  1. Nattatouille: Do you like any songs from MX so far? Or are you disappointed only by ETIAW or Paradise?
  2. I think it´s a fine ending and a fine beginning and an epic middle :)
  3. I like the friends analogy but when it comes to music, there is no clear right or wrong. It´s way too subjective. In retrospect there could be more agreement on what worked and what didn´t, and even then people still have different responses (see X&Y). So no I don´t think Coldplay needs anyone to tell them they are doing wrong: they should be allowed to express their music as they see fit. It´s fine for people to dislike the new material but I don´t think it´s fine for them to try to turn their disliking into a definition of what´s good or bad music
  4. I really never thought about it in so much detail :) I just relate to the sentence: life can and does get heavy. And the wheel breaks a butterfly is a very painful image in my opinion, makes this song very dark
  5. I have very fond memories associated with X&Y (my first Coldplay concert for instance), so it will always be a special album for me. I don´t listen much to it right now, but that´s mostly because I always tend to listen most to the newest material on rotation :)
  6. But Will plays the drums live during ETIAW....you mean there is a pre-recorded beat coupled with live drums? That would be good enough for me ;)
  7. Sue: I really hope this changes because the hardcore fans are usually the ones in front row, so it would be kinda sad to see no hands in the air when Paradise or Every Tear are being played in the proper MX tour hehe I might make a run for front row this time too, but I kinda like the idea of hanging a few rows behind..we´ll see :) Are you and the people you met disappointed about all MX material or just Every Tear and/or Paradise? I think this album will offer a bit for everyone.
  8. It won´t be programmed live though :P I think Will will do a great job with this track live.
  9. I know, surely more important things. I don´t know what it is with me and stickers :)
  10. I take your word for it, but in Paradise I clearly hear the drums, high hat and everything. Whether they are electronic or not, they sound organic enough to me. I think this will rock live to be honest.
  11. We nearly heard half of it and I am liking all I hear and see so far. With this in mind, I highly doubt the remaining half will disappoint me, but of course one never knows, but I have had and still have a great feeling about this :)
  12. I really must say this. Guy´s bass has not been praised enough! It´s bombastic!!!!
  13. Sell the stencils and stickers? Blasphemy! hehe :) Anyone knows what this means? Delivery Date w/c 12 September. Does w/c stand for courier? Does it mean the package will not be delivered by 12 September with standard delivery? :(
  14. I personally feel MX has such emotional themes throughout, even more than past songs and I have a feeling Up With The Birds will fit nicely in the list of songs you posted :)
  15. When she was a girl, she expected the world, but the later darker sentiments belong to the woman who has now realized life has gotten heavy and crashing.
  16. Let´s all forgive each other´s frustrations and just find common ground. I am sure MX will have offerings for both sides of the fence :)
  17. I think this is about a woman, not a girl, because he sings "When she WAS just a girl..." so we assume a fair amount of time has passed since.
  18. *LOL* Now I play drums, but I have never played electronic drums, so I don´t know how that feels like. That said, I am sure Will, like the rest of the band, likes to experiment :)
  19. Very interesting thread. I am hoping a lot of people who firmly dislike Every Tear or Paradise can share their opinion about what they want the new songs to sound like...I am curious :) As for me, I want to be surprised. Always :) No expectations, just an open mind. I can take the luxury to do this as Coldplay have never let me down so far.
  20. It´s currently number one in 16 iTunes stores, so I am sure it will do well :)
  21. It goes both ways, as always. MX lovers feel that any amount of exuberance for the new songs is perceived as a sin by people who don´t like the new material...so let´s leave sin out of this, on both sides hehe :) IT´s ok to like, it´s ok to dislike. Sometimes we can have it both ways :)
  22. Can´t we all celebrate that in MX they are gonna give something to everyone? Big sumptuous songs, together with acoustic intimate ones. It might turn out to be everyone´s favorite album, simply because it packs in it everything Coldplay has been and is now
  23. I think it went and goes both ways :) Yesterday negative threads cropped up aplenty, today positive threads are popping up. I guess we are reaching a sort of balance :)
  24. Yes agree with original post. It is an incredibly haunting song, which somehow manages to pack the deepest despair together with shimmering hope in a few sentences. I don´t think though that the Para-Para Paradise is meant to make the word sound cynical, but simply fit the song. The sentence in the end (The sun will set to rise) shows that it´s not a cynical song, but one of hope within deep despair. That´s how I see it anyway, but like any great song, you can fit many an interpretation.
  25. I don´t think you have to be a teen to feel for the protagonist of this song and the sentence "life gets so heavy" is simple but incredibly true. Chris has always had a simple but effective way to articulate feelings people can relate to.
