  1. ^^ LOVE THAT VIDEO!!! LOVE THAT BAND!! must. get. hands. on. debut.album.
  2. my top 5 aus albums of 2009.....so far..... 1. Wonder - Lisa Mitchell 2. Zounds - Dappled Cities 3. Sound Awake - Karnivool 4. The Sunspot Letters - Leader Cheetah 5. Conditions - Temper Trap
  3. what do we think of them builing a 3 metre high fence around the performance area to keep out people without tickets even though it was meant to be a free show in celebration for 20years since the fall of the Berlin Wall?
  4. Johnny Marr has all but confirmed that he will be down in Australia for the BDO's with his new band The Cribs.
  5. something else i didnt mention. during their 4 night stay in Philadelphia the band aimed to (and i quote Eddie) "play every song we know" what a truly incredible band. they dont need a $30million stage. they dont need the funny looking french revolution suits. they dont need 3 part symphonies. just pure beautiful rock n roll.
  6. *bump* great site to download selected PJ bootlegs for free. pearljambootlegs.com Note: these are crowd recordings not the official bootlegs. but they are the best quality available online. so its almost as good as the official one. I highly recommend you download their nights in Philadelphia. their shows from the 27/10 and 28/10 are available, the band played over 50 different songs over these two nights.
  7. get the dvd!! haha but i wish they had released a dvd on their Sams Town tour but i guess we've got T in the Park 07 and their headlining performance from Glastonbury 2007.
  8. ^^ if you love your free legal music then check out Triple J's fortnightly Free Music Podcast, there's always some awesome stuff on there.
  9. the band appeared on Triple J's Live at the Wireless for the first time since 2005, last night. it was a 45min performance recorded live at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. it will be replayed on sunday at 5pm. i listened to it last night and i thought it was pretty decent but it felt very much as though it was the Andrew Stockdale Experience rather than anything else, the other band members didnt offer anything special.
  10. They gave under a blood red sky a 9.0/10. which is a very good score. but then again thats the lowest mark they could of have given it without losing all integrity. Boy - 8.3 October - 7.1 War - 8.9 Unforgettable Fire - 9.3 The Joshua Tree - 8.9
  11. read the most bizarre thing on the wembley stadium website. we all know that every show on this 360 tour has been sold out (or so they claim) but on this site it says that on the first night at wembley U2 had 86 000 in the crowd and then the next night it was only 77 000. how does that work? where did the 9000 places go? also surprised that 86 000 is the biggest music crowd in the stadium's history. if wembley was in south america they could easily stuff in 100 000+ haha.
  12. ^^ going to pick up the new edition tomorrow. and with it i'll will subscribe cos this month u get a free Hottest 100 of all time DVD. cant wait for the december/january issue, which gives an awesome preview to the summer of live music. Triple J Unearthed Act of the Year Nominations have been announced + Philadelphia Grand Jury + The Middle East + Seth Sentry + Washington an awesome list in my opinion. i don't know who to pick. Last year the winners were John Steel Singers [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpeqfsfH2b4]YouTube - THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS - RAINBOW KRAUT[/ame]
  13. thats not what i meant by my question. i was just curious to know why blur's worldwide success was so different to oasis' every though they've been sort of cocooned into the same genre of britpop. cos i must admit my idea of blur is nothing more than WOOO HOOO, and 95% of australian music fans are the same. but alex answered my question. hate to change the topic but do most blur fans enjoy Albarn's Gorillaz project?
  14. muse really need to update their website. the second sydney big day out was announced a month ago but theres still only one sydney show on their tour diary.
  15. i've heard 3 songs of the new album so far. and i must they are 3 of the worst powderfinger songs i have ever heard. they're trying to do what pearl jam have done with Backspacer and being all upbeat and positive but its turned out sounding rather bland and uninspiring. but i'll cut em some slack, they've produced more than enough great music in their career's
  16. Happy Aus Music Month everybody! this weekend triple j is playing nothing but homegrown music and i must i love it. the non stop aussie music will run for another 6hrs or so before they return to normal programming and playlisting. but for the rest of the month, all 4 live at the wireless's will be from aussie acts, every feature album will also be australian and there will be a special tribute show for Paul Kelly.
  17. so why has Oasis enjoyed such incredible international success while Blur never really made it out of the UK? 5 consecutive no.1 albums in the UK but never cracked the top 50 in the states and only one top 10 in australia.
  18. The Dead Weather appeared live on NME Radio yesterday (Oct 29) and - Jack White revealed that the band have "15 or 20" songs ready to record for their second album. White said that the band will be getting together in December to record the follow-up to this year's debut 'Horehound', and that the band would "maybe finish the record if we can". good on them for recording so fast but the dead weather is easily jack white's least successful and most uninspiring project to date and i dont see why he keeps pushing this. white stripes and raconteurs fans are getting sick of waiting for new records.

  20. Kasabian side shows Wednesday 20 January – Enmore Theatre, Sydney Monday 25 January – Palace Theatre, Melbourne
  21. whoever the boys from coldplay like better i will vote for :P so that means i vote for Oasis.
  22. nice to see that the "real" U2 fans are out in force.
  23. ^^ someone posted a link on faster louder. a NZ paper announced it.
  24. alot of people who went to wembley to see coldplay and U2 said the coldplay show was better for one very simple reason, you could tell it means so much more to them to play in front of 80 000 of their own fans. for U2 selling out a massive football stadium is just another day at the office. yes, im sure they appreciate every moment of it, but the fact that this has become the norm for them is reflected in their performances. i guess at the same time we shouldn't forget that this band has been touring for almost 30 years. they're bound have an off night sometimes.
  25. yeah im completely with you guys. i didnt feel it so much after my first concert where i had a seat but after my first pit experience (@the killers) i found it incredibly addictive. i walked away thinking i wish i could do this every night. sadly finances and uni life always gets in the way otherwise i would be rocking out at a gig every weekend. is Uprising the best song to open with? i cant think of any alternatives right now but it doesnt seem like the best one.
