I'm pretty sure most fans have followed and liked Coldplay sound evolution: the success of Viva is a testament to this. I personally love A Rush, but I really can not see how it can or should be compared to later works. Each cd is a different journey and a different sound. As for critics, they love to praise the good old days of many an artist. I have heard it so often and frankly I've rarely agreed so I can't really sympathize with their sentiments.

I think this is a case of knowing what to look for and where to look. As Coldplay have been accused of plagirism before, their songs are scrutinized like no other. I am pretty sure that so-called "striking similiraties" could be found in a lot of popular pop songs as the hooks are usually basic chords and simple melodies. There is no doubt in my mind Coldplay did not copy this song. They have credited where credit was due all the way back from X&Y era. This will probably make some lawyers happy and someone richer, but it has nothing to do with music

Anyone else feel somewhat cheated about getting low-quality mp3 downloads on release date? I am starting to feel like that I might as well just hold on to the leaked version :( I wonder if they will give us a digital booklet as well. I'm tempted to just grab a cd on release date but I should not be "forced" to spend more money after buying the pop edition! Why can't they just send us the cd or a high quality download? Grrrr:veryangry2:

Baffled at the hate towards Poc and MM. I think they are both brilliant and the fact that they are so diverse, it just shows Coldplay can truly come up with great songs outside genres. Will get back about worst song once I've heard the album again.

Wow how can Hopeful Transmissions be better than POC? I personally think the short instrumentals are the worst: just plain useless

I heard the leak only once and I was struck by the diversity of the tracks. I won't listen again until it's released, but I could tell that knowing most of the songs did spoil my first listen of the album I must admit. So I'll give this a few days and listen to it again on CD. Hopefully you will keep a place for me in this club, cuz I definitely wanna join and hopefully I will. :)

I think it is quite relevant. The elephant is lost, like the girl in the song, and far from home. She wants to go back to where she belongs with her family. I think it fits quite well in an unexpected way!
