The Oasis Thread
Clearly a deranged Radiohead fan, although I have to say, it was pretty hilarious as long as Noel was okay. Also, I just have to bring up that Noel's Radiohead quote mentioned polar bears in the Antarctic, when he should clearly realize they don't live in the Antarctic but only the Arctic. What an idiot. God. :laugh4:

Lyrics for "The Dubliners"
I'll second this question! Anyone have a guess?

[FAKE FAKE FAKE] REVIEW: Prospekt's March EP
No one really knows from what I can tell. But this all reminds me of the controversy that was on Keane's official boards before Spiralling was released. Someone accidentally got into the site three days prior and (supposedly) downloaded the song. They refused to share it at first; by the time they agreed to hours later, then the mods wouldn't let them share it, people freaked out, etc. So Navegador, just come out and tell the truth, please??

Hilarious Chris video...
I'd never seen this one before, but it's a behind-the-scenes video from when Chris was on Extras. Might be one of the funniest things I've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe0vfITgZpE Sorry if it's posted before, but I'm usually up on these things and I've only just seen it. There's too many good bits in it to name.

guess 'Prospekt's march-EP' tracklist
Chris just about confirmed in Chicago that The Dubliners is going to be on the EP. "This is called The Dubliners and it's going to be on some kind of EP, but first we've got to finish writing it, which we're going to do right now." So I think it's safe to say it'll be there. I hope so anyway--needs a proper studio version. Hopefully extended, too!

The official **KEANE** thread
Cover art revealed! I'm liking it. Just what I'd expect after hearing the songs. Hi everyone. Thought you might enjoy a sneaky look at the cover art for Perfect Symmetry. The basic pattern is a combination of ideas - namely the decidedly imperfect symmetry that's one of the main themes of the album, and the design concepts of the Bauhaus movement that we fell in love with while we were recording in Berlin. Looking through the gaps in the pattern you can see glimpses of sculptures of us specially made by the brilliant Korean artist Osang Gwon. These sculptures are truly incredible works of art, and you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the next few months. We'll also be telling the story of how they were created - it's quite a process, quite an experience in fact. They're life-size (a bit bigger actually), spooky, stunning, hyperreal and funny all at the same time. The man is a genius. Tim

So Prospekt's March EP
And I believe The Dubliners will be on it, right? Didn't they state at the Chicago show before they played it that it was "going to be on an EP" that they were working on? Trust me, I saw that in SOME Youtube video. :laugh4: I really hope they take a nice folksy turn with this.

And now I can't get the chorus of The Lovers Are Losing out of my head. Seriously, I think all these new Keane songs are growers. They're just "ehhh" at first and then you realize how good they actually are. Love Is the End keeps getting better and better as well.

22-Dec-08: O2 Arena, Dublin - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos (NEW DATE)
Mine came yesterday, too! At first, I was like, "Who's sending me something from Ireland?" Then it clicked. :D

Wow, I go away for a few days and look what happens in Keane-land! And Better Than This is my favorite new track, I think. Although Love Is the End is really great as well--very "old Keane" but still great. The Lovers Are Losing is alright, but too Crystal Ball-ish for me at the moment.

Bloc Party
No comments on the album itself yet? I've gotten about 3 listens in already and I'm thinking it's pretty good. Is anyone getting Sigur Ros-ish vibes from Signs? Seriously, it sounds like it could be a Sigur Ros song--minus Kele singing of course.

The Offical "The Killers" Thread
I don't understand the Sam's Town hate that I hear all the time. Brilliant album in my opinion. Read My Mind ranks up there as a classic Killers track. This River Is Wild is just massive--even moreso live. I really liked their whole concept-album-but-not-really-a-concept-album idea. Also, that said, I think All These Things That I've Done MIGHT just be one of the best songs of all time. It's seriously iconic.

Arcade Fire
You should be doing that. Like right now! Because in my humble opinion, Funeral is far and away better than Neon Bible. Don't get me wrong, Neon Bible is fantastic. But Funeral is just...untouchable.

Bloc Party
Wait, so those of us in the US won't be able to download it in 2 days? Well, that sucks... And can anyone possibly rip that file from NME.com? My Mac obviously doesn't like Windows Media Player, so I'm stuck not listening!

Russell Brand
I've been searching this whole forum like crazy looking for a thread on this guy--he's hilarious and now I see he's hosting the VMAs. Kind of surprised he got that kind of recognition here in the US! Anyone have any of his CDs or DVDs? I can't find them anywhere and I'm eager to check out his work beyond Youtube.

Bloc Party
Definitely a surprise announcement!! Can't wait!

I'm From Barcelona
Anybody fans of them? Their second album, "Who Killed Harry Houdini?" is coming out pretty soon and I've just started really getting into them. They're this 29 piece indie band/choir from Sweden. Really incredibly catchy songs. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone! ^My favorite song off their first album, "Let Me Introduce My Friends," called "We're From Barcelona" ^Their forthcoming single, "Paper Planes"

Ask the Oracle on Coldplay.com (Now in session!)
Already asked that! Well, a variation on it. :laugh4: I said, "Coldplay gave us 42, but we knew that already. Now what's the Ultimate Question?" No response...sadly...

Sigur Rós
How nuts is it that Sigur Ros play that Hoppipolla/Með Blóðnasir combo around the 6-8th songs on their setlist every night? Bands would KILL for something like that to be their closer, let alone played right in the middle of the set. It's absolutely brilliant!

Did he plan that? He had to, because it was absolutely hysterical.

01-Nov-08: Philadelphia - Wachovia Center - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
Considering coming! Have to decide if I want to come back home from school for this weekend to go. I have a week to decide, at least!

[11 August 2008] Four US shows announced...
I'm considering the Philly show, but that would mean coming home from college for the weekend. Although it is a Saturday and would thus probably work. Hmm...well, there's a week to decide!

I'm not getting the Brandon Flowers comparisons either. Keane and The Killers are both among my favorite bands, but I personally just don't hear Tom sounding like Brandon at all. And let's face it, Tom Chaplin could sing both Brandon Flowers and Chris Martin under a table. (And I mean that with the utmost respect because they, along with Bono, comprise my favorite frontmen in the world right now.)

F.C.Barcelona
Resurrecting a very old thread, but heading out to see Barca tonight! Can't wait, although Messi won't be there. But Henry, Eto'o, and Puyol will, so it'll still be fantastic!

PARIS HILTON RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! *Not a joke*
Her energy policy actually makes sense. I'd like to hear the rest of her platform before I make a decision, though. :laugh4:
