June 23, 200917 yr I voted for U2's Achtung Baby. IMO, it is a really good album with good songs all around. I can not name a single song on that album that sucks. Plus, the album saved U2 in many ways, especially after that Pop fiasco. I know Nevermind is considered to be a great album but I haven't heard the whole thing, and as for Radiohead's OK Computer...well, I am not familiar with that album at all. I don't think I know a single song on that album.

June 23, 200917 yr Pop came after Achtung though, and I think it's a good album (Pop). Because U2 wanted to try something different by doing that style. I know a lot of fans freaked, but it was still good.

June 23, 200917 yr Hard choice...U2, R.E.M., RHCP, and Radiohead were all great...but my favorite album of the 90s was Pearl Jam's "Ten." It might be my favorite album ever.

Since there is no right or wrong answer you're not really in the position to tell people they need to be banned from listening to music. Eh. Achtung was U2's mocking of the new 90's rock. I wouldn't really just call it a mocking of new 90's rock. I would say it was more of a mocking of how big they were becoming. Maybe a little uncomfortable going from a bunch of Irishmen to international superstars. It was like making a point of how ridiculous it is that a group of musicians can become so big and be worshiped like gods by millions of people.

June 23, 200917 yr Yeah they're nothing about Achtung baby that could even resemble a parody of grunge, all it mocked was commercialism and their own popularity via zootv. It was simply a new direction, using a whole bunch of new sounds and formats to reconstruct themselves as a rock band. Achtung Baby was a sort of return to the womb (making fun of pitchfork) in that they were reborn into the 90s.

Pop Rock, Soft Rock, Alternative Rock, Experimental Rock.... and don't the title of the thread is: "best ROCK album", how it have Rock subgenres listed there?. where are Pearl Jam's first 3 albums. Ten and Vs and Vitalogy. all 3 of those are superior to most of the albums on that list. I agree with that.
