  1. Horns --> maybe Chris has been listening to Uptown Funk a lot. :D It'd be interesting if Coldplay did something kind old timey / I don't know what you call the genre of the following but it reminds me of something from the 60s/70s: [video=youtube;V8uGnmd4Nu0]
  2. We probably shouldn't be judging Chris's musical abilities based on a joke-y song that was likely recorded in half an hour though?
  3. 4.2! [video=youtube;7r7jtGlpooY]
  4. This would make sense. Perhaps it's a reference to the Harry Potter analogy Chris has been making?
  5. @42JTR - yeah the first couple chords sound really similar to Gravity to me as well!! I'm inclined to say it might be because Chris's speaking voice is really deep and the song is kind of speech/talking-like because of the quantity of words and jokiness of it all. But also it's been a few months off-tour so perhaps he's really rested and is getting ready for using his voice lots. ;) And perhaps the thread title should be changed?
  6. I *just* understood the joke of the title. I'm so thick. I wonder if it's a specific reference to anything (and therefore a clue to LP7 because why not :p): Gone but not forgotten.
  7. The Facebook event is private/unviewable for me - could you check the settings on it? Thanks!
  8. Yeah the vocal harmonies sounded amazing. Possibly the best Coldplay 4-part harmonies we've heard (normally Guy and Jonny are kind of accessories and it's just Chris and Will driving the vocals). I wonder if there'll be more of that on LP7. I love the whisper at the end. So creepy, so cute. :D
  9. Excellent. My favourite moment was when Liam Neeson refers to Will as "bearded drummer Will Champion" in the most nonchalant way. :D
  10. Ah I tried your link but it wouldn't get past the buffering stage. Thanks for posting. I'm in the US so I theoretically should have access...I more meant I physically can't find the stream in the page, which might be silly of me.
  11. Is there any estimate of when this would happen? My girlfriend will be in the Netherlands starting in June and I bet she'd love to be a part of this. Also do you all need an opener to play a few songs for free? My girlfriend and I happen to be in a band called Racemates such that there'd be 1/4 of Coldplay and 1/2 of my band. This is merely a silly suggestion while we're floating dreamy ideas. :p
  12. The NBC site doesn't seem to have a stream link or video player - am I in the wrong place??
  13. For X&Y the key is to use a lot of modulated pads.
  14. Does a recording of Lyla exist?!?! Thanks for the post!
  15. Actually if you watch any live video of Paradise there's a count-in by Will, since I think Will is the one most intimately tied to the click track. Though I'm not sure what the sequence of actions is like there beyond there (I don't know if Will triggers backing tracks himself, or his count-in is a cue for an offstage tech to start the backing tracks, etc).
  16. Daylight is pretty cool, especially live. A Whisper I would just cut out and not have in AROBTTH for the sake of a more concise album. On topic though, I Ran Away is quite fantastic but perhaps its lyrics were too personal in a way that was no longer relevant to LP2? I think AROBTTH ended up half-being about things other than a love interest if you look at songs like Clocks, AROBTTH, Amsterdam, GPASUYF, Politik, etc.
  17. ^Those were some fun oh's. :D I was a little surprised that GS had so many oooh's...in fact I wish True Love's oooh's were replaced by...MORE JONNY GUITAR SOLO. But I digress. I'm going to post this video here because I was actually intending to submit it to the Hypnofeed except that of course stopped existing. This is a music video my band made over the course of last year that is heavily inspired by Midnight's music video as well as a couple other things. Hope y'all like it. :) [video=youtube;75F6lPN4v8g]
  18. You might say...anything is possible?
  19. I like what I'm seeing in this thread! Here be shameless self promotion...this is a new music video my band just released. Hope y'all like it!! [video=youtube;75F6lPN4v8g]
  20. Why is it being an Israeli app preclusive to Coldplay supporting it? It's not like anyone who is Israeli is automatically a no-no to interact with just because you support the existence of a Palestinian state / peace in the area / etc. Also don't forget that hideous Coldplay-for-Target concert... :p So it's not unlike them to have a couple bizarre corporate moves like this one looks like it could be.
  21. Do y'all really think the music scene has gotten that bad? Just curious. While I agree that some great music happened between 1990 and 2010, it seems like a reasonable amount of rock, indie, interesting-electronic is happening too. Artists like St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Chvrches come to mind. Wow this song is fantastic! Better than a lot of analogous indie rock acts floating around right now for sure. I do like the Coldplay version of Gravity better. :p
  22. We also have live performances where Will sings lead vocals in Us Against the World at the very end. :) Muse's the 2nd Law has two songs sung by Chris Wolstenholme (their bassist)...a 2-song Will interlude would be fun. :D I agree that his voice is less lead-vocal-ish. I think this is a dichotomy that seems to exist in a lot of good bands. If you think of Oasis, the Who, U2, Coldplay itself, Muse...to name a few...the lead singer is a technically worse singer than the chief backup vocalist (Noel Gallagher, Pete Townshend, the Edge, Will, Chris Wolstenholme). But it's still something fresh that Coldplay hasn't brought to the forefront.
  23. I haven't seen any formal sources on GS-era Guy since it's still pretty recent. What I hear (and I may very well be wrong about these) are... -AIMH: during the instrumental after the 1st chorus, I think Guy is using a chorus pedal...such as this: [video=youtube;z6C-6NuhUgU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6C-6NuhUgU -Magic: I actually don't think Guy is using any special effects. I think there's just a particular gain + EQ setting you need to find. There's a bit of high end being emphasized I think. -Midnight: buy a laser harp. -ASFOS: you can hear the bass isolated in the following video. I hear a bit of chorus and a bit of delay (starting at 1:23). [video=youtube;BJ78bwKOUs4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ78bwKOUs4 Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction. :)
  24. In response to "What are you working on?" Rik says LP7, and notes the recording in different places. The next question for what do you want to do in 2015, he says "lots of modular synths." One could make the connection that he means modular synths IN LP7....or not.
