yeh i really dont think it was appropriate to put "good news" on the title of this thread. we all have different music tastes. and i dont see how this is good news for anyone. people who love wolfmother (including me, theyre my fave aussie band) are dissapointed cos they split up after only one great album. and it cant be good news for haters of the band because they still exist and the bands sound will remain even though the line up is completely different. but to be honest most of us saw this coming for a while now. spending 14 months recording a new album was an ominous sign to begin with and such huge successs so early in a bands career hardly ever turns out well in the end. the original three are still in their early 30s so anything is possible in the future

yeh i like neon tiger alot more than spaceman. can't say im a massive fan of the band but had the pleasure of seeing them live last november and it was quite an experience.

well maybe one day i will save up enough money i will go around europe and check out all the big fests then make up my mind. but looking purely at lineups i will admit that glasto has way way more variety than the other big ones around europe but being a rock fan werchter and roskilde just go down better with me.

cant wait until the webcast schedule is released. which bands do you guys think will be shown live. hope raconteurs are....seen them already at bonnaroo and coachella.

i think rock werchter, rock am ring and roskilde all produce much much better line ups than glastonbury. yes it may be the biggest in terms of crowd numbers. but if you look at the lineups from the fests i mentioned they are always solid. even though both roskilde and werchter were held on the same weekend they both had awesome lineups. Werchter had chemical brothers REM vampire weekend the verve radiohead sigur ros kings of leon gnarls barkley kaiser cheifs and the raconteurs!! roskilde i think made a deal with werchter because they produced an almost identical lineup.

^^ did Shiver actually chart first in the states? i thought it was released in 2001 in the US after the success of Yellow? did they mean what was their first UK Top 40 hit?

will they stop playing Lost it sounds like an effing hip hop song. they could at least take notice of most fans and play the acoustic version instead. but it was ok anyways. viva la vida was great as usual. the questions were sooo simple and people who lined up for more than 12hrs barely had any idea of what the boys last names were!!the first question about th first top 40 single in america i guess that one is a bit tricky cos Yellow is the obvious answer what kind of fans are these people!! i cant believe they said that they thought The Scientist won a grammy! house of cards video is simply mind blowingly!!! never seen anything quite like it. they've been revolutionising the world of music since the Bends in 1995 and dont look like slowing down anytime soon.

^^ i quite liked Stop Whispering off pablo and i didnt mind Blow Out either. but after a few listens it just dosnt have the same impact on me that all their other records have had. i guess the main reason we cant stand pablo honey is because the following albums were sooo incredible for anyother band pablo. and yeh i cant rank them either. i have 3 number ones!! has anybody got their setlist from their main sqaure fest show in france last week. for some reason at ease web had nothing for their last two shows??!?

wow chris rock has a really good taste for music. on top of all the acts he mentioned in his blog he also worked closely with the chili peppers doing their hump de bump video and introduced them at both the grammys and live earth. always thought he was a great actor/comedian now i know his a awesome rock fan too!!

http://www.mininova.org/tor/1482127 - muse at rock in rio lisbon 2008 590mb with about 50 seeders. it has the final 9 songs meaning that there is no knights no hysteria and no maps (which apparently had a bit of led zep at the end) all up its about 45mins. is anybody here familiar with the festivus compilation dvd. it includes footage from big day out 2007, isle of wight and loads of other festivals that muse played at on their last tour. ive been desperately looking for a torrent or download link but have had no luck. seems like all the people who have the dvd are not interested in sharing it on the net!!

this would have to be the first time in about a decade where the lineups of rock am/im ring werchter roskilde pinkpop rock in rio and the american fests have all been far far better than that off glasto. lets hope mr eavis gets his act together next year and put matt dominic and chris on that pyramid stage on saturday night.

i think that Politik is one of the best "firestarters" in music at the moment. but they used that to open basically every show of the rush of blood tour so i think that they should start of with LIT then lead into God put a smile. i agree that politik would be awesome as a encore starter.

hold on people. what do we mean by "album of the year" are we talking about the biggest album of the year in terms of anticipation build up hype and all that. or are we going purely on number of sales worldwide. or rather is this a debate about which album is better in terms of critical acclaim and also our personal opinions. for me VLV is no where near no1 for this year already. i think the raconteurs and death cab for cutie hav produced much better albums this year as have The Presets on the dance scene. but sticking to what people have said so far. i think coldplay will have the "bigger" album simply because U2 no longer has much of a younger audience. i rarely ever bump into any one in their teens who can name more than two U2 songs whereas coldplay dominate basically every market from tweens to middle aged people.

i had the feeling from the start that this album will be a massive mix of sounds and thats what it turned out to be. the fact that the album is very contrasting isnt necessarily a drawback i think, rather i think that this might be a bit of a template of future albums. if they are able to master this brand of music then it may work very well for them. i would agree that each of their first 3 albums had a distinct sound. para: relaxed laid back (for most part at least) rush of blood: anthemic up tempo feel most melody driven album X&Y: lame attempt at stadium rock

so how did jay-z go? and did the bbc show any of the raconteurs performance. they're about the only band i was interested in at this years fest (and vampire weekend) EDIT: yeh i found the raconteurs set on the bbc site. they were incredible as i expected. http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2008/artists/raconteurs/ the bbc recorded 35mins of their performance this band would have to hav the broadest fan base of any new band in the world. ive come across just as many ppl over 50 who love these guys as i have seen people in their teens. just proves the genius that is jack white
