  1. Okay, I dislike sexism as much as the next sane human being, but let's play devil's advocate, here... What about Beyonce laying into men every five minutes? I would kick Chris Brown in the nadgers if I met him - for his "music", for a start - but if women are really offended by misogynistic popstars like him, they shouldn't buy his records. He only churns them out because someone's buying them, and I've never seen a male Chris Brown fan. We also have a show in Britain called Loose Women, for those that don't know, which is a daytime chat show where five middle-aged woman moan about men for half an hour. And there are adverts, tv shows, music videos and films in which women perve on men, and they get away with it, but over here, there were two male commentators on Sky Sports who were sacked after making sexist comments. Generally women, we have your back. We don't stand for sexism in the media. But gender discrimination isn't a big thing in the West. Okay, my girlfriend can't walk through the park, get on a bus or stand in a club without men chatting her up (or trying), but that's, eight or nine times out ten, as bad as most women will get in the UK, anyway. There are countries though where women are horribly discriminated against, they can't work, they can't marry who they want and they're expected to be slaves. I think it's a whole lot more important to stand up for them, than Snoop Dogg's "bitches". I'm not having a go at anyone in this thread, I just think it's an interesting topic. There are a lot of women who have it really bad in life, it pisses me off when someone as lucky as Beyonce doesn't see it.

Yeah, in a word, just talk to her. If you like her, do it.

I really hope they don't do a rock opera. Talk about pretentious.

^ I think they'll go quite light and pastelly. As for the thing about whether they're musically in their prime, "prime" in itself suggests that taste can be measured in quality. They're not in any prime, they've just changed since Parachutes.

It bothers me if a girl smokes. It doesn't bother many people I know, but I've got it from my mum. It bothered her that my dad smoked. I think it's a bit weird to add a girl to show her pictures of elephants. Add her and get to know her, blah blah.
  7. I literally have no idea what point you're trying to make. I feel like Brick in Anchorman during the "loud noises" scene.
  8. Why do people join forums to troll? Seriously? If you're a fully grown man with a daughter and all you can do is shout preconceived rubbish about hippies, Coldplay fans and your own distorted take on liberalism to the internet's metaphorical rooftops, isn't it time to get a hobby or passion of some sort? No offence, obviously, PargeLenisJr.
  9. Why do people always say that when they're genuinely trying to cause offence?
  10. Getting real tired of his shit, man.
  11. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAMON SOLO ALBUM. In fact, I want it more than I want a new Blur album; Blur have a legacy to ruin. If Damon's album isn't that great, it'll be shelved alongside Dr Dee and Democrazy. And think how great the tour would be... he'd be able to stick in songs like Revolving Doors, Strange News from Another Star and Apple Carts, songs that he would otherwise never get a chance to perform.
  12. What was John Lennon's last hit? The pavement.

It's almost impossible if you're a fan to miss it all. I'm a Doctor Who fan and I avoided the news of David Tennant and Billie Piper returning for ten minutes, and the revealing of the title of the last episode this series for an hour. I'm not on any forums, it's just my friends, Twitter and Tumblr all can't keep quiet about that kinda shit. Surely it's more fun guessing from less clues, not a board full of titles, Chris in interviews saying "We're influenced by A, B and C" and nothing leaking whatsoever? I enjoy the speculation as much as the next man, but I think I'm enjoying it more right now, when we know nothing, than I did a month before MX came out, and we pretty much just had the tracklisting to form.
  15. What with all these threads about alcohol, drugs, hippies, curb-stomping, eating disorders and the like, here is a thread that I'm starting simply for shit jokes. Join in if you want. Rick Astley owns a Pixar DVD collection and he'll lend you anything, but not the one about the old man in a balloon... he's never gonna give you Up. My girlfriend said she was dumping me over my obsession with the Monkees. I thought she was joking. But then I saw her face... I saw a man last night trying to steal my gate. Didn't want to say anything in case he took a fence.

Taking drugs does not make you liberal, the same as being against drugs is not a more conservative view to take. You need to stop generalising against groups of people, and open your eyes to the idiosyncrasies within these groups. And someone, I think, should perhaps point out to the younger members of this forum that just because older members of this forum take drugs and get drunk, it doesn't mean you have to. "Drugs and alcohol" isn't written on a bar that you have to jump over, it's something that you should only do if you feel that's what's right for you. I'm not trying to patronise anyone, but it's not something that you should ever feel pressured to do, especially via internet forums. Not that I'm saying anyone's pressuring anyone. Just saying as a disclaimer more than anything.

I think no matter how long they wait, they shouldn't give us so much drip-fed info from the studio this time. I want it out of nowhere. No idea who worked on it. How long for. What the songs are called. No leaked titles. Just surprises and lots of them. Because MX was built up way beyond anything any album could match.

  20. I'm not sure. I don't know any hippies, but I know Coldplay fans, and is someone a hippy because they do drugs and they believe in peace and love? I'm a Coldplay fan and a socialist, but I wouldn't label myself a hippy. I think the only trait we come close to sharing as one, is that we want to be loved, by someone or something, or even lots of people. It's what drives humanity. Coldplay simply expose that in their music, but then so do a lot of bands. Basically, I don't think you can generalise. Saying Coldplay fans are hippies is like saying that black people like hip-hop.

Seriously, look at everyone releasing a comeback album this year and ask yourselves if it's worth the wait. Most of them are.

Honestly don't care if it's ten years away, as long as it's good.
