i think the unreleased Viva demos were exceptionally good. chris and his magnificent voice on the piano and the melodies were EPIC. especially on BR, GAG and TFoM. i would happily have anything like that with a few hard rock tracks thrown in!

pretty good. although as you said there are too many great songs to cram into one setlist indeed learning from the masters. what the hell is danger mouse doing working with U2?! never expected it

yeah aging could be part of it you're right about the surgery and the fact that it changed between AROBTTH and X&Y. but i cant remember when he had it. i always assumed it was a very long time ago and early on in their career. but i dont think its entirely because of aging or the surgery. he was definitely aware of it so maybe it was deliberate

i think one of their errors with MX was all the singles were the more mainstream pop sounding tracks on the album whereas they could have chosen Major Minus or DLIBYH or UWTB even as singles with better music videos to accompany them. so i would like to see that change in LP6. and also more performance based videos. also chris's voice somehow started to sound different after VLV. i think there was sort of a rawness in his voice before that. and i really liked it and so i prefer his pre-VLV voice. maybe its just me!

i just felt like coming on here to say Will is fucking awesome and i love him and on the next record i want his skills to take center stage. i want lots of crazed drum bashing with jonny going mental on the guitar

i agree they needed the evolution. and how far they evolve or change their sound is not of great significance. however the direction and quality of the music is. i think they went in the wrong direction with MX. sure its a great pop album and maybe the best theres been. but i would like to forget it was made by coldplay. if take that or new kids on the block had released it then sure and maybe i would have actually enjoyed it a lot more.

i was hoping for a drastic change from the last two records. wouldn't mind strings used in a similar style to Politik or even Rainy Day (i know its not a song everyone likes but its so different yet beautiful) but definitely nothing like they did on MX or viva. great news nevertheless. brilliant idea. exactly my thoughts! and my god that album is magnificent. i can listen to it days on end

they all look great except guy looks absolutely stoned out of his head. glad they're all in the same place i listened to parachutes and arobtth back to back today and my god! breathtaking albums. really miss the old coldplay

no it isn't. if someone *likes* nicki minaj over florence and the machine it doesn't equate to nicki minaj being better than florence and the machine. if someone likes MX more than their previous work, especially their earlier work, or think its better then fair enough. but in no way will you legitimately make an argument that musically viva and MX are the peak of what they could or have achieved. so no they're not in their prime in that sense

i don't think they're in the prime of their career at all. plus "churning" them out is a terrible idea. they're not nestlé! my thoughts exactly. i don't wanna know anything until i get my hands on the album.

nope 150 is way too long. lifes pretty miserable as it is so i cant imagine living for that long. 80 would be alright
