March 7, 200620 yr mhh ... i came up with that topic because of today's RE lesson. we were supposed to write a text about a film and what we felt and thought about it. my teacher was very delighted. he said to me that he really loved my text and that i'm emotionally strong and not afraid of writing what i feel. and that some 50-year-olds should take a leaf out of my book ... and then he said that he'd like to adopt me >.< well, he really seemed to be pleased and he made me proud ... :D no one ever really cared about my own feeling i mention in texts though it's hard for me to explain them. i'm glad someone finally recognised it ...
March 7, 200620 yr When I was in the 9th grade one boy told me that I'm weird.Maybe its not a compliment, but its the best that boys ever told me haha. And he was saying it so nicely, not like:you're crazy,I believe he meant that I'm just a little strange.
March 7, 200620 yr I have been told by a few girls that I am very brave and strong because my mum got cancer and I carried on with school etc with a smile...that was a lovely compliment.
March 8, 200620 yr Well this thread sure died! Sorry to depress everyone! So back to the compliments!
March 8, 200620 yr once a girl said i was cute but later i found out she just said it to make her bf jealous haha
March 8, 200620 yr once a girl said i was cute but later i found out she just said it to make her bf jealous haha I think we all have been there...
March 8, 200620 yr I think it was when i was talking to my mother one day... and she said how she admired me and that i had grew up very well... i was just so happy... I just felt good to know i pleased my mum...
March 8, 200620 yr Compliments are different from different people, you get different joys from people and their relevance to you. My dad told me how proud of me he is the morning he left me at a bus for the airport, just because he thinks its great that I'm moving country on my own and stuff like that. My mother have always been aware of my imperfections, I was just always in a bit of trouble growing up, and it got to an extent where she kindof ignored it. When she said she trusts me again, for the first time in years, it was great. Then there are more supeficial comments, which I still adore, but they dont mean much at the end of the day. The ultimate comment that nobody has mentioned is being told by someone that they love you.
March 8, 200620 yr I would agree. In all seriousness, the little things are what compliment me. Someone saying "I'm your friend and I love you" means nothing when compared to hearing from someone else "Hey you know so-and-so was sticking up for you". That means the world. Or having someone openly admit that they care for you in front of tons of people... wow. That's so powerful.
March 8, 200620 yr when i did something nice for a friend and she found out what my name meant (bonita = beautiful in spanish and portugese and some other random languages) she said "the meaning of names really do represent the person. your parents really knew what to name you. you are such a beautiful person." it was nice to hear a friend say something like that about your personality. :nice:
March 8, 200620 yr Well.....I think when I get compliments I don't even realise it...it is strange.....if people say hey you look good today....I don't say thabk you then....I say something like oh really?I thought I'm going to wear this today!....or something like this..... But for me the biggest "compliment" is that I have friends who care about me,.,......who think of me when I'm not there.....who want to go out with me in the evening....... many people don't realise that........for me it is one of the greatest gifts...... Anmd I think I'm not that good at giving compliments.......if somebody has a new shirt or something like that many people use to say hey it's pretty although they don't think so........I can't do that....I only can say it when I really mean it!
March 8, 200620 yr When i was at work on the weekend, i served this lady, as usual i say thanks have a nice day :). and she said back to me, "no, thankyou for your smile, it really just made my day" that is the nicest thing anyone has said to me :)
March 8, 200620 yr Hmm Compliments can mean very little and also mean a lot. It all comes down to the role the compliment giver has in your life. It also depends on the situation the compliment was given in. Is a girl supposed to feel good if she is a prostitute and her pimp tells her she is beautiful. No because he {Or she} is only after the money the prostitute can get. But if a mother or a father says "Im proud of you son/daughter" on the deathbed it means the world. The parent is about to die. It would mean even more still if the relationship had been bad previously because the emotians would be that much stronger. The best compliment i ever got is a strange one. A girl i know said to me "Your confidence has grown a lot in a year or so" It means more to me coming from that girl in particular then if a relative or a sibling were to say the same thing. Its for the reasons i have said already. That girl has played a big part in bringing the change about. Much more so then any relative or any of my siblings or even my closest friends. And so the compliment means a lot more. It also means more if the compliment is unexpected as well
March 8, 200620 yr I've heard a lot of compliments about my eyes... which is really weird because they are not that special... One boy also once said me (after I had said that I'm not pretty at all) that "perhaps your not beautiful, but your pretty" that made me very happy... :D
