Last month Chris Martin of the British band Coldplay reportedly got stuck in an elevator in Brisbane, Australia. That the man who sang "Fix You" and "Don't Panic" might have had "A Rush of Blood to the Head" while trapped in a faulty lift for two hours is the stuff of tabloid headlines. But any symbolic significance seen in the episode would be misplaced. After all, the vertiginous rise of Coldplay over the last few years has been nothing short of unstoppable, with only Martin himself apparently able to alter the future fortunes of the band. Surprisingly, though, the British quartet have yet to officially tour Japan. This apparent oversight will finally be addressed w…

Coldplay singer Chris Martin has a Hollywood wife - but don't let that fool you into thinking he's a playboy. Martin - who has two kids with Gwyneth Paltrow - says a playboy lifestyle couldn't be further from the band's mind. "At a time when we could just buy speedboats, we are really fired up about trying to do something," Chris says. "We have had three albums now, sold lots of records, we've taken a lot of shit ... and played to lots of intelligent people. Now it is time to do something great." As one of the world's biggest rock outfits, Coldplay have sold 20 million albums worldwide, won four Grammys and four Brit Awards. But being one of the world's biggest …

Black may be the new, erm, black, but it’s how you wear it that matters. Liam Gallagher managed to be the picture of cool yesterday when he stepped out of a recording studio in Ealing, West London. But Chris Martin looked totally stupid in similarly dark gear, wearing his cap backwards as Coldplay arrived in Perth, Australia, ahead of a concert. Judging by Liam’s rude gesture, he must’ve seen the picture of Chris. Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk

I've been going through all these random threads, and I'm not sure if one like this already exists, but people have some hilarious quotes from bands, thought it would make for good reading  Let me start us all off with... "Coldplay is for people with great taste, intelligence, incredible good lookingness, talent, ability, success, grabbing of life. Coldplay's for people who know what life is about. They are always entertaining. Delightful to talk to. Sweet, charming, incredibly good in bed. Virile. They have incredible success with girls or boys...or both. They're generally just the world's best citizens. Maybe i'm biased. But i'm definitely right." - Chris Ma…

OK, if you could (or wanted to) rename one of Coldplay's songs, which one would it be and why? What would you rename it to? If I could I would rename "Marianne" "Jenika" because I have two friends named Marianne and they don't appreciate Coldplay as much as I do!:D I also think that the new name will make it stand out more----it certainly makes me stand out! :P

I'm still paralyzed, I was hoping to see them all day whilst shopping around the city and just as i was heading home on the tram we glanced out the window and there they were on a street corner!!! I'm absolutely positively definitely certain it was them. My one regret was not getting off the tram and meeting them but i guess it was a rush of blood to the head that stopped me! i hope i get another chance tonight to see them at the concert! I'm not sure this is thread worthy but I'm so excited!!! :o

They may be megastars, but it seems those lads from Coldplay really are just Mr Nice Guys. Excited fan Angie Paspaliaris waited outside the Adelaide Entertainment Centre until 12.15-ish yesterday, when the fellas made their not-so-hasty exit. Apparently Chris Martin, right, came out and chatted, signing autographs for about 10 minutes. "He took the time to make sure everyone got what they wanted, all the time being humble and saying thank you to us," Angie says. "He is left-handed, and one guy said 'go the left-handers' and he replied 'yeah, I know - if we were around 100 years ago we would've been drowned for that'." "I'm in love," Angie reckons. Our guess i…

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Chris Martin hinted that Coldplay's next album may be a "fast, dark and heavy" affair "with no pianos." Band manager David Holmes suggested that the band may record a new album between their tour schedule over the new year: "They're definitely hungry to get back in the studio to make another record; they've got a lot of material. So for next year we're looking at building a tour around their recording schedule. Ultimately it could potentially mean we end up releasing another record next year (2007) and continuing to tour well into '07." Recently, Chris Martin has stated that "I think next time we'll be everyone's band. Our ne…

Can someone please explain what "Trappings" is?? CHRIS MARTIN: Because we were doing something for somebody and it's complicated. It's embarrassing, I don't like to say it. ANDREW DENTON: No, come on, look, you seem very awkward about the... CHRIS MARTIN: The trappings... ANDREW DENTON: The trappings, but I think people understand that you have the trappings. CHRIS MARTIN: Well sometimes we do. Yesterday we didn't, yesterday we didn't, but today, this time, we did. Do we have to talk about this?

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band's national concert tour was the "most requested event" in the first half of 2006 according to Ticketmaster, the world's leading ticketing company. Following closely behind on the chart ranked by online page views, information requests, and ticket sales from 1/1/06 - 6/30/06 were Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Soul2Soul II. tour and Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz. "Jimmy Buffett as well as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Soul2Soul II. tour have consistently ranked as the nation's most requested events each week throughout the first half of 2006," said Ticketmaster's Sean Moriarty. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reckons he can't bear listening to the band's first album Parachutes. In an interview with Andrew Denton for Enough Rope the singer from one of the world's bigest bands revealed that and some other gems. "Think if I ever get married again I might put it on to impress someone but I can't imagine that ever happening." Martin reasons that nothing can be learnt by listening to one's own music so he tries to constantly listen to other artists' efforts. You can catch Andrew Denton's entire interview with Chris Martin on Enough Rope on the ABC tonight at 9:35pm. Source: http://www.abc.net.au

Rolls-Royce has joined with MTV to raise $25,000 for the Staying Alive Foundation, a global organisation dedicated to preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS. Rolls-Royce provided a new Phantom for last year’s MTV European Music Awards in Lisbon and invited artists to autograph the back seat. By the end of the event more than 20 major celebrities had signed. The seat was then removed from the Phantom and turned into the world’s most exclusive sofa by Nick Gutfreund, an up-and-coming UK furniture designer and maker. It was subsequently bought by Hard Rock for $25,000 with the proceeds donated by Rolls-Royce to the Staying Alive Foundation. The cheque was handed over l…

Tell us all something random, a fact, concept, or idea about the band the most people wouldn't know about. I thought this would be a cool idea for a thread :) I love learning new things about my favorite band.
