HLH masks it's chord progression though through amazing guitar, bass and drums, and it's not just two chords throughout. Here the same four chords are repeated from beginning to end, and they're evident as hell.

Don't go there. She's his wife, the woman he loves and mother of his children. It's reported frequently that she has no say on the music they make and doesn't go to the studio and tell them what to do, so this isn't an adequate or justified comparison.

Seconded. I don't get why there's people criticising the haters because it doesn't sound like their old stuff, and that they don't like the band progressing and trying different things. People hate it because it's four chords, poor lyrics, excess synths, and is trying to be something they know they're not. This isn't progress, and I can assure you the people hating this absolutely love Charlie Brown, HLH, UATW and POC, so it's useless jumping on the "you hate progress" bandwagon, because by comparison this is a POOR song.

No. The song plays the same four chords for 4 and a half minutes. Chris wails on and off-key over those four chords singing some frankly quite amateurish lyrics. It tries waaaaaay too hard to be a pop song, and just sounds crap, doesn't really go anywhere, and doesn't really end anywhere...

The "para-para-paradise" parts make me wince because they sound so off-key! Ugh I've listened to it twice and I don't think I will again..

I agree about the single + single EP - That's something that's not really on. However you have to understand that the loyal fans are a very small percentage of Coldplay's listeners.. the guys sell millions of albums to people that buy the album after hearing their singles on the radio rather than the single EP's.

The reason is that only about 10% of people that buy Coldplay's albums are on these forums, and are passionate enough to buy the EP. Other casual listeners have been hearing ETIAW all summer and would rather get an album that includes it than a single EP. Also via the same logic, Coldplay must have really wanted these people to hear Major Minus.
