i bet everybody heard the album and at least some live versions of those songs...what do you prefer X&Y songs studio versions or live?

 

in my opinion the live are better (especially : SQ1,What If,White Shadows and Low),even if Chris' voice is worse this tour (maybe),compare it to AROBTTH tour for example.but Coldplay are still one of the best live act at the moment!

I voted live. one reason alone would be the current live version of swallowed in the sea, it's so amazing... I also love the beginning of x&y. plus, square one is truly awesome live, as well as white shadows. :)

I think X&Y was made to play live.

 

I agree with Chris' voice though. But this tour has more dates if not mistaken. Plus, alot of songs from X&Y have some crazy vocals in them, so it's probably extra stressful on his voice.

Studio. I feel Coldplay haven't experimented enough with the X&Y sound in their concerts. Live sounds too much like studio at the moment.

I actually prefer studio. But sometimes, you hear a particular gig live and it's astonishing!

Every time I hear the albums I can't help but add oooh's and yeahh's and ahhh's and basically I sing along to them the way Chris does live. They add intro's to some songs (SoS, X&Y), stretch out the ending on others (Clocks, Fix You), stretch out the middle parts (GPASUYF).. studio just doesn't compare.

X&Y - like it most studio.. But its kind a cool intro when they play it live.. when jonny is playing with his slider:D

I prefer it live, but since they're not coming, I think I've got to keep the studio version :cry:

Some songs live and some studio. The same goes with all their albums. Some stuff just takes on a new life form on stage. Everyone is always talking about over production on X & Y, but the songs sound pretty damn good live without any studio tricks.

too boring to listen to the cd and pretend its live lol. they have an awesome show and they add new things to their songs

ITA. Live is sooo much better than studio. Coldplay is one of those rare bands that sound *better* live.

 

I didn't like X&Y (the song) nearly as much as I did after I'd heard it live...its freakin awesome live, much better than the studio version.

I agree with Angie...some live and some studio. I particularly love Square One Live.....Chris holds that note "the space in which we're travellinnnnnnnnnnnnnggg" love it! Also at the end, theres a certain piano part that is more pronounced....I cant really explain it but you know what bit I mean.....I love the live version of S1.

 

Other songs like the Hardest Part and A message...I havnt actually heard em live, so in my mind, they kinda stay as unaltered studio songs...hmmm.

I would say studio, because that's how the songs are meant to be, pretty much. I listened to the live versions too much and got a bit tired of them anyway, but the live version of "fix you" is AMAZING (the one available on itunes), and in some ways better than the studio version. I LOVE the fireworks in the middle...they give me chills.

Songs like Square One, White Shadows, Fix You and Talk are just electric when played live. :cool: And I do the same thing as victaniac and even sing the add-libs like Chris does when he sings them live :lol:

 

But I do agree with Ian that X&Y live does sound a bit too much like studio...

Everything live from usually sounds much better in my ears but there really aren't no difference from the studio/live with this song.. apart from the ppl screaming so I'm going with studio.

I voted for studio......because the live versions are not as powerful as the studio versions......in the live versions there is something missing!Especially the whole song twisted logic is missing...although i can imagine that it is live not better than the studio version-.....because this is such a powerful song....
