  1. I just listen to something else tbh. I also like taking some breaks from Coldplay music from time to time. It gives a pretty nice "rediscovery" vibe when I eventually go back to listen to it regularly.
  2. lurker here. still no new on the live album huh? I must be one of the few bands of the band who really don't mind too much about it. We already have Live 2012 for the stadium era of the band.
  3. Funny how a member of ODESZA has Coldplay as his guilty pleasure while I certainly would consider ODESZA a guilty pleasure if I happen to like their music lol
  4. The White Shadows version of that footage is still the highlight of the X&Y era along with Clocks from Toronto of course
  5. And they even performed the song during the early legs on the AHFOD tour
  6. I still remember being so hyped for this song and the feeling of disappointment after listening the album version for the first time
  7. bumping this just to say that I'm thrilled Radiohead is coming to my country next year. I can't believe I'll be able to see my two favorite bands (Coldplay being the other one obviously) in the span of just 2 years!
  8. http://www.coldplay.com/oracledetail_pop.php?id=5736&page=0&iframe=true oh well
  9. Well we know he did sing it live at Kensington Palace at least, so is not like he cannot do the song anymore. Pretty much agree with what was posted above, I just wish they could have done it in a different way.
  10. They "full of surprises" thing could mean anything at this point. We'lI see. I have learned with time to just not take whatever Chris says very seriously. So my prediction is they'll just do their own version of whatever is hype during the time the album is released. Totally expect the band to go on full Imagine Dragons/Maroon5/Twenty One Pilots territory.
  11. Eh. I see your point but you have to understand Chris has a different mentality that he used to do back in those days and he probably won't act like he did a decade ago. He's always been a really nice and down to earth guy but I feel like he takes things less seriously and has embraced a very optimistic and positive approach of life. It has led to some really bland music mostly, but most of it sounds genuine. In the end they'll do what they want to do but I kinda envy the ones who keep believing in the band doing an album inspired by their roots/a return to the old sound. Like dieselbenz has said, they really seem to want to distance from the old sound.
  12. Most likely scenario for me. They just seem to enjoy playing stadiums and concerts full of anthems and "ooohs" way too much. Most people talked about Kaleidoscope EP as a "step in the right direction" but none of songs (except. for SLTJ) made it to the regular setlist during the final two legs of the tour. I honestly think they need a quite extensive hiatus (like around 2 years) but I don't see it happening.
  13. I'm going to be the pessimistic one and say I expect more of the same stuff we've been getting since 2011 from the band. I do hope I'm wrong.
  14. Thanks for inspiring me to hear PM after quite a while. What a hidden gem. Is the perfect embodiment of Coldplay at the VLV era. This fresh sound but not unrelated to their roots.
  15. still not sure why Coldplay keeps getting nominated in the "Best Rock" category but that small cover was pretty surreal lol
  16. New song must "Life is Beautiful". The other one has me intrigued, I hope is Politik but probably not.
  17. Yeah, I used to lurk the forums since around 2006 and joined in late 2007 because of all the hype for what ended up being VLVODAAHF. It certainly was the place to discuss and talk about Coldplay. Then MX came out in 2011 and seriously, it was a pandemonium. Those weeks in which we got ETIAW, then Paradise and the news about the Rihanna collab were brutal. I legit think many people just gave up on the band during that time. Then some others left after ASFOS was released and well, AHFOD and SJLT were the last straw for the remaining. The ones who stayed either honestly like the band's current output (nothing wrong with that) or just rely on the small bits of brilliance we get from time to time.
  18. I do hope they take a well deserved long break after their biggest tour ever. Chris voice needs it. To be honest I'm usually not very active in between eras because life obligations but I certainly plan to be active on the LP8 thread and whatever the guys are up to during that time. Even though the setlist seems to be on autopilot at this point, wish I could have secured a ticket for one of the South American concerts. Would have been a nice way to say goodbye to a sort of bittersweet era.

  20. I'm pretty sure there were serious sound issues during that Barcelona show. Something similar to what happened with Radiohead on Coachella earlier this year because I clearly remember reading in this forums back in 2009 that during some songs the crowd were chanting "No se escucha" ("we can't hear"). I think it was eventually fixed in the middle of the set but I always thought that was the main issue. Even R42 mentioned in one of his blogs.
  21. Seriously, why even bother with the request thing? They've been playing IMP/Don't Panic and either UATW/TKC for months now. Althought they did play Trouble a couple of times iirc.
  22. Well, that's how General Admision works in every single concert everywhere. I'm not really into the seats thing but we'll see if I say the same in 20 years when my body simply won't be able to stand the "General Admision" experience.
  23. Phil Spencer is a great guy
  24. It's pretty decent. This has been the era of awful remixes but this one stands out along with the Up&Up one, which I have to admit is a guilty pleasure of mine.
