  1. I voted Glowing in the Dark It's mentioned several times in the song, it caputres the excited feeling of running away together and I think it sounds pretty good
  2. I read the Oracle question about why Charlie Brown is called Charlie Brown and pretty much it is a deleted lyric and they couldn't think of what else to call it. That leads to a good question, what would you call it (exlcuding Charlie Brown)? I'll post up 4-5 options, but leave an Other category for other suggestions.
  3. It's a catchy tune. My only gripe is that I think they needed to come back to the chorus one more time later in the song.
  4. Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of them would continue as Coldplay if it wasn't the 4 of them, but if they did have to replace a member, any one of them could except for Chris, which was my point. That said, I don't see any of them going anywhere.
  5. As Rated in my WMP, I use the stars as letter grades, 5=A, 4=B, 3=C, 2=D, 1=F 5 Stars: Viva-----------------------------------------MX --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Viva La Vida-------------------------------Charlie Brown Violet Hill-----------------------------------Us Against the World Lovers in Japan---------------------------AHT/Don't Let it Break Your Heart Death and All His Friends---------------Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Reign of Love------------------------------Up with the Birds -----------------------------------------------MX/Hurts Like Heaven 4 Stars: Viva------------------------------------------MX --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Life in Technicolor-------------------------MMIX 42--------------------------------------------Paradise Lost!-----------------------------------------UFO The Escapist--------------------------------Princess of China ------------------------------------------------Up in Flames 3 Stars: Viva------------------------------------------MX --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cemeteries of London--------------------Major Minus Yes Strawbery Swing 2 Stars: Viva------------------------------------------MX --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chinese Sleep Chant
  6. I want a MX EP without Car Kids, solely for the entertainment value of the wailing and knashing of teeth that would go on here.
  7. That's true, but that's true for pretty much every bass player outside of like 5, Flea being the most notable. In terms of live performance, i'd say Jonny is more replacable than Will. Technically his stuff isn't all that difficult, he is just very good at writing catchy melodies. There is no Coldplay without Chris Martin.
  8. Unless they play one of DLIBYH or UWTB i'll just stick with Glastonbury or Rock in Rio. I like the album version of Up in Flames a lot better than live anyway.
  9. Yes, very much so. I've listened to it start to finish about a dozen times and I rarely listen to an album start to finish, mostly because I don't have much time where I can focus on one thing for an hour straight.
  10. I think the opposite, his bass on MX is rock solid start to finish. One of the high points of the album for me. You must not have your low noises turned up enough on whatever device you listen too most. 99% of all albums don't prominantly feature the bass, and bass solo's are even rarer. The Van Halen bass solo Ultra Bass by Michael Anthony is a fantastic bass solo though. The guy I feel sorry for in the rhythym section is Will, there are a few songs where he isn't doing much at all with the drums. Granted he makes up for it with backup vocals and playing some other instruments. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfuExbhkA3c]Van Halen - Ultra Bass[/ame]
  11. MX is a little more pop than they have been, but it's ridiculous to say they haven't always had pop influences.
  12. Please, I get that some people don't like Coldplay making pop songs (which is nothing new) but PoC is far from being foreign territory. It's not my favorite song on MX, but it's not my least favorite either. It's catchy, has a good beat and it's them trying something new.
  13. A Hopeful Transmission is my favorite instrumental, but I think Mylo Xyloto is more crucial to hearing Hurts Like Heaven than AHT or MMIX is to their respective tracks.
  14. I certainly don't expect anything resembling this, but if I got to pick my own Coldplay show for this tour (meaning emphasising the new album) then this is what mine would be.
  15. Charlie Brown Us Against the World A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let it Break Your Heart Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Up with the Birds Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven Up in Flames Paradise Princess of China UFO Major Minus
  16. 1. A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let it Break Your Heart 2. Talk 3. Clocks 4. Trouble 5. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 6. In My Place 7. Up in Flames 8. Speed of Sound 9. Yellow 10. Hurts Like Heaven 11. Paradise 12. Viva La Vida 13. Sparks 14. Reign of Love 15. Us Against the World 16. Politik 17. Violet Hill 18. Up with the Birds 19. Life in Technicolor II 20. Fix You 21. Lovers in Japan 22. The Scientist 23. Charlie Brown Politik into Violet Hill into Us with the Birds would have some nice transitions The end of ETIAW was tailor made as a transition into In My Place I like how they usually finish up the live version of Yellow with a big flourish which I think would lead nicely into Hurts Like Heaven
  17. I want a video for Charlie Brown to be the band animated like the Peanuts gang and dancing around with the Peanuts characters
  18. If they knew about that process, then it is a great homage to the Peanuts gang.
  19. A mix of Lovers in Japan, Glass of Water and the Escapist all with the fast forward button pushed firmly down.
  20. I actually prefer the studio versions of Viva and Fix You to the live performances. Those aren't the only two either (Everything's Not Lost, Speed of Sound, The Scientist, Lovers in Japan, Life in Technicolor II, Politik....) Don't get me wrong, there are still a ton of songs I prefer live to studio (Shiver, Hurts Like Heaven, Clocks, Violet Hill, God Put a Smile on My Face, Paradise, Trouble, Talk....) And plenty more I like equally but maybe in different ways (Charlie Brown, Death and All His Friends, Lost, In My Place, Glass of Water, Yellow, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Sparks, Us Against the World....)
  21. I love the intro and the cleaned up version of the studio. I also love how the bass kicks in some of the live versions instead of the piano/organ. Overall, I prefer the studio version though, great song.
  22. Talking strictly studio versions it's a toss up between Charlie Brown, Viva La Vida and Fix You Live songs is between Charlie Brown, Clocks and Violet Hill Considering Charlie Brown made both lists, I guess I have my answer.
  23. DAAHF is a better song overall but UWTB is better lyrically. DAAHF is just so strong in every other category though.
  24. It's already announced as the next single and I guarantee you they will play it with Rihanna at the grammy's
  25. There is no car kids, they are about to launch a Calvin Klien ad campaign to the music of Mylo Xyloto
