September 18, 200817 yr I still think 12 Memories is their best album. All the others except the Man who are too long.
September 18, 200817 yr One of the best Travis songs ever! :D The video is abit different for Travis tho. yep, that's true, but there's a reason for that ;) here's what fran said about it on the messageboard: Dear all, The video for Song To Self will be going up on our youtube site later. Don't be shocked. It's just a me video. I was a little uncomfortable with the idea of it not being an all of us video, but it reflects the meaning of the song well, that of loneliness and wanting to find someone who feels the same as you, someone who knows how you tick. And boy did I feel lonley : ) Anyways it'll be up later. It's directed by Nick Hooker. Nick has worked with U2 and the Smashing Pumpkins and recently made the video for the Grace Jones song Corporate Cannibal.

I've had a couple of days to digest the 'Song To Self' video and I've got to say I love it. I wasn't sure at first but the more I watch it the more it fits with the song.

September 20, 200817 yr Damn I hate this song! Great cover though! Made me laugh!!! :D Why and when did Fran play this song?
September 20, 200817 yr ^Disagree completely. I think 'Something Anything' is brilliant. Goes back to their roots and the 'Good Feeling' days. As for 'Song to Self,' I love it too and I think it could become a Travis classic. Bit different to the live acoustic version though which I though was really beautiful, like 'Closer' from last year which I think for me is 2nd only to 'Why Does it Always Rain On Me?' They are back and in top form IMO. The first half of last year's album was some of their very best stuff but unfortunately, at least for me, a fairly mediocre 2nd half let it down overall. If the rest of the new one is anything like the 2 album versions we have heard so far (can't really tell too much from youtube live versions) then this album will easily be up there with their best IMO. :) I admit what you say about The Boy With No Name, but I disagree that Something Anything is brilliant..Its not really their best,If I compare it the day I heard Closer for first time...Closer is so far better Song to Self is so far the best one from the new ones

September 23, 200817 yr maybe somebody is interested in the setlist of the first uk gig last night? note: the support act couldn't play for some reason, so travis were their own support (haha, i just love them!) and played the entire "ode to j. smith" album first. the rest of the setlist / main act lol : Sing Selfish Jean WTRY Pipe Dreams Beautiful Occupation Side Love Will Come Through Closer Song To Self (wasn't in the first half of the show) Driftwood Good Feeling Flowers In The Window All I Wanna Do Is Rock Turn -- Sarah Falling Down Tied to the 90s (requested by the audience) U16 Girls (requested by the audience) Why Does It Always Rain On Me? now seriously, how great is that set?! god, i wish they'll never again have a support, but i guess that's unlikely to happen, hehe. and something else: the german musikexpress page has the album online for pre-listening :cheesy: http://www.musikexpress.de/Travis__Neues_Album_ODE_TO_J_SMITH_im_Stream.html
