Angels and Demons is a great book, what an ending, I hope you enjoy it. There is a movie of it being released next year by the way, I can't wait!!! Anyway, I agree that John Lennon was like the second coming, the lengths he went to to change the world and spread the word of peace. 'Give Peace A Chance' should still be getting 24/7 radio airplay today to drive it into the heads of the morons that rule the world that shooting people and invading nations is a ridiculous way of sorting out problems. I've never understood war and I never will, and nobody will change my opinion. This is quite a big topic to cover extensively. There's so much wrong with the world! It's ridiculous that people are starving every single day, it's ridiculous that footballers and footballer's wives get more money for doing nothing than nurses and doctors who SAVE PEOPLES LIVES! People in general are morons. The other day I was waiting to cross the road and a guy pulled down his car window and spat at me, totally unprovoked. Yesterday I was taking a walk with my family and some kids on bikes coming towards started doing crazy bike stunts right as we passed each other which really pissed me off, and some other kids who were playing with a football/soccer ball near us started kicking it manically at us and around us when we walked past. It annoys me that girls get pregnant at 13 and then sponge off benefits for the rest of their lives, it annoys me that Tony the clown Blair is actually paying them these benefits. Politicians in general annoy me, spawn of the devil. It annoys me that we are constanly warned about climate change, yet we are bombarded with competitions to win gas guzzling cars - total bulls**t. People always have been and always will be the root of all evil.

The Least Wussy Moment In Coldplay History - Martin Tells Paps to "F*ck off!"
I just looked at the other news items on this site. Apart from the above video of Chris and Gwyneth coming out of the restaurant, there was the showbiz magazine rumour about their marriage falling apart, an article about Chris' awful hair and a rubbish review of the singles boxset by NME. Let's go through these and review how totally rubbish the press, newspapers and paparazzi is. I know you shouldn't be surprised by them but I've held my tongue for too long. Restaurant incident, already been discussed, go Chris. The hair - I know loadsa people that have messy kind of hair and it looks fine, but Chris gets highlighted. And NME are the biggest assholes in the music industry, well, one of the biggest, there are a lot after all. It's gone from a well respected music magazine to kissing the band's ass and saying Coldplay are gonna be great etc, to a cliche indie/topshop rock/emo-wars mag that tells the reader how to look exactly like Ricky from The Kaiser Chiefs. It's official, the press are assholes.

A Clockwork Orange
Yeah I thought parts of the movie looked quite pop arty - I'm not an art expert but I learnt a tiny bit in art class a few years ago in school.

Pop Secret, Amsterdam
I found a torrent of the concert for Holland's 'Pop Secret' show - is this the show that they did after that Dutch TV interview where Chris got upset that a DJ called Leo didn't like them lol? Beuase they said they have a show in Amsterdam that night and I was wondering if it was the Pop Secret show, or if it was another one.

Clocks drums
Like he plays the bass drum constantly throughout the song without stopping, instead of just in between when he hits the snare drum.

Good music is gone.......
Give The Verve a listen if you haven't already, and Doves also. And Blur also, great British talent that's very different to a lot of the 'indie' stylee bands that are out at the moment. I discovered a great singer today called Skye Edwards, totally by chance, and now I'm even thinking of buying her album! Yes I know, success hey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Edwards http://myspace.com/myskyesite MySpace is a great way of finding new music that's totally different to what's played on the radio - Chasing Cars anyone? Great song, but has anyone else felt the urge to throw something at a radio when it's being played for the millionth time. I'm going off topic now, but yeah there is lots of great music, you just have to look for it. Oh yes I meant to say, Embrace are so under rated - if you want to see a band, other than Coldplay, that do what they do cos they love music then I suggest you buy Out Of Nothing CD/DVD, watch the documentary on the DVD of the secret gig tour, you'll see what I mean. PS. I know Embrace have had high charting albums an' all, but still they don't seem to get the plaudits they deserve. And they're mates with the Coldplay boys! What more could you want from a band.

A Clockwork Orange
"it's just one of those strange films.......what are they called?(I forgot)....." I don't know if it's the word you are thinking of, but I believe A Clockwork Orange falls into the category of 'dystopian novel' - dystopia being the opposite of the idealistic utopia. Other books/movies that fall into this category are 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, Children Of Men. Sort of a warning to future generations not to f**k things up... too late I guess lol. You could discuss the idea of dystopia for aaaaaaaages because of the huge relevance it has on modern society; CCTV cameras, government cencorship, ridiculous laws stating that children will go to prison if they leave school before they are 18 years old in the UK, you get the idea. I love this whole dystopian idea and wrote essays on it in my English Literrature classes as I'm sure many of you guys on here have, everyone seems to have read 1984 or something similar in English at some point or another. The number of comparisons you can draw between them and society today is amazing.
