  1. If you have a look, a thread's already been created for this topic.
  2. Yes, the intro is incredible. And I'm just in love with the vocals as Chris sings, "How come they're out to get us," -- so amazing.
  3. Yeah, not going to lie -- I'm expecting something pretty brilliant. And I am certainly yet to be disappointed by anything new.
  4. Charlie Brown -- iTunes Festival. Chris' voice as he sings, "Be a cartoon heart," is so in tune with the harmony/backing vocals it gives me goosebumps. And has also caused the rewind button on my remote to fade a little. So brilliant. For HLH, I think they've gotten better with every performance, and as of now I can't stop listening to the Lollapalooza version. This thread, though, has totally made me want to check out each version again that people have mentioned just to hear what they thought made it stand out.
  5. Nice find, Joe -- extremely clear version. Love them.
  6. Looking through the Oracle posts, the only answer I could find that I suppose could seemingly give some the idea that MX is actually a full-length song, was this: August 23, 2011 - submitted by Jon, United States of America Q. Hi Oracle, I was wondering if the song played before Hurts Like Heaven during the festival circuit is actually called Mylo Xyloto and was just shortened to MX to avoid spoiling the title of LP5 before the title was officially announced. Thanks! The Oracle replies: Ta-da! I wondered when someone would pick up on that after what I had said about it in a couple of answers. MX did indeed mean Mylo Xyloto but at the festivals, as I did mention, it wasn't a full song, just a prelude/introduction to Hurts Like Heaven. And that to me doesn't actually state that MX is a full-length song. If she'd said "...it wasn't the full song," I might be more easily convinced, otherwise I'm needing someone else to point out what I'm missing here. If it turns out that MX is an actual song, my theory (and wish) about MX/HLH opening the album will be officially dashed...
  7. Okay, fair enough. I suppose that's where we differ then, because I'm not going to be thinking about the SkyOne ad whilst I listen to CB. I don't think of Grey's Anatomy when I listen to "Death & All His Friends," and for a little while there, that was the only version we had. Still, I'll appreciate your view point and just say it's a shame if that's all you'll be thinking about once you hear the full-length version.
  8. I have never had any qualms about listening to a leak, so I'm able to freely say (not that I've made any secret of it in the past) that I'll listen to the album if we do happen to get it any earlier than planned and not feel worried that it makes me any less of a fan, or that it's a show of disrespect toward the band. I know I'll be buying copies of the album, so pretty much I'm just playing the waiting game now.
  9. Okay, right. I got that MX was actually "Mylo Xyloto," but I hadn't deduced that it's actually a full-length song and only the intro (apparently) was used before HLH. Still not entirely clear where the Oracle has stated it is actually a song, though. From the little that has been written about it, I can't see where it's been made definitively clear -- unless I'm missing something?
  10. This possibly might be a double post, so I apologise if that's the case. FY42YC, Coldplay songs have been used many times though for different campaigns and adverts -- we had "Viva La Vida" for iTunes; someone previously mentioned that "Life In Technicolor" was used on SkySports a few years back; I've seen "Clocks" used in TV adverts for the Australian spring racing carnival -- and they're only a few examples. So having a song used like this isn't exactly new. I understand where you're coming from, though, and I totally appreciate your opinion, I'm just not entirely sure why this is a problem now when the only difference is that we haven't heard a complete studio version?
  11. I think the boys have pretty well established and conducted themselves in such a way that I really doubt there'd be any chance of them being talked into doing anything that they really didn't agree with or want to do (be that musically, promotionally, personally, or whatever). I'll be pre-emptive here, because I know that statement could be refuted by the comment Dave Holmes made in the Billboard article where he mentioned that in the beginning, the band weren't entirely keen on playing new songs on the festival runs, but Jonny turned around and said it was the best thing they could have done a few paragraphs later. I get that playing brand new, unreleased songs live is different to using a song in an advert, but my point is that I can't see that anything they've done to promote or build anticipation for this next album has involved anything that could be considered against their character/nature, nor has it been done against their will.
  12. It's a commercial for a television station promoting their new/returning shows, not an advert for Coke. I don't see a problem here.
  13. I thought the Oracle confirmed that MX did actually represent "Mylo Xyloto". Wasn't aware it was confirmed as an actual song/instrumental...
  14. I've always thought they were pre-recorded. And I think they're great. Some people are acting as if that's how the lead vocals are going to sound when I think that the live versions have demonstrated they are only there to provide a harmony and add to the context of the song. Besides which, that karaoke version isn't exactly a professional edit and even still, if you listen closely enough to the backing vocals in any of the live performances, you can hear that it doesn't sound as "auto tuned" as the YouTube clip may make it seem. (And there is absolutely a difference between auto tune and synthesisers -- and an important one at that).
  15. Yes, I like that -- can read the titles more easily and not as blinding as the outline with surrounding white.
  16. By effects I've always meant the backing track/vocals heard in the live versions. I fully expect Chris' voice to be normal and only be accompanied by the effects.
  17. Yeah, and slower, too. I think differences can be picked out between this and the live versions.
  18. Love the colouring of the text you used -- the album cover overlaid?
  19. There are two moments that absolutely cemented me as a Coldplay fan -- and one of them was from hearing "Fix You" on The OC. I just downloaded all their albums straight afterward and my love for them just continued to grow and grow and grow. Thankful for that. Immensely. "Charlie Brown" is going to kill in the charts, I'm positive of it.
  20. You know, the first few seconds of my first listen had me thinking it was just a cleaned up live version -- but yeah, it is definitely slower and I just think I can hear enough differences to discern that it actually is a studio version. Either way, this song is going to be fucking epic.
  21. It's been said multiple times before, but I'd guess that if any leak were to occur it would happen sometime between mid-to-late September and the release date. But you're right, BN, they are the biggest band in the world, and it is certainly one of the most anticipated albums of the year, and we've just seen Kanye & Jay-Z successfully avoid any type of leak -- even if their marketing and protocols differ from those used in the Coldplay camp -- so I don't think it could really come as much of a surprise if the new material doesn't see the light of day until planned. Doesn't mean I'm still not hoping to see it ASAP, though...
  22. Very impressed by the sound of this. :D
  23. If you listen closely at the end of this advert, the piano sounds very similar to what Chris plays after CB/before LIFL -- maybe it is an outro after all. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2l1Azm2FYA]Sky One Drama Advert Summer 2011 - YouTube[/ame]
  24. Oh, thank you! That tiny bit of piano heard at the end has me thinking that maybe the intro to LIFL is actually instead the outro of "Charlie Brown".
