  1. Didn't really find anything about this on search...don't kill me if I missed it..and don't kill me if you don't like prefaces like these. :p Anyhow....this ought to be a place to discuss what songs you think are good to start out on, what you have trouble on + exchange singing tips, and just talk about what you sing along to or play yourself. I'll start... Hard - Fix You: the falsetto in the end is tough because I can hit the notes but I can't sing them with any decent volume or feeling...though I do wonder if it would sound beefier just by gathering my 3 favourite friends to sing along/harmonize. Easy - Green Eyes; especially because I play the live version that's been tuned down 1 step from the album version. Fun - Square One. ^__^

This summer, I had a dream that I was in Venice. In this small courtyard, I saw the Coldplay piano. Not only did it have the green MTF tape, the keys were glowing green. Somehow this made me think the piano was irradiated, kind of like the irradiated money in the Dark Knight. Anyhow, I start walking away...but then I hear the synthesizer fade-in for Talk, so I run back to where I found the piano. Now I see the whole band (in X&Y era attire) playing Talk. Chris is on a low balcony, and I start singing along. He bends down over the railing and shares the mic with me, and then I harmonize with him on the first verse. I nearly died. :o
  3. In terms of channeling Radiohead, it does seem like some of the stuff on Parachutes has the influence. High Speed, for example, makes me think of Airbag or Lucky in a vague way.
  4. Ohh okay. Yay! Thanks for the intro tab by the way, I was having a lot of trouble hearing some of the notes. I'm British, but I live in America; I learned Spanish at school but I consider myself fairly fluent.
  5. You sure? I honestly can't tell anymore. >___< Thanks for the confirmation though. Ah no worries about your English. I see that you're from Peru. ¿Hablas español?
  6. TELL ME YOUR OWN POLITIK!
  7. FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, For You is one of my favourite songs ever. I'm surprised no one has said it.
  8. Thanks for the tab! Correct on the correction too - that 577500, that Bbsus2 (Amsus2 relative to capo) is just a beautiful chord. :D Jonny's part at the end is in 16th notes. Are you sure in the last beat, is there a note before the bend? I've been having trouble figuring that out because of the delay making it hard to hear, but it sounds like it COULD be this. I inserted vertical brackets to indicate the beginning of each beat; the x means a rest. e------16-----11-------11|--------11---------11|--------11---------11|------------------------------------------ b--------------------13-------13--------13---------13--------13----------13b14r13---x-------------------------- g----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- d------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ a------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- e-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^So is your way or my way correct? Jaja did you forget your password?

Yesssss #23!!!! As a Lost fan, that's HUGE to me. :o
  10. Coming in a mess, going out in style, I ain't good looking but I'm someone's child, No one can give me the Oasis that's mine to listen!
  11. I loved X&Y. For reference, AROBTTH, X&Y, Viva/Prospekt's, Parachutes...but I love all of them as equally as that ranking would allow. I definitely catch the space vibe in most of the songs. Most evident I'd say in Talk with the synthesizers (I LOVE the synthesizer part in the middle). A Message is a great song...too obscure. :( But absolutely brilliant. The God interpretation is valid, I think. It's not the *only* interpretation. But considering the part about "standing on a platform"...at first I thought of the platform at a train station, but now I'm thinking of like a crucifix or a gallows. Who knows. My favourite part is the guitar solo after the 2nd chorus, and how the solo plays over the final chorus. .....and....I think Low is a great song. As is What If. They both sound really good live, by the way. Low is just..fast-paced and great as a headbanger - the "don't you wanna see it come soon" part brings chills. What If, I think, has great lyrics that really convey that sense of uncertainty and overanalysis endemic to love and other stuff in life. @Hartroc - what do you mean by wine glass solo? Did I miss something. :( And yeah, the chorus of What If is kickass. The riff Jonny plays there is really cool.
  12. -Kawai piano from ~2001. -Bach trumpet, got this in 2003. -Epiphone EJ200 acoustic guitar, 2009, but bought it this summer.
  13. SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED SLEEP SATISFIED ....Yeah, try to sleep with my yelling that down your ear.
  14. Upon perusal of your posts, it rather seems like you're a great big fan you are, Mr. or Ms. Acquiesce. :p It so happens that I am an extremely big fan. :D Maybe even bigger than you. ;):p
  15. :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: At least they didn't call it Palm Tree. :wink3: Agreed. I much prefer Noel's voice, although you do have to concede Liam has a more "rock and roll" voice. It's kind of parallel to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of the Who. Roger has a lot more raw power and just sounds cool, but Pete is probably the better singer anyways.
  16. BAH. There's a brilliant Y U NO poster that's got the guy in a party hat saying: RADIOHEAD Y U NO LIKE SURPRISES?
  17. I really hope they'll get back together...or I'll be really unhappy. :( I suppose Beady Eye should be alright though. Man of Misery's reasonably catchy. Is there a way to update the poll? It's missing Dig Out Your Soul and Heathen Chemistry; and a couple of those are live albums/compilations. I voted for the Masterplan because it has all the good songs from Definitely Maybe and WTSMG. Plus, the Masterplan itself is probably my favourite song of all time.
  18. I think Muse is very sexy. :) Especially Dom in his green trousers. <3
  19. Take a leap of faith. :)
  20. *Bump* Does anyone know the rhythm of the 1st half of the Now the sky.... part? The part that goes 16 on the e string, 11-11-11-11-11 on the e string, 13, bend to 14 on the B string. Thanks a bunch.
  21. Now I've never been to a show of either band, BUT I WISH I HAVE, as I love Muse and Coldplay (probably sharing my #1 favourite band spot with like..Oasis, Keane, and Radiohead).... From what I've seen on Youtube, Muse is more "perfect" in a slightly cold way. While Matt, Dom, and Chris seem like brilliant and nice guys, there's definitely more charm and humanity to other-Chris, Jonny, Will, and Guy. Chris's voice will crack, he'll self-deprecate for 10 minutes before he FINALLY starts playing the Hardest part, Will makes crazy eyes or smirks while Chris compliments him, stuff like that. So in terms of fun factor, Coldplay is better because they are more lighthearted about things while somehow still making 99% perfect music. In terms of the music itself, as I've said, Muse is more perfect. Both bands seem to deviate from album versions a lot in a good way. Muse can definitely get CRAZY though - watch any live video of Stockholme Syndrome or Newborn and no two will be the same - there's a lot to be said for the talent of each member of Muse. In terms of spectacle, Coldplay wins hands down. In the early days they definitely had a chill atmosphere and just the right lights. Now it's balloons and butterflies, which in my opinion is brilliant (except for the poor blokes who have to clean them up). So who would I end up going with? Coldplay, for sure. Edit - heresjohnny pretty much said what I was going for in a much more compact way. Coldplay has a lot more emotion but Muse has far more immense musicianship. PS - LOVE your name. :)
  22. I see this song as about holding on to your loved ones in a time of crisis...there's a lot of Cold War imagery - the title itself, technicolor, refers to how TV was the big thing in the 1950s-60s. My interpretation might be a bit morbid and pulled out of the ass, but bear with me here. There's a wild wind blowing (nuclear fallout?) Down the corner of my street Every night there the headlights are glowing (police cars) There's a cold war coming on the radio I heard Baby, it's a violent world (self explanatory) Oh love, don't let me go! (image: family holding tight inside a bomb shelter or the Underground) Won't you take me where the streetlights glow? (where the streetlights are..still intact..where there's still human goodness) I can hear it coming I can hear the siren sound (air raid sirens) Now my feet won't touch the ground (image: getting exploded, flying into the air) Time came a-creeping (time --> death) Oh, and time's a loaded gun (war imagery) Every road is a ray of light It goes oooooonnnn... Time only can lead you on Still it's such a beautiful night (Sarcasm - explosions, rays of light are beautiful - I agree with the poster who said this part is about a soldier at war) Oh love, don't let me go! Won't you take me where the streetlights glow? I can hear it coming Like a serenade of sound Now my feet won't touch the ground Gravity, release me No, don't ever hold me down (the meaning changes to do not oppress us [maybe a reference to the Civil Rights movement] Now my feet won't touch the ground
  23. This - Morgan Nichols handles most of the extra stuff, and he does a great job of it - now Muse sounds a lot fuller. Before it had to be backing tracks on songs like Butterflies and Hurricanes and Bliss (it's really obvious in Bliss) but having him there makes things a lot more genuine in my opinion. In terms of Coldplay..I wouldn't mind either way - it doesn't cheapen it at all I think.
  24. !! I think I know what you're talking about. In that moment it sounds like he's about to cry.....which makes me want to cry.
