The official lyrics from Coldplay.com: The birds they sang, break of day 'Start again' I hear them say It's so hard to just walk away The birds they sang, all a choir 'Start again', a little higher It's a spark in a sea of grey The sky is blue, dream that lie 'til it's true Then taking back the punch I threw My arms turn wings oh those clumsy things Send me up to that wonderful world And then I'm up with the birds Might have to go where they don't know my name Float all over the world just to see her again But I won't show or feel any pain Even though all my armour might rust in the rain A simple plot, but I know one day Good things are coming our way A simple plot, but I know one day Good things are coming our way Oh yeah!
  2. I really liked the video. Thought it was very fitting for the song, very energetic. Solid 7/10 I'd say. People are acting like music videos need to have significant depth and things like that. Well I guess they can but, hell, it's just a freaking music video guys. Really? The concept alone is admittedly a little cheesy.
  3. I really hope they don't expect anyone to believe that Coldplay stole a song from some no-name band on youtube. How would they even have been able to steal it if the video was posted months after Coldplay had originally played Princess of China? There's really no way. These guys stole a song and are now trying to play the victim hoping to get some press and attention to their band. It's really disgusting. I hope nobody supports these jerks.
  4. Holy crap this just hit the nail on the head for me!
  5. If he does record these and sells them then yes it would be illegal if Coldplay wasn't informed or credited in some way, shape, or form. Although I doubt the band is very worried about it considering their success and general live and let live attitude toward these sorts of things.
  6. I doubt they named it that to piss off Satriani considering that the lyric "Up in flames" is such an integral part of the song. I'd be more likely to believe they did it to piss him off if the song never actually said those words in the lyrics. Also, concerning the Russian singer, singing your own lyrics to another band's music is perfectly legal if it's a live performance. How do you think every band who has ever done a live cover has come out without being sued? Now if he was recording and selling the songs for royalties then yes that is illegal.
  7. This is absolutely not true. Chris and the Oracle have both confirmed many times that Chris splits the money evenly with the rest of the band despite the fact that he writes the majority of the songs.
  8. Yeah it really does. It's one of my favorites!
  9. You're welcome :). Just glad to be of service!
  10. It would seem that many people (more than I would have ever expected) on these boards do not understand this line and think it to be poor lyrics because they do not get the reference. I thought I would make a thread and try to clear this up for people since I see the confusion a lot and no one ever seems to explain it for the people who are confused beyond simply saying "it's a Peter Pan reference" which I'm sure is frustrating for people. Basically Captain Hook, the villain of Peter Pan, had his hand eaten off by a crocodile who, during the struggle, also swallowed a clock. So whenever the crocodile is around, his stomach makes an audible ticking sound, which terrifies Hook. As a result, whenever he hears clocks ticking, Hook is paranoid and terrified because he thinks that the crocodile is back to eat the rest of him! It is a metaphor for paranoia that someone is out to get you. I hope this clears things up for those of you who simply thought the line was nonsense.
  11. Why does no one know the Peter Pan reference?! Maybe I should make a thread about it.
  12. But the line doesn't sound like it has a comma in it, so why should there be one in the lyrics? If anything, a comma would only disrupt the flow and be more confusing.
  13. I respectfully disagree. I think it is a quite effective image.

What is it with everyone on this site and not understanding lyrics unless they're straight-forward and logical? Lol, it's all good though, I understand how the line can be confusing if you try to understand it as a logical sentence, which it isn't and isn't meant to be. Lyrics, like poetry, don't always have to work rationally and logically as a sentence. This line is playing with suggestion like imagist poetry does. It combines the images of "drunken hazard" and "daniel in a lion's den" to basically depict someone in a really bad place. A drunken hazard, someone who is a drunk and a danger to himself is being combined with the image of daniel in the lion's den, which is scary for obvious reasons. Basically Daniel was thrown in the lion's den for having faith in God and praying, which was against the law because the king thought that no one should worship anyone but him. Daniel was thrown into the lion's den for his "crimes" against the king but because of his faith in God, God protected him from the lions and he came out unscathed the following day. Now imagine being there drunk... Yeah... that's where the speaker of these lyrics is at. But I think the Daniel reference also adds a bit of hope for getting out if you have faith though.
  15. Nonsense lyrics? The lyrics are 100% correct on the site, what are you talking about? Is it the line "my drunken hazard Daniel in a lion's den" that is bothering you? What is it with everyone on this site and not understanding lyrics unless they're straight-forward and logical? Lyrics, like poetry, don't always HAVE to work rationally and logically as a sentence. This line is playing with suggestion like imagist poetry does. It combines the images of "drunken hazard" and "daniel in a lion's den" to basically depict someone in a really bad place. A drunken hazard, someone who is a drunk and a danger to himself is being combined with the image of daniel in the lion's den, which is scary for obvious reasons. Basically, as the story goes in the Bible, Daniel was thrown in the lion's den for having faith in God and praying, which was against the law because the king thought that no one should worship anyone but him. Daniel was thrown into the lion's den because of his "crime" against the king but because of his faith in God, God protected him from the lions and he came out unscathed the following day. Now imagine being there drunk... Yeah... that's where the speaker of these lyrics is at. As for "poh" and "Waterfal", eh, I can live with it. I compared all of the lyrics on the site with Chris' own handwritten ones. The ones that were emailed out in the digital package from the site on the wristbands. They are spot on. These are indeed the official lyrics.
  16. The thing is, they're not vaulable to me because of the money they are worth. They're valuable for sentimental reasons. I don't care if they get little scratches on them, that's what makes them mine and special to me. I'm not thinking about how much money I can make off of them years down the line.
  17. Lyrics, like poetry, don't have to have any literal meaning. They don't necessarily have to make sense logically. People don't actually glow in the dark. It's about being bright in the midst of darkness; choosing to live fully and happily despite all the bad around you. It's a beautiful line honestly. Simple yet elegant.
  18. I am not sure if all of you have noticed so I figured I would post it here for everyone. It looks like the lyrics in the recordings section for Mylo Xyloto have been corrected on Coldplay's official website. Before there were several spots where the lyrics were quite clearly incorrect but it looks like someone went through and fixed all of the mistakes. Good thing too, it was honestly a bit embarassing! Enjoy the official lyrics!

  21. I don't buy this logic. That "EP" had 2 tracks on it that actually ended up on the album. That's not really much of an extended play if you ask me... More of a double a-side with a b-side than an EP. I just hope we see another single before the end of the year with another B-Side. I'm not in any hurry for an EP. We probably won't see anything like that for a while.
  22. It really is embarrassing. I'd hate to be the site's editor right now...
