  1. Not High School Musical, just the usual poppy-rock kind of stuff. Here's the most stomachable of their songs, in my opinion: Oh, and here's their Busted cover: I mean, their main songwriter is 15. He gets respect for coming up with something like that. At least it's catchy, if not exactly good (to me, anyway).
  2. I think Miller (aka Roadie #42) basically went into the nosebleed seats, looking for some of the biggest fans, and just essentially started handing out front row tickets. As said already, he tells the story in one of the blogs at coldplay.com...#14, actually. http://coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=79&page=0
  3. They may be overhyped Disney crap, but I will give them credit for at least writing their own songs (however lyrically inane) and playing their own instruments. More than some bands/singers like that can say these days...
  4. I really have to disagree with that. Because as stupid as it may seem on the surface (i.e. Chris walking around looking like the Burger King), I think it puts a lot of the song's themes right in front of you in an easily accessible way. It shows someone losing all their power and glory and looking like a nutter right in the middle of everything, but in the end, still manages to reclaim something of his former glory. In my opinion, it presents the song in a MUCH better fashion than the Hype Williams version. And Corbjin has it much more beautifully shot than the stylized MTV version. The only redeeming quality about the Hype Williams version is the ridiculousness of Chris' dance moves, which are on par with mine. As he said, "Our dancing is more about enthusiasm than talent." And it really shows there. :laugh4:
  5. HOW DID I MISS THIS UNTIL NOW?? And Coldplay, please release the 2nd one. It's so brilliant and funny and it fits the song perfectly. The first one is just...filler, in my honest opinion. An extended iTunes commercial that will do nothing to make you guys look better. BUT THE SECOND ONE...it's genius. Pure genius.
  6. Unfortunately, I'm heading across the country for college, so none of the October concerts in the States work for me...and I was going to go away during Christmas break anyway to some destination in Europe. Dublin is lovely...and even lovelier when Coldplay's involved! :D
  7. I only just realized that this is the closer for the European tour leg. I was kicking myself for not buying tickets for the 21st instead, as its the grand opening of the O2, but I think this is even better!! Oh, this is going to be one fun concert. Only...4 and a half months left?
  8. I've seen them three times myself! Saw them first time in Chicago in this little tiny venue called the Metro (Coldplay played there themselves, would have LOVED to seen that) and it only holds like 1,500 people, so I got front row. That was about a day or two after UTIS came out here in the States. Then I saw them on their 2nd US leg in May 2007 in Philly, and was right up front again, and it was just magical. I seriously had no voice after that show...that one really pushed me to my limits. Then I went all the way to London to see them at the O2 gig! Well, we were planning on being in London at that time anyway, so it was just happy coincidence I managed to grab tickets to see my 2nd favorite band as well. That show was nuts. I was all the way up in the nosebleeds (miles away compared to the other 2 shows), but I didn't care. Now I have the DVD to relive it up close whenever need be, so it's all good. Hoping to see them a couple more times with this go-round. They're just breathtaking live.
  9. Awesome!! I was considering getting tickets for the 21st as well, but decided against it considering 150 MORE euro on top of the actual getting-to-Dublin part AND US dollar to euro exchange rates just wasn't worth it. And I've just realized...how good will The Dubliners be IN DUBLIN?? :laugh4:
  10. I'm in Block E, Row 32, Seats 132-133. But I see you're going on the 21st from your sig, right? Or did you happen to get tickets for the 22nd as well? If it's the former, you'll have to tell me how those seats are, as I'll be there the day after! From the "virtual tour" at the O2 website, it looks like there's really no bad seats in the house.
  11. Yep, and not bad seats either! I managed to grab 32nd row in Block E (one of the front blocks) for the show on the 22nd. And there's nearly identical seats I just pulled up for the 21st out of curiosity...Block C, row 32.
  12. Okay, looks like I might have to eat my hat about a Lovers in Japan video for right now. Alas, I wanted to see that. Someday soon, hopefully!
  13. TICKETS ARE RELEASED FOR BOTH SHOWS! GO, GO, GO!!! I'm going to Dublin! :D
  14. And I'm hoping for some US tour dates myself before the year is out!
  15. Ahhh, no more Nappies? I was holding out hope for that. Now THAT was finally an excellent/worthwhile question!
  16. I'd agree about the sometimes-frivolity of some of the blogs, but Coldplay will never beat Tom Chaplin's video about their search for a Prophet T8 synth in Paris. The "There goes James Blunt's tour bus..." bit alone is priceless. And if you're clueless as to what I'm referencing, watch and laugh: Oh, and watch the Snapshots of Tim Rice-Oxley/Richard Hughes ones too. Both brilliant!
  17. Well, first off, Keane have had The Barn well before Coldplay ever had The Bakery. And I would think that new bands always want to try something new on each subsequent album. Let's take Bloc Party's new album for example. Or if you want a historical example, try U2's Pop (though that didn't go over so well, did it?). And quite honestly, I liked Keane's album updates way more than Coldplay's. While it was always exciting to get a note from the mysterious Prospekt, they were few and far between. Keane had daily updates--pictures, notes from the band, and the always hilarious Tom-filmed Youtube videos. So, no, I don't think Keane necessarily copied Coldplay. They're just keeping their fans updated in a timely way using the Internet age. Wouldn't you do the same??
  18. Love them. I especially like Ladies of Cambridge and M79.
  19. Well, they totally admin-locked the site after the leaks. And the jerk who got the song refused to share it so long that the admins eventually put a stop to him totally. We all know that never would have happened here! Guess it'll be a 4 day wait. Alas!
  20. Still waiting for upload... And Spiralling cover+new Keane logo:
  21. And more info. Someone at keanemusic.com managed to get a hold of the site in transition and got a copy of the single. Waiting for upload. Also, I managed to get a sneak peek at the website, and there's a nice post from TTR that says, YAY!
  22. And Spiralling is now officially on the Radio 1 playlist!
  23. Lore, I stole inadvertently stole your idea today. When I saw all the stupid questions this morning, I just decided to ask, "What's the bass player's name? He's rather handsome." I'm sure that'll give them a laugh.
  24. I'm not disagreeing with you, but the corporate machine of EMI is probably demanding another proper single by this point. One that hasn't hit #1 in both the US and UK already.
  25. AND the new song has been essentially confirmed. If you go to http://www.keanemusic.com/spiralling , it redirects you to http://www.keanemusic.com/download-register.php . They're both blank pages, but it shows they're getting everything ready!
