Can someone point me to Jonny's tweet? Thanks!

The Keane Thread - You Say Keane Sucks, I Say You Suck
Under the Iron Sea is magnificent. It also has great art. The guitar-like synths are heavenly and the lyrics poetic with anger, confusion, happiness, and moreover disillusionment. I think this and VLV are really interesting and direct products of the Iraq War when you look at the lyrics and themery.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Disagree....the instrumental at the end of UFO leads into PoC well, and the drumbeat of PoC carries over to UIF. It's a very literal stripping away of all the armour. Which I think is cool, even if ostensibly UFO and UIF are more sparse.

Two self-standing 42 minute albums within a double album? :D

[2015-09-24] Chris Martin talk on Global Citizen, NY, USA
To be fair, people were great about not leaking audio/video of ASFOS or True Love when they played shows prior to GS's release. Coldplay fans are just good like that. :)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Totally agreed on MX. Much of it is quite interesting and complex, but the presence of certain synths seems to predispose people to think both the lyrics and music are of inferior quality. Probably the worst song on the album lyrically is Up in Flames, but even that one has interesting imagery about "could we pour some water on" which I think is one step more interesting than "I love you so...so much that it hurts." ETIAW has great lyrics IMO...especially the second verse: "I turn the music up, I got my records on, from underneath the rubble sing a rebel song." Very poetic, declarative, artistic, and revolution-centric. In many ways I feel like MX has the same themes as VLV but makes it feel more modern.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
MX has the rockiest songs IMO. :) (HLH, Major Minus, DLIBYH in particular) The guitar solo in Violet Hill isn't that good compared to a lot of other Jonny lines. :p

[2015-09-24] Chris Martin talk on Global Citizen, NY, USA
Thanks for the info Christa...interested to hear about this moment too though I'm currently not listening to Amazing Day. Maybe Coldplay will get on board with Bernie Sanders like they did with Obama? *hopeful* I find it more troubling how Coldplay got so close with Apple and Steve Jobs....that's like textbook corporate right there.

Pet Peeve / Top Hate about a Coldplay Song /Album / The Band Itself, And Why?
The use of backing tracks...wholly unnecessary IMO.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
The first thing sounded a little bit like the guitar parts in Magic or AIMH....second thing reminded me of A Spell a Rebel Yell. Interesting find. :)

Coldplay Super Bowl 2016?
Recent Super Bowl artists who were are totally legit: U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones...doesn't seem that ridiculous in principle besides the NFL being an exploitative and profiteering business.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
OBSERVATION - Jonny is playing a Stratocaster, which was his main guitar for the 1st half of the MX tour....... (80% of the time he's playing a Telecaster thinline) I think it's a criticism that Coldplay might be culturally appropriating Indian culture/themes since Holli is an Indian celebration in the same way that the film Slumdog Millionaire has been criticized as using Indian images for Western consumption. Will we see a backlash like that against POC's music video? Perhaps. I do hope Coldplay treads respectfully though - it is indeed easy to use these very beautiful images from cultures that are not your own and then turn around and not acknowledge or qualify that you've done that. Not that they shouldn't, since I imagine this will be an amazing song. But still. The article also points out the potential for post-colonial tension given that Coldplay is British. I do think the article was unnecessarily harsh about Chris Martin/Coldplay though - without acknowledgement of their efforts to do good things for the world (see: Chris's recent trip to India, meetings with government leaders, visits to schools).

What are Coldplay's greatest melodies ?
This this this. I'm a big fan of Moving to Mars' guitar solo. The chant in VLV is also..PERFECT. Like...how did they do that?!

Coldplay's companies
Piritam - also at 88 90 Baker Street... (I wonder if Baker has any connection to the Bakery??) -The category tags include "Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries" and "Theatrical Producers (except Motion Picture), and Miscellaneous Theatrical Services" so likely something to do with their stage setup, lighting, pyrotechnics, etc. -Lester Dales is listed as company secretary in addition to the boys. -Jonny's signature is on a couple revenue documents (Will on a couple). Couldn't find UpUpUp Ltd though. These documents really didn't have useful information in them as far as I could tell. PM me if you'd like to see a copy of one. It's mostly revenue statements without saying where the money comes from or what it's used for.

Coldplay's companies
In case anyone is skeptical about the legitimacy of all this, go ahead and google it and you'll these same companies on a handful of other sites. I used my school to access one such database, Avention, to look at the incorporation document for Oceans' Recordings (otherwise 95p on Endole) but didn't see anything of note unfortunately besides the 25-25-25-25 split in shares held by the boys. It exists though, and I imagine there's a reason for all this! Self-released LP7/8 would be excellent. :)

Guy, Jonny, and Will are also listed as directors. Interesting find!

Was on one coast of the US when they were on the other, and then we flip flopped. </3

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
POC has one of Jonny's coolest guitar lines, which mixes with the vocal really well. Also it's structure is funky...like...it's only got 1 chorus. What's up with that?! Just to put out some "objective" reasons to like the song / suggest that it's not lazy. :)

This was fun but what does High Speed have to do with relationships??

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
For me, Coldplayness = lots of piano and guitar, which make Atlas and MTM fairly Coldplay to me...Midnight not so much. I'd love a mix of boundary-pushing things like Midnight and piano/guitar-revival...Miracles might be an indication of how that might be implemented. Or not.

[26-SEP-2015] Global Citizen Festival, New York
I agree. It's an unfortunate consequence of playing to people who don't ostensibly care. :( That's why I was really happy about Chris's 12/12/12 Sandy performance - first time he did the folksy acoustic guitar version of VLV + very unique piano version of UATW. Also the Paralympics - what an amazing setlist that was (opening with UATW, GPASUYF, POC with Rihanna, 42, Strawberry Swing)...so in that case it was clear they weren't scared of not having a captive audience. And I think they should move towards that in all their performances, even the small and non-Coldplay-geared. :)
