It feels so strange to me. On the one side I really like the song after some listenings and can't resist to push the replay button but on the other side I feel that they had better not going into this direction... strange, isn't it? Btw I just love the chorus, its so relaxing. I love everything without the verse. Its a bit boring and poppy in my honest opinion. The bridges and the intro+ outro sound perfect!

Its interesting that most of the new songs are grower. There are lots of people who complain about it at the beginning but later they have to say that the songs grew in them. That shows how different the tune of Coldplay is now. It was the same for me with Paradise. Firstly I hated the song, now I just can't resist to push the play button again and again.

Don't like it too but it will be hopefully a great song, maybe another quiter one to convince some very sceptical people here?

I'm also not happy about it. I just don't like to hear anybody else than Coldplay on their records. Of course, its Rihanna, a artist who I don't like. I loved PoC and for me it was another single but now I'm sceptical. Nevertheless I will give it a chance and that is what we all should do. Wait and see. There is enough time after the release to complain about.

Its okay and we have to accept your opinion. Its your taste, so no problem to post it here. Princess of China for me is another song which will polarize the community. I predict lots of "oh my god this is so overproduced and not Coldplay" comments and on the other side lots of "oh god this is soo good!" comments. When you don't like the song, its ok but hopefully the studio version will be mind-blowing for you and you change your opinion about this song (which I really love). ;) PS: Personally I think this song is another one which is so different but a bit more melody based than Paradise. For sure I see some similarities in these songs but I definitely am more excited to hear PoC. Its a song which shows the in my honest opinion great developement of Coldplay. But thats just my taste.

I'm so excited about the studio version of PoC. It definitely features this synth action of Paradise. I'm curios to see the reactions of the people here who constantly say the studio versions are too overproduced. I predict tons of details, especially the instrumental part will be full of them. Rihanna? Don't like her, but I will wait and see how it works.

I'm depressed because they play it at first live. After the studio version there will be another huge disappointment because there is Will in the background singing or there is a lovely string solo added and this leads into great depression of some users here. Hopefully the song is convincing. I won't listen to it.

Hm I don't see the similarity to One Republic or any other band in Paradise. With regard to all the musicians in the world its hard to create something real new - one octave just have 8 tones and nobody ownes them. There are always similarities. You say today its One Republic, some other saw the similarities to Blink 182, Muse, The Verve, U2 in older records... ...sorry, but honestly its no argument for me.

What do you say? I can't hear this "mainstream, mainstream, oh my god its mainstream". I don't know what you mean. Come on, lets talk about Fix you, Yellow, In my Place, The Scientist. And you really say that Coldplay going to be mainstream with Paradise? Coldolay was always mainstream, they wrote simple melodies but it was highly emotional. Nowadays the style is complexer, richer, there is more variety, there isn't only Chris' voice and some little riffs and piano tunes beside. They really improve their musical side. When I compare Paradise with Yellow and all the good old stuff (I desperately love) I have to say, that Yellow is the mainstream hit and radio friendly song, not Paradise. Don't get me wrong, I respect the people who say that they don't like the new stuff. Its ok, because its so different to anything before, no problem. But I can't understand if people say they go mainstream. Look at VLVODAAHF or at Paradise - I just don't see the "mainstream".

MX isn't out and you debate about possible producers after it? The community doesn't work any more. Sorry, but this is soooooo... I don't want to say it.

I really like the beginning with "When she was just a girl, she expected the world, but it flew away from her reach, so she ran away in her sleep and dream of paradise". This, what I like. You're right that the parts with the butterfly and the tear and the heavy life isn't that cool but nevertheless I think we have to see it as a whole story. If you ask me, the lyrics of Paradise are meeeh, the rest (except ETIAW) is very, very good. Honestly, most of the VIva lyrics aren't that impressing for me, altought I love this album so much.

I hope that there isn't any single before MX drops. At least nothing else than Charlie Brown. Hopefully the people here see how MX is when you hear it complete. Hopefully the strange situation in the community can calm down with it.

Again: Its not because some people say they don't like the song. Its the way how they express it. Nobody must like it but everyone here should respect the bands new direction. no matter what you think about. You don't have to agree or like or listen the new album to respect and accept it. But you should stop bashing the band for development.

I never wanted to say that you said that you want Amsterdam 2.0. :) I don't want to complain about the lyrics. They are part of a story so I can judge them after hearing the complete album. Just for record, I'm actually satisfied with the new lyrics of HLH, CB, Uatw, MM - but as I said before: its hard to consider them without seeing the whole puzzle.

No thats wrong. Nobody must like the new stuff - I know that its very different to "good old" Parachutes or AROBTTH. But you should respect and accept the band, no matter what you think of the new stuff. There is no need to create such senseless topics like "Backstreet Boys...". You can cleary say that you don't like Paradise but it should be in a more serious way than SOME of the haters are doing it.

Interesting. I have a good friend who don't like whole Viva-era and also didn't like the new songs of MX, especially not ETIAW. But now he told me that he loves Paradise as a high-quality single which isn't as poppy as ETIAW. Nice to hear that. After the first huge disappointment I really really enjoy listening to the song.

Yeah, the community is divided, but the way of the astonishment is so huge! There are so many thread about the same topic - old vs. new Coldplay. Was it the same way while Viva-era? I'm sad because especially we should have known that the record is going to be so different after all and now we are so surprised? Sorry, but thats so boring for me. I won't visit the forum any longer, or just the threads which I like. Don't want to read some ridicolous stuff of some haters here. After the album release I will hear it again and again and maybe, after 1-2 weeks I will write a review of the album.

Don't know what you mean by that. I don't want to compare Coldplay songs but I can definitely say that I'm lucky of ETIAW and Paradise. I'm lucky that they were created by Coldplay and that they are instead of some cheap copies of Politik and Amsterdam and all the other AROBTTH/Parachutes-stuff. So, personally, I don't see the point of the thread and that is all I wanted to say.

I can't describe how depressed I am by the amount of negativity and some of the haters who behave like idiots and children. Especially we should have known after three years we follow the creation process of the new record that Coldplay will arrieve in new places in the sound landscape. Its hard to understand all the astonishment about Coldplays new direction. I'm sad, not because they don't like it all, but I'm sad to read some postings of some Users here which are ridicolous and the way how they critisize the band is childish. Thats what hurts. I decided after a long day yesterday that I will never read in this forum any more, especially not before single or album release. I'm sure that after hearing the whole album the forum will be even more parted and I'm sure that there are lots of people who will complain about the style as well as today. On the other side I trust Chris, who said lately that there will be some fans who will be disappointed, but not, because they are really disappointed, but rather because they don't want to accept a new direction and after a year there is no other way as to like the album.

The piano cover is good but really: If the whole song sounds like this it would be boring in my honest opinion. Nevertheless great job!

I don't really care for Moving to Mars. Its a good song but the beginning is really boring in my honest opinion. The building is great and the melody part with "And I heard it..." too. But its not the song which creates such a feeling inside my body that I have to hear it all the time.

Thats surely true. But thats what I predicted as they said "the triumpf over fear" and revelead their inspiration ("to express yourself"). It was clear that MX will be very different from Viva - in comparism Viva was different, but very shy. MX is really polarising. But I knew that. Nevertheless I'm shocked of the way how some people express their dislike. This is not, what Coldplay deserves - no matter how they like the new style. In my honest opinion its due to the huge secrets of MX and some people here in the forum who supported the negativity. For me, Paradise is the least favorite. Don't like it as the other new songs but its a good song for me. The chorus gives me chills every time, the verse is a bit too poppy in my eyes. I love their new style and am fascinated by their brave to envolve. I really look forward to the album as a whole. I'm sure, if we had heard so many Viva songs before the release there would have been more negativity too.

I don't want to be one of those fans who overreact in this times. Of course I was really surprised about the announce and am a bit sceptical. But I will see how it works. I loved PoC, maybe Rihanna gives the song a new and even more epic touch...
