CRAZY FROG SET TO BEAT COLDPLAY TO NUMBER ONE

COLDPLAY look likely to be beaten to the Number One spot this week by a song originally designed as a ringtone.

According to music retailer HMV, Crazy Frog's 'Axel F' is outselling ’Speed Of Sound’ by a 4 to 1 margin in their stores.

Chart expert Gennaro Castaldo said: "Music purists might not be too happy at the prospect of the Crazy Frog outselling Coldplay, but it shouldn't come as that much of a surprise when you consider its huge novelty appeal and the massive amount of exposure its currently getting.

”Kids obviously find it cute and cool, but students and even office workers seem to be drawn to its rather kitsch, ironic appeal. The only real issue is whether the record label can press enough copies to keep up with the huge demand that we're seeing right now."

if you don't live in the UK (lucky you) you may have seen the annoying banner ads on websites which play this piece of crap when you 'mouseover' it.

The ad is ALWAYS on - until I turn it over that is. I think I may buy an extra cop of SOS to help prevent this.

Then again quality always outlasts cheesy crap designed to make some faceless 'producers?' money.

NO! NO! this can not and must not happen! that piece of shit crazy frog can not get to number one. but then again our charts do suck and the crap usually gets to number one easily

Yeah, the crazy frog? Not just in the UK...I've seen it for ringtones advertised in America on T.V. too...that said, it isn't on nearly as often as it is in the U.K. But we've had to suffer through it too.

Of all the songs to get to number one!?! WHO IS BUYING THIS CRAP!!!!!

it is sick and wrong....it is a pitiful reflection of our country i guess. OK ALL OF US MUST GO AND BUY THE SINGLE THIS WEEK...it will be a real shame if they dont get to no 1 after being beaten by flippin Darius last time they deserve a number one they're the best and most important thing to happen to British music in years!

What????????????? your havin a girafffffffffffe

Right im going to buy 10 copies of SOS :idea2:

I have 5 different copies of SOS. I feel a slight urge to destroy something, this news is the saddest moment of the year.

Perhaps... but I've heard something along the lines of there only being about 50,000 copies of the Crazy Frog single pressed and distributed, and most major outlets have sold out of all of their stock. It is all down to the label behind Crazy Frog (no, no idea who) and whether they can get more pressed and into the shops as quickly as possible - if they can't get them into the shops by Saturday at the very latest, you may well yet still see Coldplay at No. 1 on Sunday.

Even if Coldplay do get No 1, because of that, it's still a sad reflection on the country that more people want to buy that than Coldplay. fair enough Coldplay's not everyone's cup of tea, know loads of people who really hate them, but how annoying is that frog song! :bomb: :evil3:  :smash: :worried: :x  Ach there are no good emoticons for how i feel at the mom!

Even if they don't get to number 1 with SOS, I'm almost positive that X&Y will be #1 on the charts in England and the U.S. Both amazon UK and amazon US have X&Y at #1 on the music order section. That should speak volumes about how huge this album will be once it is released.

I'm absolutely livid. And it aint even sunday yet... If that stupid bastardized frog pips coldplay to number 1 then yes, it's quite safe to say, that britain has serious serious issues when it comes to their taste in music.

balls.

it's cos it was made for mass consumership (if that's a word  ) and profit making, whereas with coldplay that's not the case  still bloody annoying though

It's outselling Coldplay because people don't buy singles anymore, unless they know for a fact that they're not going to buy an entire LP of something. ie., novelty dance pop singles by animated frogs. It in no way reflects popularity.

At least that's what I hope is going on. :uhoh2:

Wtf is Crazy Frog? Haha is this some UK thing I'm uninformed about?

Either way, Professor Peedston makes a very good point. I know I probably won't buy Speed of Sound.. *dodges tomatoes*.....but I'm buying X&Y for SURE.

I might buy the single just for the bsides included :P

everyone should buy it for two reasons:

The b sides are stunningly good, well Things I Don't Understand is anyway, and Proof is rather good too.

We cant really let a crazy frog beat coldplay to number one, can we? First Darius, now a frog - this is just taking the piss. :D

As if any more proof were needed that the uk singles chart is little more than a joke now...

white shadows wil get to number one because many reasons,

great song

good beat

appeals to mass market

and they will put mosses on it for people with the album allready!

That's what I've been wondering  And why is it such a big deal? Who the heck cares? It'll beat a single, not the album.

you really think it would appeal to the mass market? i wasn't sure, but are they releasing it? :stunned:
