"we were very strict on ourselves with the recording.. we talk at length about the whole question of our records verses our gigs.. and that people seem to prefer our gigs to our albums.. fair enough.. so we set ourselves the task of all live recordings, this meant we had to reherse each song until we were sure of every part.. then the idea was that we'd go record the band, without overdubs, anything else we wanted on the song (piano, trumpet etc..) had to be recorded live with the band.. i think we've made something different than before.. it feels very natural.. we recorded a bunch of songs and mixed them and now its a question of which ones work as a group.. a couple of songs may overlap with the record im putting out with marketa.. but they'll be quite different i think.. i hope.."

well, some great news:

 

the release of their 6th album 'The Cost' is SO CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The Cost will be released on the band's own Plateau label in Ireland on 22nd September

 

It will be preceded by a double A-sided single 'Falling Slowly' / 'No More I Love Yous' on 1 September.

I know there are probably only like a few people here who have even heard of them, but most of the people who have heard even a few songs say "I can't believe I am just now discovering this band!"

 

They've been around for years but have gotten little recognition in the music scene. Led by genius lyricist Glen Hansard, they may be one of the better bands out there.
