The Pope Dies

Featured Replies

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope John Paul II, the Polish pontiff who led the Roman Catholic Church for more than a quarter century and became history's most-traveled pope, died Saturday night in his Vatican apartment. He was 84.

The announcement came from papal spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls and was distributed to journalists via e-mail.

"The Holy Father died this evening at 9:37 p.m. (2:37 p.m. EST) in his private apartment. All the procedures outlined in the apostolic Constitution `Universi Dominici Gregis' that was written by John Paul II on Feb. 22, 1996, have been put in motion."

RIP Pope John Paul II

He was 84. He's been sick for months. He was dying the last few days. This is a shock?

yeah I just found out. he was very sick

he was very old and was very ill, my grandparents died more younger than him. but anyways i feel sad now, but i must think he'll be better wherever he goes now. anyways is time to changes, new millenium new changes is life.

Was the time for Karol Wojtyla, if there's a heaven that's the right place for him.

Maybe the prince Rainiero is about to follow him

im glad he died in the vatican and not in a hospital. he died where he was meant to. R.i.p :)

Yeah, he's been really sick lately. I thought it was really great when he at least tried to address the crowd that stood outside his window a few days ago. He was a great man. Rest in peace, indeed.

how old was he? 120?

haha..it seems that way..but i think he was 80-something.
