RUBIK'S CUBE
i've solved two sides before... that was mostly luck. one is easy though... there's some trick to doing it that lets you do it almost instantly if you know how... obviously stephen does. :P

favorite quote
"It takes a lot to make me crazy But a lot is always going on" that's Built To Spill, it's my favorite right now because i can certainly relate. i'm sure if i started thinking outside the realm of pop music i'd come up with much better, but i spend a lot more time with my music than i do leafing through a Pynchon novel, you know? although i did find this nice little nugget of cynicism: If you can do a half-assed job of anything, you're a one-eyed man in a kingdom of the blind. -Kurt Vonnegut

5 people at your fantasy dinner
my list'd be, based on people i'd like to talk to, and completely off the top of my head (which means it would be much better if i actually took time to think about it): Brian Wilson Kurt Vonnegut Leonardo da Vinci Adolf Hitler Jesus Christ i almost wanted to go with Osama bin Laden, but i decided he wouldn't really have too much interesting things to say, compared with Hitler. my list has two categories: people i'm interested in because of my fascination with the idea of feeling led by God (Hitler, Christ, bin Laden), and people i just think are absolutely brilliant (da Vinci, Vonnegut) Brian Wilson fits in both.

i think "everything in it's right place" is much better on kid a than it was live. they try to turn it into a big groove-fest but it's just not happening. it was cool enough the two times i actually saw them do it, and both times i was close enough to actually kind of see what jonny and ed were doing with their samplers, kaoss pads, etc., but it's just sooooo boring for me to listen to the version on the live album. but i still think if people think "Kid A" is weird, they should listen to the stuff that Kid A rips off. :P what was this thread about? oh right, Ellen DeGeneres. i think that the fact that she is so widely disrespected shows how little tolerance our society actually has for gay women, because she was a pretty popular comedian before she "came out of the closet." i still think she's funny. (gay men are cool with society though. thank you, "Queer Eye" guys)

candy/junk food/chocolate...
i'm such a nerd for knowing this. it doesn't take anywhere near 7 years for your stomach to process gum. in fact, gum exits your body along with the rest of your waste right on schedule. the difference is that it exits your body in nearly the exact same form as it had when it went in. so maybe that "7 years" thing is how long it would take to digest gum if it did remain in your stomach, but the fact of the matter is that it's only in there for a few days at the most. :D

I had an interesting night.
The original plan was to go see the Unicorns, who, as some of you may know, are an awesome band. My friend, who lives outside the city, drove in and met me at my place, then we had some dinner and walked to the venue, which was only about a 25 minute walk away. When we get to the venue, we get inside, and Phil starts complaining that he has that "pins and needles" feeling all over his entire body. I ask if we should go down the street and get a bottle of water (it's a really small venue that will let you back in if you leave), so he says yeah, and we make it around the corner when he's hit with a wave of dizziness and sinks to the ground. I ask if he's ok, he says yes, then about a minute after he's stood up again, it happens again. He lays down on the sidewalk (keep in mind it's 25 degrees F out and most things are currently covered in snow or salt), and about 10 minutes later, tries to get up again, and this time loses consciousness completely and hits the ground. Hard. He comes to almost immediately but can't form words for another few minutes. At this point I'm freaking out, and of course my cell phone had broken the day before, so I can't call 911. A guy who works at the venue see what's happening, so he and I get him off out of the way and let him lay down, we give him our coats and call and ambulance, etc. The ambulance arrives shortly, and my friend is looking and acting a little better, but he's still afraid to stand up again. We're riding to the hospital, and the medic is asking him if he'd been drinking taking drugs, etc., and he replies, "No, I haven't done anything harmful to my body... oh wait, I got stabbed earlier today." So I can admire his sense of humor throughout the whole thing. Anyway, we get there, the ambulance guys make a remark about a film crew at the hospital (apparently the CBS show "Hack" is filmed practically in my backyard and I had no idea), and the people there have no idea what's wrong with my friend. Their best guess is that the extreme cold during the walk over combined with the immediate warmth of going inside made his blood vessels expand rapidly. Sounds plausible to me, because I know nothing about that kind of thing. So we take a cab back here, and now he's asleep downstairs (obviously he didn't feel up to driving home tonight after that whole ordeal), and hopefully he'll be ok tomorrow. That was my night. How was yours? :P
