I Miss Lovers in Japan
Add Lovers in Japan, 42 and Glass of Water. And Amsterdam! :) It will never happen of course....you know what I'd love, if they'd do a Bruce Springsteen and decide to play whole albums in their concerts. Like today Parachutes, tomorrow Viva, after tomorrow X&Y etc.

We've heard too many songs.
I was surprised they had debuted so many songs. I think if they had played ETIAW, MM and Moving to Mars, I would have been absolutely ok with that. Wud definitely be a lot more excited for the album! I'm also sure the live versions of the new songs are quite close to what the album version'll be so I'm not expecting too much of Hurts Like Heaven or Us Against the World. It's going to be a good album but with Viva La Vida there was a lot more secrecy about it and I'm not sure this is the best way to get fans excited.

Is This the Most Hate?
My view on the Mylo Xyloto era FOR NOW. The band have been moving into a new direction so it's quite a bold move. It has already excited some fans and got some into thinking 'WTF is this?'. I, for one, am a huge fan of Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. I liked all songs on it and it's my favourite album of all time plus it got me through some hard times. So forgive me if I'm biased a bit in what I'm going to say now. I absolutely feel that Viva was a powerhorse in terms of intensity, lyrical depth, melodies which were great and using new instruments well. Even songs like Lukas or Fun or Famous Old Painters instrumental were great, easy to hum melodies. Prospekt's March contained some great songs as well, Glass of Water. The song that disappointed me there was 'Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground' but even that is not bad. After that, 'Wedding Bells' was a great little tune even if it wasn't released. Even the weirds sounds in the South Bank show with Melvyn Bragg were brilliant, I hoped they'd be on the album in some way. Now, to Mylo Xyloto. I was ecstatic to hear some new material but I was pretty dumbfounded by 'Every Teardrop'. At first I really thought it was bad, but somehow most Coldplay songs are decent growers and so was ETIAW. I wasn't surprised that they released an EP after that, but what I really didn't expect was two songs on it would ALSO be on the album. For me, it's a bit of a rip-off, however you see it. I know it's a fan's choice to do what they want with their money but some paid for the same song twice. And will even pay for it again if they've preordered the album. Now, the songs. I like what I'm hearing but I'm not ecstatic about it; I don't feel the shivers down my spine as in '42' or imagining a perfect day like I was in 'Strawberry Swing' or finding some sort of associations in other songs like Viva La Vida, Violet Hill or Warning Sign or Sparks or...you catch my drift ;) The lyrics on Paradise and to some part ETIAW are just terrible. I'm not saying songs are terrible but the lyrics are not good enough. Most of you will agree with me on this I'm sure. Coldplay are at their best when they're most sincere and humble. UATW is a great example, a brilliant song, and I'm sure UIF has the same potential although it's kind of repetitive. But obviously EMI has pressured them into making some singles which have absolutely no real meaning and one will not find 'Paradise' or even 'Charlie Brown' the songs you could compare to Clocks or Fix You or In My Place or...I am even going to go and say that Coldplay will not have a hit like Viva La Vida on this album which was no.1. in both US of A and UK. I don't know, perhaps they've tried too hard this time? Maybe the three songs we haven't heard yet will improve the overall quality. When it comes out, it will generate massive hysteria and a lot of people will love it but will it stand the test of time and become a breaking point in Coldplay's career? I don't think so. I've still preordered the album, I'm sure I'm going to be playing it a lot, but I don't think it will generate as much happiness for me as the last album did ;) Simply my opinion.

I don't think this album will be as great as VLVODAAHF
haha were you at the Bowers & Wilkins session too? ;)
-
Moving to Mars vs Up In Flames
I too would like to hear the studio version of UIF, but I think I will still like MTM a lot more.

European Tour Announced!
Perhaps something more will be announced for January, I'm sure Vienna or Munich or Budapest will get their dates too, right?
-
Paradise Live
I don't like it too much in either version; it's just too poppy I feel. The video might be great so that might improve the whole situation for me ;)

Why do we hate "parapara" and "wawawa" but not "slowowowow"?
I have no problem with any of those, but this Para-para thing is a bit dull.

UIF WORLD DEBUT - watch the video
Hmmmm this can't be the next 'Fix You', it is a good song, a lovely ballad in the studio version but surely not one of the best yet. Probably fits in the concept that's why it's there.

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
I think something is obvious - one of the next singles will surely be Princess Of China now, it's inescapable, but I guess it will be a great song, Rihanna isn't the worst choice in the world and I'm sure if Chris says she sounds different on that song, he means so. It's good to have variety and I'm predicting it won't be the only collaboration on this album (someone has already mentioned he can hear The Pierces in 'Paradise' chorus, while Leo Cohen is bound to be in his own sample!) :D

If this goes on the setlist...
In My Place will stay there I think for a long time, it's one of their best stadium songs.

Mylo Xyloto Limited Edition Release Date 12/12/11!
It's about 80€ in total and about 15€ shipping to here, Slovenia. But I've still ordered it, I don't care! This could be para-para-para-dise! :D Seriously, it's gonna come with 320kbps mp3s on October 24, and the limited version will have some cool stuff - I'm just sorry they couldn't add a t-shirt with graffiti from the album cover!
-
Graffiti Murals
Wow brilliant!!!! By the way, I just noticed we were wrong with the line in UATW ('just erodes us in the rain') is actually 'just see roses in the rain'! (bottom left in red writing) and more lyrics but I wonder which song they belong to.
-
Official Tracklist!!!
I love Moving to Mars best too of all new songs.
-
Car Kids as a B-side?
I actually think Car Kids was the first name for Charlie Brown as there are various signs ('I took a car downtown where the lost boys meet,...all the boys all the girls"). I could be wrong but I don't think so! Maybe there will be a song that will be more suited to the 'Car Kids' theme.
-
Official Tracklist!!!
Ahh I guess there are none this time, can't see any hidden songs in an album of such magnitude. I wonder why they're going against their 'it has to be 42 minutes long' rule, because this has to be about an hour long!
-
Official Tracklist!!!
I am very happy to see the tracklist and know that we will hear 8 tracks brand new never heard before! There is absolutely no way we're getting an EP after the album; Chris said in an interview they were going to finish 13 songs; judging at that point three were already out in the world (Every Teardrop is a Waterfall EP), and two are on the album tracklist (ETIAW and MM), that must mean 12 songs out of 13 are on there, but one has been left out. Even that might be released as a b-side at some point. Does this make sense? I don't know, so excited about the whole thing! :D Compared to the material from Viva era, there were 22 songs released by Coldplay, and I'm not even counting Fun, Lukas or Famous Old Painters, which were also mixed and mastered. So, perhaps this now is a situation where they've just put everything out, and that's fine by me!
-
The Tracklisting
I wonder if Chris meant 13 songs with Every Teardrop, MM and MTM. If he did, that's not a big portion of songs compared to Viva era. We'll see how it goes but I'd really love if we hadn't heard most of the album just yet.
-
The Tracklisting
I think these songs will definitely be on there (MX, ETIAW, UATW, MM, POC, Up in Flames, DLIBYH and Paradise). THe tracklist as I would have wanted; 1. MYLO XYLOTO 2. MAJOR MINUS 3. PARADISE 4. U.F.O. 5. TOMORROW 6. UATW 7. DLIBYH 8. UP IN FLAMES 9. PRINCESS OF CHINA 10.ETIAW I would have been happy with this.
-
The Tracklisting
Hm, I've changed my mind too. 1. Mylo Xyloto 2. A Hopeful Transmission 3. Paradise 4. Charlie Brown 5. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 6. Princess of China 7. Major Minus 8. Us Against the World 9. Up in Flames 10. U.F.O. 11. Up With the Birds with possible additions of Tomorrow, Great Expectations (I think one of these two are instrumentals). HLH, MTM and DLIBYH might be left off the album I think.

LP5 Announced - Friday August 12th: MYLO XYLOTO (Join the Party!!!)
I think the album consists of: MYLO XYLOTO (MX) Hurts Like Heaven Major Minus Up in Flames Paradise Us Against the World Charlie Brown Princess Of China Luminous U.F.O. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Call me mad but I think this could be the tracklist! It's possibly 42 mins long but perhaps some more songs will appear as in LIJ/ROL. SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED. I just hope the pop-up version doesn't go on sale in the next 10 days when I'm on holidays!!!!

The secret story behind Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
I think if you want to explain something quite abstract, you find a way of doing it. I say it's a nice interpretation, but I guess it has very little to do with the way the band interpret the songs and their meanings. Hence it isn't a concept album.

COLDPLAY.COM DOWN (and so are the EMI servers)
NO, I don't think that happened for ETIAW announcement. I'm sure we'll have nothing today...I'm actually quite sure they'll still finishing and polishing the album! Christ!
