Post of the thread!!!! i agree that rush of blood is a blaringly obvious omission. but do we really need someone to tell us that Rush of Blood is one of the best albums of the decade (if not all time as is Parachutes) so the albums they did include. well i only discovered Is This It a few months ago and wow it is an incredible record, it will most certainly feature near the top of my faves list. cant say i know much at all about primal scream or the libertines. couldnt agree more with AM's debut being put up there. it's a shame that NME cant accept that they are changing and becoming better as they get older. a little lower down the list. a little funny to see the two classic White Stripes albums back to back but both deserve their spot if not somewhere a little higher. a little surprised to see vampire weekend there. it was one of my faves from 08 but all this acclaim and attention is starting to make me think that it's slowly becoming a little overrated. biggest surprise for me was to see The Horrors sophomore Primary Colours make it in. that must mean they will be fairly high up the list for their end of year list and thoroughly deserve it too. top notch album i guess i love the list for the arists that have been recognised rather than the albums of theirs that made it, namely Yeah Yeah Yeahs (the quiet achievers of the decade), Arcade Fire (next radiohead in terms of critical acclaim?) Interpol and Radiohead.

but shes still technically "sold" that many as she doesnt get paid when someone buys the cd over the counter she gets paid when a record store or department store buys it. and you'll find that unlike big commercial releases lisa most probably started off a little slow and as people started to discover her the demand picked up.

yeah well said. thats the only real criticism i have of this list, it is rather predictable. i've been surprisingly pleased with some of the album of the decade lists that have come out of late. my favourite so far would have to be the list that Paste Magazine compiled.

you dont get badder boys than Karen O and PJ Harvey.

i wish this forum could filter out pointless non-sensical comments the same way it censors offensive words. but to the point of the thread. almost very impressed by the list. they have all the best albums there maybe not in the order i would like but at least they are recognised. and good to see a magazine that doesnt hesitate in having a band multiple times near the top of their lists when they deserve it. coldplay fans dont feel angry, the only reason they didnt make this list is because they are commercially successful not because of the quality of their music.

^^ imo it's one of the weaker songs on the albums. tracks like Oh!Hark, Neopolitan Dreams, Stevie, Clean White Love and Red Wine Lips are nothing short of brilliant. still very surprised So Jealous hasn't been a big mainstream hit for her. at 15 tracks long the album does feel a couple too long and with the 4 demos you get with the special edition its hard to stay interested all the way through. but any album that has a solid 10 strong tracks has my respect. re: idol. i dont think she ever had the idol stereotype. one of the reasons why she didnt win. i really enjoyed the series she was on (the 3rd one i think?) as it had a number of left field artists so she seemed more at home. since that season its just been one epic fail after another. and good on her getting Gold status in australia. selling 35 000 copies is a bigger deal than people think, especially in this day and age. the fact that shes still only 19 makes it even more incredible.

i'm getting the impression that Muse will not do any sideshows for BDO. i cant remember the last time it took this long for the headliner to announce their sideshows. neil young announced his shows before BDO line up was announced and year before RATM announced theirs only days after the first line up announcement. tool and white stripes similarly. reasons for them not doing sideshows. 1. their current stage is very elaborate and since they wont be able to use it at BDO, it would seem a waste to carry it around for just a couple of shows. 2. rod laver arena which would be the most likely venue for melbourne will be used for Aus Open, Sidney Myer music bowl i guess is another option (metallica did that in 04). 3. they have all but promised to be returning later in the year for a proper arena tour. The Horrors have announced some dates, at least according to Triple J they will be doing a sideshow at the Oxford Art Fatory in Sydney

Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their first gig together since the band's 'hiatus' in 2008. Playing MusiCares 2010 on January 29, the group will play their first full line-up show, featuring alongside others artists like Wilco, Norah Jones and James Taylor to pay tribute to Neil Young. Since the hiatus the individual members of the group have been concentrating on their own musical projects with Flea joining Thom Yorke's super-group being the most eye-catching. Meanwhile, drummer Chad Smith has recently said that the band are currently working on a follow-up to 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium' album.
