'27 dead' in Connecticut primary school shooting
terrible tragedy and i feel for the parents and survivors and those children should have never been killed. unfortunately guns seem very much an integrated part of the american culture and for new laws to be effective entire generations' mindsets have to be changed. (but lets not forget, americans are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children all around the world. be it the middle east, south america or southeast asia etc etc etc. you inflict pain and suffering upon others, and misery will be inflicted upon you in one form or another. its funny people are still asking why 9/11 happened!! although I'm completely against violence and aggression and have never held a weapon in my life so don't think I'm a sadist! i just believe god takes care of things in interesting ways)

Did Coldplay gain or lose fans with Mylo Xyloto?
hah brilliant! very true. personally i can now see why the critics hate them so much and when you read some of their more thoughtful opinions on the band they make some valid points yeah but thats the whole point of forums right?! heated discussions and all. people aren't suppose to agree or like each other on here cuz then it would be like a pensioners club. all nice and sweet

Favourite Coldplay Album
haha no way! i admit its a very good song but it just really annoys me. too artificial. too nice. its the sort of song one direction would come up with if they were a bit better. i respect your opinion though. different tastes is what makes music interesting not your fault. its only when you really dig into the forum that you realize theres pretty much one thread for every subject coldplay-related. or not coldplay-related in fact!

Did Coldplay gain or lose fans with Mylo Xyloto?
haha yeah i don't think they would go that far

LP6
it is so much better live. and Major Minus reminds me of old coldplay :( and Will absolutely dominates! i want to see more of that in the album. i wanna see him go mental like on politik and GPASUYF live :D very true. i think they should kick everyone out, keep Eno for a role simillar to viva and bring Ken Nelson in!

Live 2003 vs Live 2012
whilst i love Live 2012, its still very very cheesy. much like MX in fact. so Live 2003 it is. doesn't have to be spectacular with lots of fireworks and silly slow-motion! it needs to provoke emotion

ColdplayFilm - MX Live DVD
i just finished watching this (i know! im very ashamed of myself for not watching it sooner), and it is EPIC. they're obviously performing the best shows of their careers. my favorite parts (like many others' on here i assume) were the little 5 minutes they each talked about the band with all the glorious footage

Did Coldplay gain or lose fans with Mylo Xyloto?
and theres the problem you see. currently in the music industry "mainstream" is pretty vague. i agree you could always label their singles from the very beginning "mainstream" but their albums as a whole?! definitely not. and thats the difference between parachutes or a rush with MX. back then all the teenagers who were there just for yellow or in my place or generally to just jump up and down and have a good time (nothing wrong with that) was far less than people similar to what you two describe above. i swear probably most of the people who turn up now for their live shows don't even know their pre-VLV stuff in its entirety. sure they've heard their singles but the rest... i dont think they lost a great number of fans with MX. certainly not as many as they did with X&Y and VLV. they gained a HUGE following though. i mean gigantically huge! but i personally wouldn't call them fans. and if they carry on in the same direction as MX, which is pretty meretricious and lacks the musical depth some people look for, then trust me they'll be even bigger. but if you've been a fan since the beginning and you're STILL following them after MX, you're faithful enough to stay a fan even after a collaboration with nicki minaj and her enormous bottom

Favourite Coldplay Album
IMO theres only one reason VLV isn't as good as AROBTTH. and its a song. and its called lovers in japan. and its shit.

Favourite Coldplay Album

Mylo Xyloto for Grammy 2013?
how to dismantle was far from U2's best record but still, as an album it was brilliant. certainly deserved all the grammy

Coldplay nominated for 2 Grammy Awards (Best Rock Performance/Best Rock Album)
i'm proud of them for being nominated. but again like last year, i would prefer if they didn't win. just not good enough

Your Top 5 Viva Era Tracks
well the entire era is filled with truly great songs. pretty difficult to choose only five. in no particular order: 42 Death and All His Friends Rainy Day Lost? Cemeteries of London this era really showed what Coldplay are capable of achieving artistically. wish i could go back!

So why not the acoustic
summed it up perfectly! i agree with you 110%
- LP6
-
So why not the acoustic
yeah very plausible. for a lot of people neither version is vastly superior to the other and maybe thats also how the band felt but they were less excited about the acoustic
-
So why not the acoustic
you're right about wanting fewer acoustics on the album. that could be one of the reasons. but as for playing it live, theres barely any live instruments on PoC album version. even will's drums are electronic. then again im not so easily impressed by "energetic, bombastic, dynamic shows"! you're right maybe the acoustic isn't that good either. didn't answer my question though
-
LP6
god I hope thats true! you have no idea what I'm prepared to do for a bit of the old coldplay!
-
So why not the acoustic
so Rihanna isn't the most likable character out of all the other mainstream female artists (shes not as bad as nicki minaj or lady gross, but obviously still not up there with Florence Welch and Adele in terms of class and voice), but anyway i don't mind her voice. But still the band's collaboration with her was totally wrong yet it happened anyway so my question is this: the acoustic is a much better song overall in every aspect so why not have that on the album instead of the trash that ended up on MX?!! better chart performance? more appealing to the youth? flows better in the album? what do you think?

Gah! They ALMOST Did It!
yes incredibly good song. and the length is just right because its a beautiful song and leaves you wanting more and thats the trick you see ;)

I MET CHRIS MARTIN IN LONDON!
you're one lucky guy. meeting Chris is definitely not a case of never meet your heroes! he is a true gentleman as for this, i really hope he was joking:worried:
-
LP6
i know very cringeworthy! im certain they're not doing a stripped down acoustic album at this point in their careers. i said it before the pop mainstream scene is very attractive at the moment and they're reveling in playing huge stadiums with girls screaming jumping up and down and all that crap! LP6 will be simillar to MX but maybe a couple more rock songs thrown in there to please the older fans.

Mylo Xyloto for Grammy 2013?
you're theory is conspiratorial but could be right! i have actually given that album a couple of listens and its pretty good. but its not better than viva and it has nothing to do with fandom as you may have noticed im one of the more critical fans on here you're right i totally forgot about in rainbows :P it should. only if they had released it as their first single with a proper animated video and the entire song (WITH jonny's part), it would have been so much better and got the praise it deserved.
