Arcade Fire

Nice reviews guys.

But a 3? yeowch. Guess they really are a love them or hate them band.

Neon Bible is like an emotional bomb that waiting to explode. On the one hand' date=' depressing and hopeless, but on the other hand moving and absolutely beatiful.[/quote']

I like that bit

They now make serious music. But being serious and singing about politics and God is not for Arcade Fire. It just doesn't work in this way.

I guess, it's the factor of brilliance that I still couldn't find on Neon Bible even after several listenings.

Those and the No Cars Go criticisms that have been coming from several reviews I've read I disagree with completly. Not only is the depth still there (although much harder to find this time- it took me a long time) but No Cars Go is the lynchpin of it all that holds the whole concept together, much like Wake Up and Rebellion did on Funeral, and it works specifically because it's a reprise. (And yes, it is my favorite track on the album)

I'll explain it better in a bit, but I just bought the ep today (yeah I was putting it off) and it sort of figures in my idea, so I want to listen to it first.

Simply put, musically, Neon Bible is at it's best (and a fantastic best it is) when analised in isolation. Lyrically however, I think it's Funeral's equal, and I'm saying this as a person who has been paying thousands of dollars basically to study poetry.

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

^Did my last post actually post? Sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't.

This album makes me fall asleep. No real standout tracks which will be remember in 10/15 years time.

Sorry, but 3/10.

i do have to agree, i found nothing exciting in this release.

^ :shocked2: That was awesome.

Those kids are insane... in the best way possible.

I never pictured ripping up a book as a sound of music.

i'm so totaly in love with this band!

and Neon Bible is just fantastic! :nice:

AF are coming to Switzerland in June................. unfortunately, it's a festival.

i don't know, if i should go or not. apart from Arcade Fire the line-up, for the day when they perform, is awful...

it's not my intention to see crap like Bloc Party or Kaiser Chiefs and pay around 80 CHF. i hope they'll confirm the Montreux Jazz Festival appearance. i'd rather pay more and go there

Yeah don't pay alot of money if you will only see a few songs and then not enjoy the other bands. Thats why I didn't go see Coldplay when they were in Halifax last year for the Juno awards.

Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs are alot better than Nickleback and Black Eyed Peas. ;)

^ oh Nickleback! worst.band.ever! :bomb: .. they are soo awful!!

I agree. They're so bad that I didn't see Coldplay haha. I mean we never get bands like that in their prime here in Halifax.

Dammit not even the Arcade Fire who are Canadian are coming here.

Maybe one day they'll do a cross Canada tour but i'm not betting any money on it.

I just love them both.

I haven't really listened to either album much this past week. Mostly Modest Mouse for me the past week.

Une, Duex, Trois, dit mirrore noire!

Adore, love this band!

^That is definitely my favourite lyric off of Black Mirror. That is a perfect opening song for the album I think. It really sets the tone for the rest of the album.

huzzah!

got tickets to see them may 7th and 9th!!!! :D

Someone in Q magazine got it pretty much spot on with a letter about Neon Bible:

"It sounds like a bunch of Echo & the Bunnymen B-sides, all bluster and no tunes".
