For an english assignment we have to write a series of poems on anything we want, I wrote one about the COldplay COncert I went to...(keep in mind poetry isn't my thing but I tried...:P)

 

Viva la Coldplay

(Some lines derived from Coldplay Song Lyrics/Titles)

 

I go to the stadium to find that I am not alone.

I wait in the long line to get inside,

Just to find that the show has been postponed.

 

The storms begins to unleash its awesome might,

The show possibly being canceled was a real fright.

Then the heavens opened and the sun shined,

The show indeed will be held tonight.

 

I venture around the venue, it so full of life,

My seat is better than I could ever expect.

The opening band comes very deprived,

Of their allotted time, but not their respect.

 

Now the anxious waiting begins,

As music is playing, but not the band’s.

As the band comes on, roars come from the stands.

 

Their music tight, their lights are great,

I was showing a little love for Dave Matthews Band with a couple of my friends today and one of them is a HUGE fan and pays $35 a year to be part of their fan club which got me thinking, AGAIN, WHY does Coldplay not have a fanclub?!? They're supposedly the biggest band in the world and I know everyone on here would more than willingly pay $35 for exclusive features and extra goodies! WHY NOT, Coldplay management people? WHY NOT??

I think the boys like to give things away rather than make people pay a fee for the extras, even if they were willing to. They are just nice guys!! :D They would get some money from having a fan club but they don't really need the extra income and they'd have to employ people to run it, which is probably more hassle than it's worth for them!

 

Also, I'm guessing that if some people were paying $35 to be a fan member they would feel that, as they paid, they should be the only ones getting the freebies like the free track downloads and live CD, the Christmas messages and roadie blogs etc. I think more than anything the boys wanted to give something back to everyone as a thank you for just being a fan and buying gig tickets (at least that's what they said in a recent interview about the live CD). Thinking about it, I think Chris said in a recent interview that the giving away was actually Phil's idea... he's the nice guy! :D
