[2016-04-05] Estadio Nacional, Lima, Peru
Wow I hope they keep this level of changing and dynamicism up for the whole tour. Not only are they doing the request song but clearly they're rotating interesting songs in and out like Speed of Sound in this case. It reminds me a lot of the VLV tour, and is much less wooden/fixed than the MX tour.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I somewhat agree, but I think AHFOD could have really used one more fast song in the middle or end. Everything from Everglow to the end are relatively slow songs. Sure, AOAL, Army of One, and Up&Up are upbeat...but none are very fast. I think VLV and MX did a much better job on that front because VLV has Cemeteries of London to open, Lovers in Japan, and Viva la Vida as spaced out energetic songs. MX has HLH/Charlie Brown near the front, ETIAW in the middle, and DLIBYH in the back. AHFOD by comparison drags a little. Still love the album though but have realized I have this issue with it.

[2016-04-03] Estadio Nacional, Santiago, Chile
Is it me or are they switching up the setlists quite a bit? Isn't that a good thing? (I just feel like the complaint level is a bit high after just 3 shows...) Is this the confirmed setlist? http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/coldplay/2016/estadio-nacional-santiago-chile-53f053dd.html

[2016-04-01] Estadio Unico de La Plata (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Interesting - it sounds like they superimposed the intro of Midnight onto Fix You (as they did to the Clocks/Fix You mashup at Super Bowl). I like the organ version better but this was a cool change. Also Chris is playing organ at the end like the normal version.

Agreed. I actually like Army of One a lot but I saw a video I found on Youtube and the electronic drums sound pretty week whereas on the album version they have so much POWER. I do like Jonny's guitar though! Like other songs this album, Jonny sounds a lot better live.

HOLD ON A MOMENT. They're playing the version that they did at the Belasco Theatre acoustic show, in which there was an extended loud-singing section that we all thought was the lyrics to Birds because it mentions a "silver bird" but THEN IT WASN'T and there they go SINGING IT AGAIN THAT WAY. WHAT COULD IT MEAN?

[2016-03-31] Estadio Único De La Plata, La Plata, Argentina
Eh? This seems like a great setlist. Agreed that Green Eyes is a bit of a softball request though. -Live debuts of Birds and Army of One! -Return of Politik! -Midnight! -Any Coldplay cover of another artist is usually amazing -UATW is amazing and has been missing from the setlist for a while

Coldplay World Tour 2016 - 2017 Discussion
Wow neat find! It does indeed sound like Idiot though the guitar in this short clip is more effects-heavy (more reverb/delay). Maybe it's a more guitarry re-imagining. Or a new song or another B-side. Or they're just fucking around. So much excitement. :)

[2016-03-14] Coldplay live at the Today Show
^The Today website videos didn't work on Chrome for me but did on Firefox in case that helps you Nie. Great performance! The Up&Up short/radio/condensed version is pretty clunky though. I'm probably not getting used to that any time soon. The second verse is truncated, the first guitar solo about halved in length, the second solo removed, no "believe in love". Weird, but good. :)

Up&Up
I guess I phrased that clumsily. They're not on the level of Yellow/Scientist/Fix You/VLV is what I really meant, in terms of appearing in live setlists, radio play (to SOME extent), being remembered as "the great Coldplay singles".

Accurate Violet Hill outro?
This is what Jonny plays in the Viva tour but I'll have to come back to this with Chris's part. LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm referring to "English anxiety" or however you want to call it. There's a particular self deprecating humbleness / cynicism / awkwardness that I think many English people have. Which is why I believe it's important to consider Coldplay from this lens rather than against their friends from across the pond who exude a lot of arrogance. I don't know Adele or Robbie Williams' personalities well enough to comment, but I'll concede that Oasis is perhaps an exception. Liam in particular is quite the loudmouth. :) But I think that's a consequence of the types of people that rock and roll can attract, rather than a testament to how Brits are in general. Also they're from the North. :p

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
THIS. I don't think Chris or the band are at all overly humble or insecure. As an English person myself, I think it's very much an English way of expressing themselves, especially in light of the outrageous good fortune they have had as a band. I also think they have become very secure as musicians without us noticing. Chris does a lot of ambitious/loud vocals, Jonny plays HUGE guitar solos that would be unheard of in the Parachutes era, Guy's interesting basslines (Magic is a song designed around a bassline!), Will doing lots of interesting drum parts and a fair amount of singing. While they might still sound like stuttery Brits or never talk, you can see that they're letting themselves shine musically and technically. Of course, that may be separate from what you actually enjoy stylistically, and you might not be happy with how Stargate handled some things (I know I'm not). But how can you look at AHFOD and not hear the whole thing bleeding with musical interestingness??? Also the Bring Me the Horizon incident was hilarious. I thought Chris exuded a delightful amount of English passive aggression in his "and that's where we were sitting, where BMTH is now, next to the big bands" comment. That's classy wit. :)

Design the new official AHFOD t-shirt!
:( I much preferred the hexagon balloon one. Kind of vaguely Muse-like but better.

[2016-02-24] Coldplay Nominated for Best British Album & Group @ BRIT Awards
Yeah I can see that it's quite possible Will's on the backing track at that point in the song. Here's some real Will at least at the beginning of this video where he stops abruptly and there's a cute moment. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTxw7xLnJZw Mobile Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTxw7xLnJZw

Is there video of the War Child concert? Agreed that Chris is fine. Though I think this performance is good anyways.

[2016-02-24] Coldplay Nominated for Best British Album & Group @ BRIT Awards
Really? You can hear him going out of tune on Magic in this performance and others of the song. That's just one song though so hard to say for sure. I always got the impression that Will was live and then Jonny/Guy often not.

[2016-02-24] Coldplay Nominated for Best British Album & Group @ BRIT Awards
I think Will's voice microphone is set to be pretty sensitive so that he can be more flexible in drumming and singing at the same time. Those are also quite high notes at that point in the song, so they are therefore louder due to being higher, which lets you get away with pulling back from the mic anyways (otherwise it would overload the mic). Also he seems to make a couple small mistakes here and there / he sounds strained at like 2:57.

[2016-02-24] Coldplay Nominated for Best British Album & Group @ BRIT Awards
Yeah! Totally agree. Will's sounds amazing as always. It makes me think of that one part of Ink where he sings an "oooooh" and everyone thought it was Rihanna. :p But yeah....I like Beyonce's part but there's a really nice authenticity to Will singing those parts....it's like the Princess of China version that never was. (Will was originally supposed to be the duet partner, I've heard) And yeah, Jonny playing drums is something we've never seen I don't think. Though later on the piano is on the backing track coz Chris is running around yet there's still piano. Also the horns and bass during the "drink from me" section seem to be on a backing track. But also you can tell the piano's not fully backing track since there's an extra note at the beginning and of course the Chris outro. It was cool to see all this though since the past couple performances of HFTW have Chris totally running around and Beyonce on a backing track. I'm a bit obsessive about this sort of thing. :p

[2016-2-17] Coldplay to Recieve NME's Godlike Genius Award at NME Awards
Good performance but oh so many mistakes. You can tell that the whole band is in Super Bowl mode for AOAL because you'll notice that 1. Chris accidentally starts singing "if we've only got this life" early and 2. Guy/Will stop playing too early at the end.
