There's a new version of Original Of The Species out, AOL was carrying it all yesterday, but now it's gone again. I don't know if maybe someone saved it and then uploaded, maybe someone on here has it?

I still like the first version much better. I love Bono, obviously, but this is NOT a Bono solo project. What gives with only giving the other guys .4 milliseconds of coverage?? And the double heads made me incredibly dizzy  Plus, it's lacking the emotional power of the first version, especially with the Edge ending (this was, originally, about Edge's daughter afterall).

I dunno, I wasn't that impressed by it. I don't know why they had to do a remake??

yeah same here, wasn't too impressed. But hey, it's a great song.. you can't put a video to a song like that.

Exactly.

I think 'Original' was written to be a personal song, for each person who hears it to take it a different way and apply it to their life. It's very close to my heart, and really I don't think any video they make would do justice to the song.

I do like the CGI concept from the first video, though. I'd like them to do experimental stuff like this in future videos! It's a nice change

Yeah, at least they're still trying to be creative in their videos; they're still trying to make a difference in music (as if they already aren't ha). The fact that re-made their video means that they care about it and I guess they felt that they could do better.

you mean the newest one with the naked lady dancing around? you can see it if you go to the aol site and search u2. it was the same just more band footage and less scary cgi faces

I think the pregnant woman served as a much more poignant message in the first video, I liked the colors used towards the end as the song grew stronger and stronger. Personally, I loved the CGI head (as I said before) because I thought it was different, and really an interesting concept. It was sort of depressing to have Bono for 4:45 minutes (or whatever) and the rest got 2 seconds. Meeeeh.

I hope they don't release it :/

hmmm well im liostening to kite and does anyone have a live version... scarlet? Thanks for the atlanta show by the way.

Does anyone know if there is an audio for Omaha? It was December 15, 05. Thanks for any help. :)

Have not seen anything for that show yet ... maybe next week , I heard there was a recording on Ebay  , hopefully someone will liberate it , and share

hey, i never saw this thread before, nice one..U2 ROCKS!!!! :P

I think The Edge is referring to the current tour ... they have also said how much material they have have and are ready to make a new album , and they are currently building a new studio in Dublin ,... maybe they just won't tour any longer

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

There's no way they would retire now. This article just makes it seem that's what the Edge is talking about.

There are just too many news outlets on the web, and they all have space to fill, and that's why when Edge says something to a Rolling Stone writer like

"The reaction to the shows has been unprecedented," says the Edge. "From a really great start, it's just built and built and built. I'm happy to say bye-bye, because I don't think we could ever top it."

every news site on the web jumps all over it, repeating the quote ad nauseam -- but, in almost every case, taking it out of context. Edge was specifically talking about the Vertigo Tour, not U2's career as a whole. But you'd never know it from the reporting and re-reporting that's going on. And the thing is ... if Edge was talking about U2 giving up touring altogether, don't you think Rolling Stone would've used that as the headline, rather than "U2 Look Back on U.S. Success"?

Pack journalism runs rampant on this kind of thing. One site sees the quote, repackages it as a new story, and then everyone else follows suit. And it happens all the time ... think back just two weeks ago when every news outlet on the web seemed to pick up the "Bono feared his campaigning would get him kicked out of U2" story, which started with comments he gave on BBC Radio right before the new year. And no doubt it'll happen again soon -- sooner than any of us care to see it.

there

clocks-politik, thank you.

You seriously just took all the words out of my mouth. *agrees completely*

Rolling Stone is just... ugh, sometimes. A lot of their articles are on the verge of tabloids, and they hardly ever bother to check facts (of course, many of their writers DO, and they do have some great interviews, etc, but ugh, the bad always stands out). :dozey:

Exactly, I totally agree. It's the media of our day. They just like to sensationalize stories and quotes, such as this. I just posted it to see what you guys thought of this rubbish.

it keeps the band in the news and fans speculating though ... and it's always good for conversation

The press doesn't understand how sensitive message boards are to this gossip!

stir up interest and jack up prices for tickets on the 4th Leg :wink3:

 if only they knew.

Oh my god..I wonder when they will stop telling us these stupid and ridiculous things :snore:

U2 will rock for a long long long long time to come
