Zutons guitarist quits band

Boyan Chowdury has left the saxy scouse stars

 

Guitarist Boyan Chowdury has left The Zutons.

 

A source close to the band said that the split was amicable and that the group all remain friends. "Musical differences" was the cited reason for the split.

 

The source said that Chowdury, famous for his droopy moustache as well as his musical achievements, has written his own songs and plans to assemble a new band, although no details as to who he will recruit have emerged as yet.

 

The Zutons are yet to announce if he will be replaced permanently.

New album details announced!

 

The Zutons third album is called You Can Do Anything and will be released through Deltasonic on Monday 2nd June. The first single, Always Right Behind You, is available for download two weeks earlier on May 19th and on CD single and 7" vinyl on May 26th. You Can Do Anything was recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in LA during January/February 2008 and was produced by George Drakoulias (The Black Crowes/Primal Scream/Tom Petty).

Zutons Dropped By Record Label!

 

Liverpool indie band The Zutons have been dropped by Sony BMG, say reports.

 

According to Teletext, the band parted ways with the label over Christmas. The Zutons were signed to Deltasonic, which is part-owned by Sony.

 

The Zutons' third studio album You Can Do Anything charted at number six last year. The group's first single off the record, 'Always Right Behind You', peaked at 26, but follow-up 'What's Your Problem' failed to break the top 40.

 

Previous top 20 singles from the group include 'Pressure Point', 'Don't Ever (Think Too Much)', 'Why Won't You Give Me Your Love' and 'Valerie'.

The Zutons' Dave McCabe sentenced for assault

 

Singer ordered to carry out unpaid work and pay victim

 

The Zutons' Dave McCabe has been sentenced for assaulting a man outside a nightclub in his home city of Liverpool. The singer/guitarist has been ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and must pay victim Peter Appleby £1,500 compensation, reports BBC News.

 

He also has to pay £3,500 court costs. The ruling was made at Liverpool Crown Court this morning (October 29).

 

The incident occurred in September 2009 outside the Korova bar. McCabe headbutted Appleby, breaking his nose.
