  2. Amid a strong line-up including Primal Scream, Foo Fighters, Lou Reed and The Prodigy, you might not have bet on Coldplay sweeping away the competition in their closing set at the 2006 Isle of Wight Festival. But there was no doubt of Chris Martin’s rapport with the crowd on Sunday night and the band was rapturously received. The singer was on playful form, at one point inviting a young blonde woman whom he called “crowd member of the year” to sit on stage for a few songs and drink champagne. He also entertained the crowd with an attempted Peter Crouch dance. The set progressed from anthem to anthem – through “Politik”, “Clocks”, “Yellow” and “In My Place” – sugge…

Celebrity photos, from babies and breakups, to weddings and wild flings, have long generated huge price tags. Last year, Julia Roberts and her photographer husband, Danny Moder, sold a family photo to People for a reported $150,000. The money was donated to an environmental group. The first photo of Britney Spears' baby captured $500,000. The proceeds were given to a Hurricane Katrina charity. A photo of Apple, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, sold for $125,000. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas sold the first photo from their wedding for more than $1.6 million. The most profitable paparazzi photos to date are of Pr…

From Belle and Sebastian Q & A: From: Sanda Q.Why does Chris Martin of Coldplay wear many rings on his left hand so that people can't tell if he's married? It's seems disrepectful for what it means as a figurative. Thanks. A. It's because he's a chav,or ned north of the border. If you look at any respectable ned's hands they always have an impressive array of sovy rings. Richard - 13/05/06 http://www.belleandsebastian.com/qa.php?menu2=0 What is a chav? ned?

I was sort of half watching Shaun of the Dead today while making a little booklet, and during the end credits I heard a song and the chorus is sung by a man who has a distinctively high voice. I didn't put it past Simon Pegg to put a song in the movie who has Chris Martin's voice on it. And since Chris's voice is so easy to pick out, I was like "that's gotta be Chris". So I looked it up and sure enough. It's called "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" by Ash feat. Chris Martin. It just took me by surprise because I though I'd heard of all of Chris' cameos in songs. Anyway, if you haven't heard it, I recommend it, because it's awesome. (for reference, Simon Pegg and Chris are …

I experienced a lot many other bands...and I don't listen to Coldplay as much as before...because when you come here all you see is Coldplay...haha....gives you a feeling as if Coldplay were a boyband or something like that...somehow... that doesn't mean that I don't like this place..... I just feel like that....but it is my own decision to come here!:)

  10. Tim Rice-Oxley - songwriter, pianist in the band "Keane" we know that they were/are friends with Chris Martin and Chris asked Tim to join Coldplay back in '90s...Tim rejected it because he already had a band. but what if he would accept Chris' offer? how Coldplay would look like today? maybe with 5 members? would they sound more like "Keane"? or maybe another style? i have to say that Tim is a genius. his lyrics are wonderful, creativity as well. my verdict: we would hear different but brilliant songs, maybe even better that Coldplay have done so far anyway, it's only a thought, but this story really makes me think what Coldplay would be now...

  12. Nelly Furtado has hailed Coldplay star Chris Martin for his impromptu songwriting skills, after he conjured a song out of nowhere for her new album Loose. The pair joined forces to record the track All Good Things, which now features on the release as a solo number after Martin's voice was deemed too "rocky". But Furtado will never forget how the Clocks singer worked his magic on her disc - even though he insists his contribution was "s**t". "After we'd recorded it I asked him, 'Did you write that just now?' "And he said, 'Yes, of course - that's why it's s**t.' He's so completely unaware of how great he is. So very humble." contactmusic awwwwww, Chris............…

  14. Rock legend David Bowie is among an amazing galaxy of stars appearing in the new series of Ricky Gervais’s hit show Extras, The Sun can reveal. Hollywood A-list hunk Orlando Bloom, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe also have roles in the comedy. In one episode Ricky — as TV and film extra Andy Millman — even puckers up for a Gay Kiss with Da Vinci Code actor Sir Ian McKellen. Ricky, 44, had a host of celebrities begging for bit parts — playing themselves — in the second series of the show. He wanted to keep the names under wraps until filming finishes in late summer — but we got hold of the top-secret cast list. Bowie, 59, has al…

  16. A duet with Chris Martin was dropped from Nelly Furtado's new album Loose over fears the Coldplay frontman sounded "too rocky". Bosses at Martin's record label EMI took the decision to stop the Canadian singer releasing the original version of Good Things (Come To An End) because they didn't want to alienate Coldplay fans. Furtado says, "Chris' label didn't want his voice sounding so rocky, so they said we couldn't use the song. Now it's on the album with just me singing it." Source: http://www.pr-inside.com

  17. Some London street musicians vs Coldplay on youtube: They'll never be Coldplay but after hearing it, I kinda liked the "reggafication" of the backing music when it kicks in - haven't made my comment on it yet as I am not quite decided what to say whether to :smash: or give a  cuz I always admire people who can just perform infront of strangers - what do you think? PS. I'm new here so Hi PEEPS! Thanks for telling me about this forum - there is so much more here than on the official site! ;) Have a great day - listen to COLDPLAY

  18. Chris Martin's drab media image has been dismissed by Embrace frontman Danny McNamara, who insists the singer is the most charismatic man he's met. The pair became firm friends after Coldplay supported Embrace at a UK gig in 2000, and McNamara [pictured] is furious journalists keep portraying his pal as a geek. He says, "The perception of Chris is so far from the truth, it's hilarious. People think he's dull but he's the most exciting man I've ever met. He's always switched on. You feel like you should pay a ten quid (pound) entrance fee just to see him. "If I was like that, I'd need 15 hours sleep a night. He's just not boring." http://www.pr-inside.com/mcnamara…

ok so today i got in the car and my sister said that she heard the following on the radio... "Coldplay's new cd will be named "moses" and it will be named after his new born child. they will also include their past B-side song Moses on the cd. their release will be sometime next year and they are in studio recording, which is why they are on a break." So i have no official evidence of the truth but if this is true we can hope for a new cd pretty soon. i just find it weird since they will be hiting asia pretty soon.

Rock supergroup Coldplay have leaped to the defence of pals Embrace, insisting their World Cup soccer anthem for the England team is brilliant. World At Your Feet has attracted a barrage of criticism from other musicians including Sham 69, The Darkness star Justin Hawkins and Richard Ashcroft - who have all recorded rival tunes - as well as New Order. But Embrace frontman Danny McNamara is happy with the tune, especially after glowing feedback from Chris Martin. He says, "Chris likes it. I played it to him yesterday, actually. He'd already heard it because I'd sung it to him down the phone a while back, and he remembered it word for word, which is pretty cool. I sup…

  25. Keane - bland middle-class crooners or tub-thumping, stadium-filling songsmiths? Rock journos Vs the great CD-buying public - the debate continues. Keyboard player Tim Rice-Oxley tells Brian Boyd how success brought its own issues for the bank and how the new album came from a darker place. THE four members of Coldplay are sitting in Slattery's pub on Capel Street thinking of a new name for their band. They've a gig on in the Mean Fiddler (now The Village) in less than an hour and the promoter needs to have the new name. The singer mentions a kind old lady he used to know - her name was Cherry Keane. That will do. But no one at the gig hears the name properly and for …
