December 13, 200817 yr Ya know, listening back. Their last album was pretty average, some songs were just not that good. U2 for me have always had a mistake or 2 on an album. Exception being the Joshua Tree. War and TUF had too many slow paced monologues, or stripped down songs. Id argue if U2 arn't soaring they arn't intresting at all. Auchtung Baby for me was always too safe sounding, the guitar solos felt calculated, it didn't feel very epic (tho it was) Zoopera was a bit of a mess (tho good) and All you can't leave behind was their finest record since TJT. But HTDAAB is a bit of a mess, it just sounds so dam U2, same effects, same direction, it was U2 being safe U2 again and it was mediocre in places.
December 14, 200817 yr good news, hopefully its out before the new year I highly doubt that will happen. I hope it doesn't leak early like HTDAAB.

I don't agree with Achtung Baby being safe sounding. Especially since it is such a departure from songs circa The Joshua Tree. They were experimenting, being safe would be recording another album with songs like the Joshua Tree. Instead they recorded the suonds of the Joshua Tree being chopped down as they said.
December 15, 200817 yr Rumor is that they went back to record a whole new disc too. Lillywhite and Edge (I believe) had mixed the first finished Disc for a November distribution. Then Bono caught a second wind, kinda like Coldplay and delayed and went back. I hope to record new stuff altogether and not to overproduce the stuff they already had. Which is where my two disc theory comes in. Lanios has said he he mixed one of the new U2 albums. Now lately Bono's voice has come back not like it has been since 1989.
December 15, 200817 yr Now lately Bono's voice has come back not like it has been since 1989. OH NO NO NO NO NO, Bono's voice will never be as good as it was...you can thank cigarttes for that
December 15, 200817 yr Well, he was going for that Las Vegas Act lounge look at the time, and so the cigs.- he started to smoke about then (I think?). Tis' a shame, but we're all only human. Anyhow, Edge sings well enough - maybe there will be more of his operatic voice on the new album?:)

December 18, 200817 yr It's official - "No Line on the Horizon" will be out March 2. 18.12.2008 'No Line on the Horizon' No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2, will be released on Monday 2nd March 2009. Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group’s 12th studio album and is their first release since the 9 million selling album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in late 2004. Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, continued in the band’s own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York’s Platinum Sound Recording Studios, and finally being completed at Olympic Studios in London. The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite. http://www.u2.com/news/index.php?mode=full&news_id=2279
December 18, 200817 yr SCORE, NO LINE ON THE HORZION! I CALLED that album title... OUT ONE DAY BEFORE MY B-DAY! TIS FATE! http://media.u2.com/flash/highlights/FatherBrianEnoDrums.swf ^FATHER ENO IS DIGGING THE "SEXY BOOTS"...or "Only Love", who knows...sounds good to me
December 18, 200817 yr No Line On The Horizon! March 3rd! 73 days baby! 2009 is U2s year, sorry Coldplay, U2 is coming to town!
December 18, 200817 yr Jarring loose some poorly-connected neural circuits here, and please correct me, as it's been ages since I've thought of this - but the title - to what does that refer? I keep thinking of Muhammad's revelation when he spoke to God, and saw the sunrise everywhere on the horizon.. I'm just not sure how the story goes, but is there a connection?? Or, is it a reference to being far off in space?? No line, a circle.. No line, on the horizontal altimeter of an aircraft??
December 18, 200817 yr Just 69 days to go here   I tought I couldn't get more excited to see Coldplay in Dublin in two days and now this, perfect timing :D
December 19, 200817 yr EDGE sings.. I would love an Edge only song. Kind of like Van Dieman's Land. I'm not as familiar with Van Dieman's land, although there was NUMB, and Dave sang at the end of one of their songs in perfect acapella - name of the song escapes me - maybe it was "stuck in a moment" in a live performance @ Slane Castle?;) It was a great performance, either way!

Or, is it a reference to being far off in space?? No line, a circle.. No line, on the horizontal altimeter of an aircraft?? Edge stated this about the title in an interview with Mojo Magazine about a month ago: Is the album still going to be called No Line On The Horizon, or is that a red herring? It’s not totally firmed up but it’s still the working title. So, what the hell does it mean? It’s an image. It’s an image, Bono tells me [laughs]. It’s like when you’re moving forward, but you’re not exactly sure what you’re heading towards – that moment where the sea and the sky blend into one. It’s an image of infinity, I suppose – a kind of Zen image. http://www.mojo4music.com/blog/2008/11/u2_album_still_not_finished.html
December 19, 200817 yr :)Ahh.. from Zen-master Paul then! How true - sometimes, in the absence of prominent geographical markers and topography, it seems like everything extends into infinity in all directions.. I can visualize that!;) Maybe a reference to a moment of confusion as well, and a sense of allowing someone else to pilot a craft, where passengers are only aware of the movement, but specifics are left to others, so as to create a sense of going places without knowing the details... I'm think what it must be like to be in Bono's shoes, or in anyone's shoes who travels all over constantly, and after some time there really is "no line on the horizon", as any direction (in life as well) could be just as right as the next...

December 19, 200817 yr Get on Your Boots is expected soon. Video was filmed the other day in London! Im so freaking excited!
December 19, 200817 yr Wooooo March!!! I can't wait!!! 2009 will be U2's year, the lads are coming back to town!!!  great pic!! Adam is the best on that one, as always XDD I love the early pics where they look like nothing XD (U2 by U2 is gold mine for that!!)
December 19, 200817 yr I have gone off U2 quite a lot since I saw them live. Don't get me wrong, that was an incredible gig, but my music tastes have changed so completely in the last three years. I'm interested in this album though. Surely it can't be as bad as How To Release Your Worst Album In Seventeen Years, or whatever it was called. On most of U2's other albums, I disliked maybe three or four tracks off each (except Joshua Tree and their 90s output - their best work.). On HTDAAB, there were only four tracks I liked - Vertigo, Love And Peace Or Else (brilliant song title!), City Of Blinding Lights and Original Of The Species (the single version was even better). Early leak? I might buy this if it's good enough.
December 19, 200817 yr I'm interested in this album though. Surely it can't be as bad as How To Release Your Worst Album In Seventeen Years I belive that album is called, "Pop". BOOM CHA! Time to get out your notebooks Coldplay, IT'S TIME TO GET SCHOOLED!
