I want to add that I believe a big motivation behind the style of music they choose to release now is the live shows though...I think they enjoy seeing people jump up and down and spread a happy vibe hehe

Nothing I´ve seen or heard from their interviews and albums that have made me believe otherwise. Anyone who brands Coldplay as sellouts have in my opinion completely misunderstood the band. However I can see why people would think they are sellouts as they have delved more and more into popular music, which they clearly like and wanted to explore for a while but were hesitant to do so. Maybe it´s easier to believe that they are sellouts than they actually also enjoy the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna and that style of music ? hehe :) But I absolutely believe its the latter case yes. They are versatile and not everyone understands or embraces that.

Ah a merchandise thread?? yay :) I dont have the sweatshirt but it looks cool. Would like to hear how it is, if you end up getting it. So far I am considering the stickers + CD and the --reposting from the other thread :) I just saw the balloon t-shirt on the official store...I gotta have it and I dont dare looking at all the rest of the merchandise yet. haha My poor Mastercard :)

Nice original suggestions :) It never occurred to me to change the order of songs on an album. Maybe I am old-fashioned vinyl-type haha But I dont know...it would feel like a sin to me to tamper with how the artist laid out the work, kinda like wanting to move colours around on a canvas hehe

Rant rant...hmm...I dont like when people try to turn their opinion into the absolute truth and in the process belittle what other people feel and think as just "wrong" . Yes , this is almost an impossible feat for an artist! To bridge all age demographics and she totally does. No wonder she sells like crazy.

There is much to be said about the state of music nowadays, a lot of it undoubtedly influenced by the ever-growing power of multinationals who like own all the labels now (and a lot of movie studios as well). If you release art mainly as profit, its bound to affect the output you get and to the negative. :/ That said, I think it was unfair to throw Coldplay in the bunch. They never write music to please anyone but themselves. And yes Adele, Sam all make agreeable music, but maybe that is what people want to hear. Sometimes you find solace in some agreeable calm non-controversial music when the world is in tumult as it is now probably more than ever since 2nd world war :/

I truly admire reviewers in a way...it would be extremely hard for me to sit and write an essay with a grade on an album without really being 100% inside a band/artist, knowing the full picture. (and clearly as a reviewer you cant be a know-it-all fan of all the artists you write about, hardly!) I remember reading countless of Lana del rey reviews that were completely off the mark in the sense that clearly the reviewer did not get the artist and the meaning/motivation behind some of the songs at all...

She ´s breaking all sorts of records with 25. I am not sure we can consider 25 other than an anomaly, like a major musical tsunami hehe

There are only 11 reviews that I se eon meteoritic. The average in the other albums is 30ish reviews, so lets see what it looks like when the others roll it. I think it´ll land on about the same grade as MX and GS

When did they actually start the tradition of the hidden track? I believe it was on Viva? I think it probably came from the idea of not following the same formula and just make untraditional tracks or mix of tracks: 42 comes to mind, really two songs blended into one! I dont mind the secret tracks, but I hoped some were fully fledged songs in their own right or had made it as b-sides stand-alone instead.

The last line made me laugh haha I rarely do this, but on this I feel confident enough to look in the crystal ball and say Chris will never ever go solo! The band knows and appreciates their chemistry is what makes them who they are. Remove one element and you destroy the whole thing. You know it´s interesting to wonder how much the other members are into the pop/R&B thing? I mean we know Chris is. I suspect Jonny is quite open to it as well. I remember reading the most "skeptical" members about Stargate collaboration were Guy and Will, but now you hear them talking so warmly about how they enjoyed it so much. So I think at the end of the day they are all on the same page. I dont believe they could release anything where every single member cant stand behind it.
