December 21, 200916 yr FEIST!!! hahaha Well I guess here in Canada she has had lots of attention throughout her career. However the iPod ad was enough to get her a new artist nomination for the Grammys for her third album.
December 21, 200916 yr And for her to explode internationally. Like Metric with Fantasies, only their album was good enough it didn't need an ipod ad!
December 21, 200916 yr So did Metric break through in Australia with Fantasies? Its hard to judge your own countries band's international following/exposure.
December 21, 200916 yr Yeah for sure. It was given as 'Album of the week' on alternative radio station 'Triple J' which plays all the album tracks for one week throughout their normal playlist. It wasn't so crash hot on commercial radio, though.
December 21, 200916 yr Cool. Gotcha. We don't really have a good alternative Radiohead station here. Its either top 40 crap, oldies, or rock with way too much Nickleback. Although one of our online stations CBC Radio 3 is rather spectacular.
December 21, 200916 yr I'm actually starting to get tired of male voices, and trying to find music with powerful female voices instead
December 21, 200916 yr Radiohead station? lol Freudian slip haha. I'm actually starting to get tired of male voices, and trying to find music with powerful female voices instead Cool, who have you listened to so far? I can see if I have some recommendations.
December 21, 200916 yr Is it wrong that I find hilarity in the fact that the song in your story happens to be called "Blindness"? :dozey: Same here, although I think it was Feist that hooked me first. I never had anything against female singers, but they didn't appeal to me for longer. Now I enjoy them every bit as much as male vocalists, however. :D hahahaha not wrong at all :D
December 21, 200916 yr humm now that i think... in the female vocalist category, i used to listen to Morcheeba, i liked so much the song 'enjoy the ride'
December 21, 200916 yr Cool, who have you listened to so far? I can see if I have some recommendations. Really, the only females I've ever listened to are Feist, Metric, The Knife/Fever Ray, Bjork and now Joy Formidable. I don't really know the right word for the vocals I'm looking for other than strong, but any artist would do probably.
December 27, 200916 yr i got fantasies for xmas. i've listened to it a bit these last few days and it's great. I've heard blindness before and i really liked it (thanks briggins for showing me that song). the other songs on that album i really really like a lot are Collect Call, Stadium Love, and Gimme Sympathy
December 27, 200916 yr I'm liking this Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton stuff :awesome: i got a cd for my sister for xmas (a surprise cd my siblings and I do)... i still have yet to listen to it
December 27, 200916 yr i got my sister Knives Don't Have Your Back... have yet to listen to it. what are some stand out tracks/fav. tracks off that one?
December 27, 200916 yr Yeah, thats my favourite one on the EP. The Lottery is my favourite from the LP.
December 27, 200916 yr I'm still waiting for the LP. (yes, I get all my music free from the public library, so shoot me)
December 27, 200916 yr It has a lot of stuff throughout the 15 or so different ones :awesome: I'm 47th in line waiting for Fantasies, booooo.
December 28, 200916 yr Well, theres only 2 copies that exist within the library system, and you can take them out for 3 weeks at the most so........I have no idea.
