accent?

Featured Replies

hmmm... most english-speaking people that ive talked to say that they can sense a little foreign accent but can never say from where exactely... they usually just notice it in some particular words. Americans say i have a canadian accent (maybe coz i say 'eh' ), English say i have an american accent and canadians could never tell what kind of accent i have... and although i lived in australia for 1 year and a half i dont think i can say anything with an australian accent...

My accent is Parisian

And when I speak English... I dunno. I need to ask Steph  On some words, I guess it English, but I dunno for the main part of it. :(

i personally don't have any accents but i pronounce the R very weird (in german)

sometimes, when i'm in a looney mood (happens quite often) i try to imitate the english accent (probably totally wrong but it's funny).

hehe ... but i like the english accent more than the american one...

and i also imitate other accents. like the french one, the italian one, the spanish one or the russian one. (well, i speak german with those accents)

hehe .... i could go on forever but i think that accents are so much fun :D

My accent isn't very strong or even distinctive! But if you're Irish, you'll immediately know I'm a dub, but foreign people wouldn't pick up on it as quickly :)

In finnish i speak kind of mixture of many accents :P But i guess it's quite usual here

I guess i've the terrible finnish accent when i speak english.. When i hear Finns talking english i feel soo embarrassed..it sounds terrible :( I wish i learnt how to speak English without sounding weird :D

I have a Basle accent in German but since I've lived here for a long time I can also change the accent... I sometimes do, depends to with whom I'm talking, but I don't really notice that.

In English? You'd probably realise that my native language is German but I'm not sure.

My French and Spanish sound very German, can't change that. I can't roll the R in Spanish so you notice very fast that I'm a foreigner.

some people say i have a texan accent, but i don't know if i really do. i probably sound texan though if someone else were to listen to me. i wish i had a british or scottish or irish accent though, that'd be really cool. yay for living in the south, specifically texas..whooo :P

I have a general American one! :P

Nothing regional I don't think... other than saying "like, dude, and tight" a lot. Typical southern california.

accent hmmm, southern english, but with scots, particularly with the vowels, they think i'm weird here cos i say 'bath' and not 'baaaaarth' (i can't raise an eyebrow cos i still dunno how to work the smileys here). dad's glaswegian and mum's edwinian, so figures that i have a mixture of it all hehe

If there is a Jamaican anywhere near me I just stare at them. There accent is sooooo good. And any UK accents are just so soothing.

I could post a voice recording.............but no.

......i DONT have a redneck one.....but if u were to listen to me and u lived in the us...youd know i was from the south  ....but i try to be as ARTICULATE as i can without being too articulate....

me too! it's a shameful thing :embarassed:

EDIT*

ah! those Texan accents...they are awful... I have the Texas/southern accent as well.

cuz

you know

i am Texan :uhoh:

Well, in english, I've got the accent of a French who speaks english....

In france, there is accents everywhere...In the south, north, east, west, even between 2 regions (a region in french like a county in english...)

I have an accent. Actually, I have it only because of my dialect. And if I were talking to someone who doesn't live in the same region, the difference in speaking would be really noticeable.

And I speak English (and other foreign languages) with a nice Slavic accent. :P

everyone should post a voiceclip, that would be really interesting to hear different languages

I've got quite an accent in dutch ... im from ghent and when i talk to sombody from brussels or Hasselt, they will barely understand what im saying. In english i think i also have quite a belgian-dutch accent

yes! voiceclips! I'm for it! :D

ah, i remembered... my english sound more American than British cause no teacher actually speaks British English although we're supposed to speak it. :S

eh...I have a swedish accent :uhoh: sounds horrible

eh...I have a swedish accent :uhoh: sounds horrible

i don't know why but it seems like almost all scandinavians have a horrible accent  and it truly sounds quite..weird

that is sooo true :laugh2:

I guess we'll have to post voice clips now to show what we are talking about :uhoh:

after you, madame :wacky:

i've found the scandanavians to always be very good when speaking english, often better than many people who are natives to the language here!
