Army of One
"Army of one" was briefly the recruiting slogan of the US Army. Wonder if that is relevant...

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Pretty sure it's just Chris or Will. In the live version, it's Will (observe the end): [video=youtube;MV5tOCDRbFU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV5tOCDRbFU Kinda like how that one bit of backing vocal by Will in Ink sounds just like Rihanna.

Adventure Of A Lifetime
I notice a vague resemblance. What always comes to mind for me is the chorus to this: [video=youtube;IgW5MMIhlLg]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgW5MMIhlLg

Instrument at the end of the Adventure of a Lifetime?
Has anyone noticed the sound quality of Jonny's guitar solo at the end of the song? [Note on the live version it's just Jonny playing electric guitar for sure] It sounds like it might be played on sitar: [video=youtube;igDsu5QWhpo] [video=youtube;NDz2F4GnpOg] Of course, maybe it's just electric guitar mixed with a bit of acoustic guitar playing the same melody...but I wonder if this is at all an indication of other instrumentation to expect.

Up&Up
Interesting...I had no idea this happened. Here's another fun connection: 1. Cast No Shadow is said to be dedicated to Richard Ashcroft. 2. Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft performed Bittersweet Symphony together, and Chris mentions Ashcroft here: [video=youtube;UCm2BXlWjec]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCm2BXlWjec

[2015-11-09] Coldplay (Chris & Jonny) talk A Head Full of Dreams on Magic's Green Room
I always found this line a bit melodramatic. The "I wrote a song for you" line in Yellow also irks me because it's so cringingly self-referential.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I don't understand the hate for AOAL either. With the exception of the couple more electronic moments, and the vocal sample...this is a song that really stands on its own with JUST a guitar, bass, and drums. I don't think there's been a Coldplay song to fit that bill since maybe Yellow (if you look at the 2003 era performances where Chris doesn't play guitar). Totally agree!!!

Up&Up
YEAH. Those harmonies give me chills. :) Noel is one in a line of lead guitarists and amazing backup vocalists (like the Edge, Pete Townshend, John Frusciante, etc)...so I hope he has some singing in addition to the guitar.

Noel Gallagher
Indeed. Noel Gallagher certainly has a way with the guitar though...Don't Look Back in Anger and Live Forever are quintessential but have some of the best melodies in rock solos. I think in some cases both he and Jonny do the whack only one or two notes but with very cool effects sort of thing, which is kind of what happens in live versions of GPASUYF. See the solo at the end of this... [video=youtube;fOgtATs7Og8]

Noel Gallagher
Fun. :D I love Jonny and Noel. I feel like Noel is more geared to rocky solos, but based on my knowledge of Coldplay and Oasis, I have a feeling that Hurts Like Heaven has a more technically advanced solo than any Oasis/NG song I can think of.

Noel Gallagher
I had the exact same thought about the end of AOAL...it's like What a Life's woohoos but twice as fast. :p Curious too how NG might feature - will his funnky pedal from ages ago show up? Will he sing?

#AOAL - Please post your review
I quite like the song and its mission, but found the end slightly abrupt. -Lyrics are quite good. Definitely a step up from GS's slightly cringey lines. The idea of diamonds coming out from weight and pressure...that's a pretty deep idea. -Agreed with comments that Jonny/Guy/Will are the driving force in the song. The guitar riff is very Coldplay, yet the drums and bass are very disco. That's new for Coldplay and a cool nod to the presence of funk in today's pop without seeming to just steal that style (Uptown Funk). I like Chris's singing now, but was a bit turned off by it on first listen. They're kind of the same style as in Magic, where it's a bit dry talking-with-melody. I agree with an earlier comment that ASFOS has really well-integrated/engaging Chris vocals - I think he does some GREAT vocal acrobatics that fit the style of that song perfectly that somehow isn't happening here. -I disagree with comments that the song goes nowhere. The guitar solo is cool (and sounds kinda Indian-flavoured? Not sure what they did instrumentally there. Though live it sounds more Jonny), and the drums kind of double in tempo. Kinda ruined by the ooh's though. It would've been much better as a Jonny only guitar solo. I have the same issue with True Love though, where instead of a shitload of Chris ooh's I would've liked to just hear more Jonny's weeping guitar. -I like that the track generally stands on its own without too many backing tracks even with Chris not playing an instrument. It just makes everyone seem more into it, IMO. -I really like the xylophone thing going on in the left ear. It's like the thing in Another's Arms. :)

[2015-11-06] AOAL Premier at Nick Grimshaw Show BBC1
What are the odds that it plays AT 07:45 vs 1 hour of random radio stuff before it plays?? I'm on the US East Coast and don't want to be up till 3:30 needlessly. In fact it would "save" me time if I just went to sleep...

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
NICE! I had the same thought that it seemed rather Monty Python. Maybe Coldplay is going to get in touch with some of their British roots?

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
So 4:27. 42 = 6 * 7. There have been 6 LPs and this will be LP7. THINK ABOUT IT.

What if, instead of mapping the posters on a Tube map, we map them on a real-life map? (Transport maps are usually distorted to present the information more cleanly)

Rihanna part 2?! :D :D :D :D :p :D  (I like POC)

Chords used?
Capo on the second fret, then A - E - D - A for the verses, D - F#m - E for the choruses. The A is sometimes voiced as x07650, and the F#m I think is played as 244222 but I'm doing this from memory. My advice is to learn it the way Chris plays it, which sounds a lot richer/fuller.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
It's 4:29 PM in a minute.....maybe this is why Coldplay made a timeline. Or 3 more hours if going by Pacific time.......
