  1. Consider yourself Twitter-followed. :P I personally never tweet during gigs, though, so I wouldn't expect you to either.
  2. Is Travis ever going to do anything soon? Or is this Fran Healy solo venture going to drag on?
  3. I legitimately liked Christmas Lights. Nothing amazing but felt more stripped down and focused than a lot of the overblown tracks on Viva. Unfortunately, they ran in the opposite direction after that.
  4. "Holocene", on the other hand, is amazing and one of my favorite songs by anyone this year.
  5. I can't stand the last song on the s/t Bon Iver album. I absolutely love the whole album up to that point, but for whatever reason, "Beth/Rest" kills it right at the end for me. I do, however, thank you for posting the Jolly Roger Bay theme from Mario 64. :D
  6. Exactly, and that's one thing I love about festivals (downside is that you're sometimes sitting through acts during the day that you might not be interested in, while you're in the way of those bands' actual fans). Really, though, Coldplay should have no problem doing full-floor GA if other bands can do it in the exact same venues. (for instance, I've seen numerous shows at Honda Center and Coldplay is still the only one to have floor seats) Of course, amphitheaters are different since those have such small pits to begin with, so those are perfectly understandable. But in arenas or stadiums, I can't think of much excuse.
  7. .wav format is awesome for professional work involving video or audio since it's lossless, but it's an impractical format in your standard music library since A) files are freaking gigantic, B) a lot of programs don't support .wav files at all. .m4v is awesome...if you're only using iTunes. Converting it isn't difficult but you're bound to Apple if you use it, which isn't a problem for most people since iTunes is so widely used now.
  8. Rolling Stone tends to be most favorable to the bands that have been around for decades (they gave 5 stars to the latest U2 album which I thought was really mediocre) but they're hardly known for their reviews, especially since they're usually one paragraph max. Honestly, though, RS seems to have lost its relevance as a music source in general. The whole magazine is bitching about politics while there's little musical tidbits sprinkled here and there. EDIT: Didn't read carefully enough, someone already mentioned the U2 thing.
  9. I like the first two Oasis albums (screw everything after that) but Wonderwall is annoying as hell.
  10. So for any KROQ listeners who feel extremely lucky... http://kroq.radio.com/2011/10/13/stryker-to-host-coldplay-radio-special-live-from-london-enter-to-win-a-trip-to-see-the-band-in-glasgow/
  11. North American release date confirmed as January 10th, a full TWO MONTHS after its European release. Absolute poppycock. Thank God for the Internet/importing/etc.
  12. Bahahaha, congrats Dianne! :D Now wish that same luck upon the rest of us! :P
  13. I haven't tried calling in for this contest, but if it's anything like the previous KROQ call-ins I've tried (pretty much all of them require you to be Caller 20), immediately re-dial if you get a busy signal. I've gotten like Caller 14 on my 3rd call, for example. If you don't get through in like 8 attempts, I'd say they've picked a winner by that point.
  14. Seats on the floor are total crap and I had to put up with them at both shows I went to on the Viva tour, and these were the same venues I've seen other bands have total floor GA for. Just Coldplay's system and it was stupid. Judging by your sig, you were at the Home Depot Center show too, and that's not an arena, that's a stadium. Having thousands upon thousands of seats on a stadium floor was absolutely ridiculous and killed everyone's mood down there. It was horrible. There was a small GA section toward the front but those tickets were elusive. (Honda Center, on the other hand, I think was ALL seats.) I will tell you right now that my spot for the Home Depot show (which was still in the front half of the floor) was NOT worth the face price I paid. So to answer your question, it all depends on band/venue. I really hope Coldplay smartens up and ditches floor seats at North American arenas/stadiums this tour. And for GA, you really do have to queue all day to ensure a great spot. (When I followed Muse around, for instance, I would always arrive at 6am and still be like 15th in line.)
  15. The only good thing that could possibly come out of a canceled season is that it would eat up another year in LeBron James' career where he doesn't win a ring.
  16. A friend wanted me to see Starfucker with her in August but I ended up being way too tired that day. Oh well. :/
  17. My Brightest Diamond also just leaked, so check your personal leak sources for that one. (I'm serious, find a reliable leak source for yourself so that you can use it and don't have to start panicking and screaming "SEND ME A PM WITH THE LINK!!!" once MX finally does leak)
  18. I think we should take this opportunity to recommend NON-Coldplay music to one another. Any opinions on the new albums by Wilco, St. Vincent, and M83? I guarantee MX won't be as good as any of them. ;)
  19. SITS is a song that I really shouldn't like but I do anyway. It's cheesy as hell but it stands out as more fun than the rest of that really bland stretch of the album (Low, The Hardest Part, and Twisted Logic all do no favors for me). And it's way better than most songs post-X&Y.
  20. I just checked the Wikipedia page and it says that EMI pushed back the release date to early November. :bigcry: WHY WOULD EMI DO THAT TO US, THE GREATEST FANS OF THE GREATEST BAND IN HISTORY? :bigcry:
  21. Holy crap, I had never heard a single thing from Sharon Van Etten before seeing her open for The National last month. Was stunned. Joanna is a love/hate relationship with me. Good when I need a long relaxing album to help with an essay break or something, but hard to listen to otherwise. New Feist album is good. Not as good as The Reminder, but still high quality.
  22. R.E.M. hadn't been anywhere near as relevant as U2 in recent years. They still toured and released new material, but none of it had gotten big attention since the early 90's. U2 has still had big hits this millennium.
